Shine from Yahoo! came up with this list of the top instant turn-offs that women have with regards to men. Check out the list and see if you agree!
- Bad breath
- Glamour shots – of your dog
- Greasy hair
- Mean streak
- Zero sense of humor
- Dirty apartment
Hmm, I don’t know about the “glamour shots of your dog.” I’ve never met a guy that does that. Some of these seem a bit nit-picky, but the mean streak and zero sense of humor are two that I definitely agree with!
What do you think about the list? What are your major turn-offs?

I would love a guy who does great shots of his dog. As far as dirty apt. do we mean “hoarder dirty” or just messy, the second wouldn’t be that much of a turn off to me.
guest
I don’t think I’d mind glamour shots of the dog.

You haven’t had a love interest who does doggy glamour shots because if there are any men doing that, they’re not barking up your tree.
guest
I agree with all of them except the glamour shots and the messy apartment.

Neat freak germophobic perfectionists and manipulators ring all my alarm bells. Also an alarming lack of flirtation/interest. I also can’t stand the being around someone who’s drunk or smokes. I literally get ill from that. But that’s just added to the list above. Well mostly. I don’t mind the glamour shots of a dog in the list and the bad breath is a minor thing that could easily be fixed without expecting the guy to change much otherwise. If he’s really interested, he’ll learn to brush his teeth or there won’t be so much kissing is all.

I think everyone is different, but there are definitely a couple I can agree with. Mean streak and no sense of humor are both a complete failure for me.

blondes (okay, okay… I like some light brown haired guys… that’s about as far as I’ll go)
short hair (buzz cut… NOT okay)
earrings/piercings (one is okay…)
tattoos
baggy jeans and shirts
backwards hats
guys that are OBSESSED with football
guys who smell….or wear too much cologne
shorter than me… NO (I’m 5’3″!!!)
guys who have no vocabulary whatsoever
cocky guys… confidence is nice, but not “i’m the shit” let me SHOW OFF!
guys who check out/flirt with other girls
hmm there’s probably many more. I’m choosy.

constantly fidgets on his smartphone/bad common courtesy-lack of public etiquette, asshole driver, food crumbs/half eaten food in his room that looks like it has been sitting there for more than a day, overall bad hygiene, inconsiderate smokers/irresponsible alcoholics, scary tempers tantrums, etc.
guest
Some of my biggest turn-offs are blondes (of any sex), really short hair, & greasy hair. Ew.

Ties in with bad breath: I “dated” (and I say this lightly) a guy that had a bad habit of not brushing his teeth. BLEH! I’d go over to his house after my classes to hang out and he’d greet me with nasty teeth. Not to mention his were the type that seemed to gather white gunk while he slept. JEEBUS!
He would always be like “But I just woke up!” and I’d respond with “I texted you 30 minutes ago to let you know I was coming, no excuses!”
I think the dirty apartment is another one. I can handle a little mess or clutter (Though I myself am a neat freak) but I hate it when things are actually dirty. Like when they have cups full of random liquids around, dust, old food etc etc. When I have to double check before sitting or setting my things down somewhere I think it’s an issue.
I think a personal one of mine is when he’s the type to be obnoxious or make a scene. This includes being mean to retail/food workers and such. If he’s an embarrassment or rude in public then I probably wont keep him around for long.

omg i really agree with the greasy hair part. and greasy face with obviously clogged pores. gross! and definitely a guy with no sense of humor is a turn off. i tried talking to this guy friend of mind and his head was so hard, like that of a robot’s. i truly tried to joke with him but he just doesn’t get it…

If glamour shots of your dog means dressing up your dog….. then all of the above, but all are topped by smoking. Seriously, I had this horrible school-girl-esque crush on my mentor’s son…. He was PERFECT… attractive, smart, a musician, then I found out he smoked….and it all the moisture was instantly sucked out of my vagina….

