Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez are not only teen royalty and everyone’s favorite young couple, but now they’re art, too. Sculptor Daniel Edwards (who did the statue of naked Britney Spears giving birth and naked Paris Hilton) has created a bronze statue of the Biebs and Selena and guess what? They’re naked.
The piece is called “Justin and Selena as One” and features the teens literally joined at the hip. A maple leaf, for Canada, covers Justin’s, ahem, private parts, while Selena gets a Texas Lone Star. Oh, and it also has a Canadian goose and armadillo at their feet with “Justin and Selena Forever” written on the bottom.
Let’s talk about legality here. A person is legally an adult at 18 years old in the United States. Selena Gomez recently turned 19. Legal? Yes. Still creepy? Definitely. Justin, on the other hand, is still only 17, therefore, not an adult. One could argue that because the statue’s genitals are covered, this is perfectly fine, but I’m still calling it inappropriate.
So where is this piece of art going to be displayed? Well, it will be a few different New Fine Arts stores in Dallas, which by the way, isn’t an art gallery. It’s an adult store. I’m sure you can imagine what kind of company bronze Justin and Selena will be keeping.
What do you think of this, Lovelies? Is it art or is it wrong? [via The Today Show and Dallas Observer]

They don’t even look like them…

lol. ewww?

Thats kind of weird. Especailly since they probably won’t be “forever” considering there so young & well hollywood actors never stay together foreverrr.

Ew… all of those are really disturbing… gross. What the hell is with this guy and making lewd, awkward sculptures with animals. Nasty…
guest
VERY creepy.

@Aletheas_Unspoken_words@xanga - Almost exactly what I was going to say.
Plus, it’s awkward that they’re naked. Although I have to say that it was creative to cover their genitals with something ‘symbolic’.
guest
all of the works that this guy has done are just strange (gross and disturbing). and then people pay attention to it so he keeps doing it more.

Seriously? It’s art. ART. You want to censor art? Really? As a writer? Do you want someone to tell you how to create your pieces? I think this article is inappropriate. You’re drawing attention to something that’s “Creepy” and “Inappropriate” and well, you know the kind of lovelyish readers there are here, can you imagine who will be READING about this?
Give me a break. Can we grow passed the “OMG THEY ARE NAKED” childish behavior and move on? You don’t have to get all excited every time someone creates something that looks like naughty bits. As far as your “talk about legality,” stating the ages of people is not discussing legality. If you want to discuss legality, I dare you to do some research on Robert Mapplethorpe. I double dog dare you.
You could have attacked this at a different angle, but you choose to inspire the destruction of someone’s hard work and creativity instead of inspiring production and hard work. Why does everything on here have to be so goddamn negative?

Wrong? No. Creepy? Yes.

I think the guy is very good at what he does, I mean in all three of the sculptures the faces does resemble the celebs fairly well. I really don’t think he should have sculpted Justin and Selena naked though, they are just young, and there’s no way they are going to be forever. But it was his own work, and what he saw. So i can’t judge his work to much, other than to say he really did do a good job. And i agree with @SasGal@xanga People really do need to get over the “omg they are naked” phase and just take art for how it is, ART!

lol the fact someone thought that this was necessary in the world is just WEIRD. i’d be creeped out if i were them lol.

@ask_ashleyyy@xanga - Haha. I had to look really closely and it surely looks as if it were.

@ask_ashleyyy@xanga - haha, i didn’t even notice that at first!

The law says as 18 you are an adult (in US if I remember correctly). Even those under 18 has seen nudity in movies, commercials, etc. This piece showcased above is technically not even truly naked. Young artists render life drawings from the “artistically nude”. There is probably just more stigma regarding the above image because of who the subjects are. They aren’t even in a compromising position.

WTF?

this is the creepiest thing ever

They are teenagers. Gomez works for Disney! and she’s posing NUDE!?… Bieber hasn’t even gotten her first period, yet! What is she doing trying to commit to someone??! It’s awesome… I’m all sorts of for LGBTQ ri—Wait, what?… Bieber’s a BOY?! O_o

i think it’s pretty cool. i think paris is my favorite.

Selena’s boobs ain’t that big, and her thighs are NOT voluptuous. I’ll assume the artist wasn’t going for realism.
guest
And I bet the Lovelyish writers still giggle when someone says “penis.”
Give me a break.

Whether or not something is art is always up for debate.
Doesn’t even look like them.
guest
It’s kind of creepy.

I’ve seen a lot stranger art than this… But yeah, it’s creepy. Definitely not a piece I’d buy for my home.
guest
Creepiest fan ever.

simply..why?
guest
Big fucking deal. You wanna censor this art? Then someone ought to censor Lovelyish. Who knows, it might be worth reading then.

I think if Justin Beiber is so ready to make himself available in every way to the public, theres bound to be some bronze images of his schlack. I bet he digs the attention anyway. Theres no nudity here, although I wouldnt be opposed to it. We often seen art with children and adults alike in various forms of undress. Nakedness is NOT PORNOGRAPHY people. Christalmight #voiceofreason
Its art, call it whatever you want, to someone its important.

If you think that art is risque you’ve lead a very sheltered life indeed!

Please people, don’t attack the writer’s ability just because you disagree with her opinion. This is America and we get to have our own opinions and we get to write about them if we want to. If you think it’s art, then say you think it’s art and back up your argument. Quit making your replies personal and no I don’t work for lovelyish.

This guy has done these statues of other celebrities. He did one of Paris (I think dead from an overdose?) and he did one of Britney giving birth (yea, it showed it all *vomits*).
guest
This statue will be more than a little amusing sometime in the next two years, when they are no longer a couple.
guest
Creepy. That’s all.
guest
Lol @ everybody’s comments… I like all of them, the fact that the ‘nude’ part had to be brought in does creep me out a little bit (since she is a Disney star/ and he has a kid based follow), but very creative.
guest
He did her boobs wrong. Just had to point that out..
guest
I say it’s wrong. I don’t think it’s right to make something like that without the subjects permission.
guest
It’s supposed to be funny..
“Justin & Selena Forever?” Come on, people!
guest
Ew! That is so weird! I would be creeped out if I ever saw that in person

Creepy.

oh that’s awkward as fuck…

I wouldn’t consider that art…

The idea is interesting, but inappropriate. He should of made it some random couple instead of modeling after real people… ESP young famous stars,… so wrong…
guest
OMG NVM, saw his other work!! He is quite artistic and talented… but please don’t make naked sculptures of people without their permission!!! GROSS AND CREEPY. eww……………..
