I never really understood why people hav celebrity role models. My friend tells me that Paris Hilton is her role model, and that almost makes me sick. I never felt like I could relate to any celebrity. But after over the past few years, I’ve finally found a celebrity I can relate to.
Who else would I be talking about other than Lily Allen? (Now, Lily Rose Cooper).
Impeccable and unique style make this girl one of the people I wish I could dress like daily. Lily has never succumbed to just one style. Instead, she wears what makes her feel confident. She is not stick thin, nor is she plus-size, she is average for her age and height. Lily isn’t one to conform to a specific image just because that’s what the music industry tends to promote.
Whether in an interview or in her music, Lily finds it important to say exactly what she feels. In her song “F**k You” off her album “It’s Not Me, It’s You” (F**k You, from Amazon) she says, ”So you say, it’s not OK to be gay, well I think you’re just evil.”
Overall, Lily impressed me because she hasn’t seemed to change because of fame. Lily tells it how it is and she stands up for what she believes in. She stayed true to herself and who she was. That is something that stands out to me. Everyone should be proud of who they are. How could anyone not look up to this girl?
Tell me, Lovelies: Do you think a celebrities are good role models?

Some celebs are…. but in general, I would say put your faith in something else.

Isn’t she a cokehead? IMO if so that’s not really role model material…

It depends on the celebrity. Even when I was younger, I thought it really depended on the celebrity. There were plenty of celebrities that I loved how they dressed or I thought they were ballsy, but I didn’t think of them as role models, or a person I wanted to model my life after. My mom was a role model. Miss Youngbird, the woman that first introduced me to real feminism, was a role model. My history teacher that was a Freedom Rider in the 60′s, she was a role model. I thought celebrities were cool, but I can’t think of a single one that has done anything I consider worthy of being a role model.

I have a few crushes on creative minds, but they do the behind the scenes magic and are usually not in the spotlight…often times, authors or screenwriters like charlie kaufman.

She smokes, does drugs, has been to rehab, cusses in every sentence that comes out of her mouth.
You sure know how to choose ‘em.

Love her music.

I think shes awesome

Oh yeah, let’s have a cokehead be a role model for you.
And people wonder why America’s so hated.
guest
^ HATERS GONNA HATE.
I think her song The Fear is wonderful. It’s so real. Talks about life in America and how we’re all programmed to want the things we do… I recommend it for all of you. Well, except for the people freaking out about her personal life. Oh wait, didn’t OP say she likes her for the POSITIVE things she portrays? We all have our vices, people. I’m sure you’ve never done anything wrong in your lives, though, so I’ll shut up now.

Your style idol and music idol, si? I love Lily Allen songs. She also has a GREAT first name
I think celebrities are good role models. Definitely someone like Beyonce. Independent, talented, beautiful, not super stick thin, is her own person. UGH SHE IS SO AMAZING.
But my number one idol is Avril Lavigne. People hate on her a lot but I will always be her biggest fan. Her songs on her album are beautiful and I will love her no matter what.

@ohforrealson@xanga - Say it, gurl.

I guess if you’re the type of person to have role models it all depends on what you specifically look up to, not whom. No one is perfect and even if she did have problems with drugs who the fuck cares. We all have done or will do shit that we are not very proud of. My own mother was a horrible alcoholic and almost completely tore our family apart but I still look up to her for quitting cold turkey years ago. That is the difference. There is no such thing as a perfect role model in which you can look up to everything they do. Infact it’s better to have a role model that is more realistic and goes through up’s and down’s like most people do. And it’s even better when they are strong enough to get over those hurdles. If that is what she is to you then I don’t see a problem in you looking up to her.

@MoonFaeEyryan@xanga - she isn’t a cokehead, no. She’s pregnant now anyway. I dunno where the fuck you read that, but then I saw on a post about the London riots you said the rioters are doing the right thing. So you seem pretty ill informed on most fronts.

Usually the best role models aren’t in the spotlight.
guest
Not really. I don’t find celebrities particularly well-informed or original in most cases. Where I *might* go to them for advice… perhaps beauty-related things. I definitely don’t feel that most of them are qualified to speak about politics or how to succeed in personal relationships.

Good choice!

As for role models… fuck that. I’ll make my own mistakes. I don’t want someone telling me to do or not do something. I want to learn from these things myself.

I love Lily Allen!

I once told a British friend of mine I liked her music and he said “She is kinda a chav” haha
I have certain celebrities I admire for one thing for another, but I don’t think I consider anyone “my role model”.
guest
I find it odd that you praise her style first. I would think a role model should be based more on personality than looks. But, since you addressed it a bit later, I guess it’s okay.
guest
Best thing to do is to know what you like in a person and just be that yourself. Probably won’t find anybody that fits it perfectly.

She’s too fat. Just like Adele is too fat to be a role model. For me it’s gotta be Duffy.

@frostbitpanda@xanga - i think that it’s important to me that Lily isn’t “Stick Thin”. She’s an attainable person.. she doesn’t give into the thought and belief that to be successful you need to be like everyone else. She never let her industry overtake who she was. Fat wouldn’t be the word I would use to describe her. Lily is beautiful.
Most people wouldn’t consider Amy Winehouse “beautiful” but she was skinny. Real skinny.

@MoonFaeEyryan@xanga - in fact, she is not a cokehead. you should listen to her song “Everyone’s At It” or just check out the lyrics: http://artists.letssingit.com/lily-allen-lyrics-everyones-at-it-1p43m7g#ixzz1UvY5aD1I
she admits she isn’t perfect but she’s above all the coke & pills
“I’m not trying to say that I’m smelling of roses
But when will we tire of putting shit up our noses“
guest
She has a third nipple.

I’d have to say the only celeb that I’d look up to as a role model would be SNSD Seohyun
.
guest
I like Lily Allen, I admire Angelina Jolie, but I don’t necessarily have a celebrity role model.
guest
I think some celebrities can be great role models. I really look up to Chris Colfer as he’s humble, gay like me, and worked hard to achieve his dreams.
