I love Cher. You may think it’s a little weird that 20-year-old me is a huge fan of a diva who rose to fame in the 1960s, but it’s true. She was a bit like the Lady Gagaof her day. My mom was a diehard fan (like 6ft poster in her bedroom), and she passed that devotion on to my sister and me. We’ve seen her in concert several times, including one of the many farewell tours, and her CD is always playing during road trips. Here are some of my top Cher songs.
Strong Enough (from Amazon). This is probably the most fun song to sing, especially after a break up. It starts out all slow, and then BAM, disco!
Half-Breed (from Amazon). Cher’s father was Armenian and her mother was a mix of Cherokee, English, and French. She debuted this song on The Sonny and Cher Show. Also, look at her rocking body!
All Or Nothing (from Amazon). This song just makes me feel good. At concerts, this is the one that everyone (which normally means women and homosexual men) are screaming at the top of their lungs.
If I Could Turn Back Time (from Amazon). I don’t think you can be a Cher fan and not love this song. Once again, like 20 years later, look at that body!
Just Like Jesse James (from Amazon). Part of the reason that I love this song so much is because Cher rarely performs it. “It has so many words I’m afraid I’ll forget them.”
The Shoop Shoop Song (It’s In His Kiss) (from Amazon). Technically this is a cover, but I love Cher’s version the best. She sang it in the 1990 movie Mermaids (FYI, Cher movies are awesome, too).
Gypsies, Tramps And Thieves (from Amazon). This was also from The Sonny and Cher Show. It’s catchy, although now I can only think of is that awful show My Big, Fat, Gypsy Wedding.
Believe (from Amazon). This was like a comeback song, even though Cher hadn’t fallen. It was also one of the first uses of auto-tune, though it was completely done for effect since Cher has an amazing voice.
Do you listen to Cher, Lovelies? Is there an unexpected artist you listen to?

I love Cher. When blonde was the rage, Cher made me know my jet black hair was beautiful. And I love women with raspy voices.

I’m 20 and a fan of people who were long gone before I was even born. It’s not that weird. It speaks more to the relatability (not entirely sure that’s a word, but you get what I’m saying) of their music than anything.
That said, not a huge Cher fan. I know, a gay man who doesn’t love Cher. It’s absurd. But I did love her in Burlesque!

I mainly hear her songs when I randomly come across it while channel surfing the radio. I’m more of a Madonna fan. the male dancers at madonna’s concerts are often hot and have chiseled bodies. some of madonna’s songs are cheesy but I can’t seem to get enough of it…”if we took a holiday…ohyeah ohyeah…took some time to celebrate…celebrate! just one day out of life. it would be…it would be soooo niiiice
” I can’t believe I know all the adlib lyrics, too
enough of that.
