Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (Disney Special Platinum Edition), from Amazon
Yes, that’s right, there are a total of three Snow White movies being made: Relativity Media’s one with Lily Collins, the dark version starring Kristen Stewart, and now, a Disney film with Natalie Portman rumored as the famous princess.
The movie is called The Order of Seven, and will be directed by Michael Gracey, who normally works with visual effects. As it turns out, Disney has been developing this “China-set epic” for nine years, but production won’t start until next year. It will be an action film that focuses more on the seven dwarfs, but won’t be like the original Grimm Brothers tale:
In this iteration, the seven are a 19th century-set disparate band of international warriors belonging to a centuries-old order who have lost their way. Their meeting with an Englishwoman being chased by an ancient evil is the catalyst for their redemption.
The Huffington Post provides more about Snow White’s role:
An Englishwoman goes to Hong Kong for her father’s funeral and realizes that her evil stepmother was plotting her murder, at which point she turns to the warriors for protection.
So Lily Collin’s movie hits theaters on March 16, KStew on June 1, and Natalie and her unknown cast-mates in probably about two years. Is that enough space between Snow White films for you, Lovelies?
At least this version sounds majorly different than the other two. I must say though, if anyone can pull this off, it’s Disney.
Will you see this movie, Lovelies? What do you think about all these Snow White-based movies? [via The Hollywood Reporter]

I’ll probably just rent them when they’re released on DVD.

It sounds really good. Of course I have to wait for some previews but it sounds like something I’d actually watch in theaters!

I will have to wait until they film it and release a preview. Until then I can’t really say if I will see it or not. It sounds cool though.

After that last Twilight movie I was forced to sit through I refuse to see anything else with Stewart.

Natalie would make SUCH a better snow white, especially after seeing her as the white swan <3 She’d be perfect for the role.

What is with the Snow White mania? She’s the worst of the princesses, imo. I mean, what does she DO? She sings, runs around like a blithering idiot, cleans, and dies. Then, she “thanks” the 7 men who risked their lives to save her by running off with some Prince she’s met once.
But hey that’s just my opinion and my soap box.

Has anyone seen the older people version of Snow White? I think it’s Snow White, a Tale of Terror. It’s got a little bit of a different spin to it. And in that one Snow White doesn’t end up with the prince.

I’m going to wait for the trailers before determining whether or not to see the movies.