Dirty apartment is actually not one of my top turn-offs.
guest
Turn offs? spiritual deadness, arrogance, self-loathing, laziness, lack of imagination, Zero sense of humor, selfishness, too much cologne, lack of passion for life, more dollars than sense.
guest
disrespect is #1 on my list
guest
Bad odor coming from anywhere besides the ass, chest hair, greasy hair, no humour, immense phone/itouch attachment, laziness, cornrows, dreads, disrespect, selfishness, arrogant, irresponsible… my list can go on for quite a bit.
sunflower / 413 posts
Bad body odor, not necessarily blonde guys but guys that have that realllly light blonde hair with like really blonde eyelashes and eyebrows (creeps me out), poor hygeine in general, gingers, and short and/or scrawny guys.
guest
awh, sadly a lot of you girls sound rather shallow
guest
@chicbananas@xanga - dog joke. haha. that kind of made me chuckle a little bit.
guest
These all seem reasonable to me because they deal with either a bad personality or bad hygiene, and can mostly be controlled.
I’d like to add: Guys who pants are hanging halfway down their ass. You look like a fool.
guest
agree with the greasy hair one
guest
I agree with all of these, but I’d also include disrespectful, bad etiquette, bad BO, smoker (the two smells I can’t stand), irresponsible alcoholics, bad temper, gambling addict, selfishness, arrogance, laziness and lack of ambition.

Mine are more personality-related…biggest turn-offs to me are immaturity, chauvinism, unhealthy obsession with his car, only talks about sports. Also the whole frat-boy aesthetic is a HUGE turnoff to me. If I see a dude wearing an AE polo with a popped collar and aviators, I am going to stay the fuck away from that guy because 8 times out of 10 he will be a douche.

I don’t like guys who are super gross/dirty.

No sense of humor turns me off the most out of all of those. I can handle a bit of a mean streak because I’m frankly a bit cruel sometimes. And the hygine type stuff is whatever as long as he takes care of those things most of the time. But I really cannot stand binge drinkers or alcoholics. It’s one of the most disgusting things to me. Arrogance, especially when they don’t even realize how cocky they are. Which brings me to my next turn off-no self awareness. I can barely be friends with someone like that let alone date them. Jealousy and being way too sensitive is also something I don’t tolerate for long with men OR women.
guest
Mine is if he doesn’t have his shit together. I don’t want a project.
guest
I don’t think I’ve ever heard of the glamour shots for dogs thing either. o.0
magnolia / 1054 posts
I agree, with all of the above! especially the one with no humor!
sunflower / 464 posts
dirty aparment or messy apartment? dirty=ew messy=whatev. I’d say yeah all those are turn off’s…but WTH is up with the glamour dog shots? Ehhh…weird. I didn’t know that was happening so much to constitute it as a problem or turn off…?
guest
All of these are turn-offs for me except for the doggie glamour shots and the dirty apartment. It’d be hypocritical of me to reject a guy for these because I have both!
guest
1. douchebagginess
guest
Well no wonder . . . .
guest
lol i wouldn’t mind glamour shots of their dog, but i’ve definitely met boys who love their pups XP
guest
Not a fan of a guy who doesn’t know how to be hygienic via bad breath, B.O, greasiness, etc., etc. Also a really big turnoff is when they don’t have ambitions or goals for themselves, there’s so many opportunities out there, but I guess in general any individual who doesn’t have that driven quality really turns me off.

I don’t mind a mean streak… it depends on how mean it is. Like if he’s a terrible person that feeds kittens to his hunting dogs… I’d prefer him to not be that way. However, if he’s cynical, has a sarcastic sense of humor/ deprecating sense of humor…that’s really my perfect guy. I hate people who are too nice.
guest
I disagree with the mean streak, but that’s probably because my boyfriend and I both have one and its fun
guest
One of my biggest turn-offs is when a guy gets embarassed
When boys cry
Perfectly manicured anything (ie. eyebrows waxed, straightened hair)
guest
I agree with the no sense of humor!
