Like many other people in the world, I have a bucket list. As a teenager, I wrote down all of the things I wanted to accomplish (many of which I have already done or are close to doing) so I’ve decided to revamp. My list doesn’t include the typical “jump out of an airplane” or “climb Mount Everest.” Here are the top 10off the beaten path things I have on my bucket list.
1. Swim with sharks, again. My boyfriend convinced me to do this the first time, and I have to admit, I was never so scared in my life. But once I was underwater, I had the most peaceful feeling. Above is a picture of the actual shark tank I dove in.
2. Live for one month without any electronics, modern devices. I am a sucker for any new electronic item. I am so in love with my Tivo and smartphone, yet I always wonder what life would be like without those things. Living the simple life, if only for a short while, would be amazing.
3. Write a book. This one is a little cliche, as I have seen it on many bucket lists. However, this one means something special to me. I have had two story ideas in my head for the past five years and I just can’t seem to get them to work on paper.
4. Go to stunt school. I guess this is the tomboy in me coming out. I have always thought it would be awesome to go to stunt school. Imagine how it would feel learning how to properly jump out of building, race a car and shoot a gun.
5. Learn how to cook well. My mother is an amazing cook and for some reason, I have never asked her how to teach me. If I could learn how to cook a spicy fajita or delectable italian dish like her one day, I would be satisfied.
6. Visit every Disneyland park in the world. I am admittedly a Disney freak and have gone to Disney World in Orlando, Florida, more times than I can remember. However, I desperately want to visit every Disney theme park in the world. Tokyo and Paris, here I come.
7. Do location scouting for a movie. I have been interested in movies for as long as I can remember. I don’t want to act in a film, direct one or even write one, I just want to scout the locations they’re going to film at. Location scouting is such an integral part of a film’s story and I would love to be a part of it.
8. Surprise someone by being fluent in another language. I tried for years in high school to learn to speak Spanish fluently, but now I can only read the language. How awesome would it be to totally knock someone off their feet and just fluently start speaking a completely new language?
9. Give blood. While I want to be able to do this to potentially help another person, doing this would also help me combat one of my phobias. For my entire life I have had an extreme aversion to needles. Being able to conquer that fear while doing a good deed at the same time would be magnificent.
10. Retrace my ancestors’ steps in London. My mother’s side came from Liverpool, and I have always wanted to go there. I hope to be able to retrace my ancestors’ steps overseas one day.
So tell me, Lovelies: What is on your bucket list?

I think swim with the Sharks thingy makes good sense, at least before the Chinese restaurants get to them and lob their fins off.
The rest of of the list, I am sorry to say, is pure….nonsense.

After seeing Jaws for the first time, last month, I’d be too afraid to do #1 haha.

Donate blood. It’s quick, free (and you get cookies!), and you could save a life (or lives).
Believe me, it’s painless (though if they go to “shift you to get you comfortable” be sure not to let your arm move, though that may be it shifting in my fat).

‘unique’.. hmm

I thought it would be something out of the ordinary. The first one is unique…. the rest… meh.

Live in all the cities I’ve always wanted to live in (already checked one off the list: Chicago! Now it’s just Toronto, London, Savannah, Seattle… probably more will be added)
Write a CHILDREN’S book (ironic because I don’t necessarily like children)
Meet Dave Letterman (and quite a few other famous people… like Jimmy Carter!!!)
Attend a major awards show
Win a pulitzer prize..
okay I’m done. I think this is just a list of my dreams hahahaha

#8, ive done, i was always really diligent with my spanish and 2 years ago started dating someone from guatemala and i now speak fluently. its amazing. its actually kind of awkward to surprise people whove known you forever and im shy to speak in front of some of them but sometimes, while were talking, i think “wow, two years ago i never could have had this conversation” and its amazing. stick with it. i still have a huge stack of notecards that im constantly replenishing because i want to learn every word and never be confused.

I really wish I knew how to speak Spanish. At my last job, there were so many customers who only spoke Spanish. I thought it would have been so cool to bust out and start a conversation in Spanish.
All these things are pretty cool. I’d be too chicken to go to stunt school lol. I’ve swum with sharks before too but it was just in a regular beach and the sharks swam all around. It was scurrry.

I wouldn’t bother with the other Disneylands…Orlando is the best they have to offer. I’m in Paris right now; Disneyland Paris has 2 parks and is pretty much exactly the same as Orlando.
But hey, don’t let me deter you, if you’re determined by all means go ahead. Just warning you that you’ll probably be as disappointed as I was. =/

The location scouting thing is pretty unique, I must say. Never considered something like that before! My bucket list is pretty general….experience and see everything pretty much sums it up

Ah. Thank you for the inspiration, I think I will blog about my own bucket list this evening. Mine includes:
1. Marry my best friend
2. Qualify for the Boston Marathon
3. Compete in an Ironman
4. Become financially secure enough to take a 365 day Hiatus from the “Real World”
5. Become a director at a large, well known fashion retailer
6. Earn at least my Master’s degree (I never really want to stop pursuing educational opportunities)
7. Start and maintain a successful fashion blog
8. Learn to drive a stick shift and buy myself a mean car
9. NEVER sacrifice my health or self-esteem in favor of laziness
10. My overall goal is to never become complacent with life. Great opportunities come to those who actively seek them out and pursue what they want without losing focus.

@xINDESTRUCTIBLE@xanga - wow ironman? that would be impressive. good luck girl!

I’ve always thought that a circus class would be fun. Also, stand up paddle boarding… but I don’t really have a bucket list. Maybe I will make one someday, but the idea doesn’t really appeal to me right now. What I want more than anything is to just live my life in the best way I can.

I like your list. I would also like to learn about my ancestors and visit every Disney theme park in the world. Good luck with the no electronics. I once went two days without using my phone and it was pathetic how difficult it was.

It’s funny the things that some people think is unique. Granted, some of these are fairly unique, but a lot of people want to write a book. But everyone sees themselves as more unique than they really are. I’d also like to point out that I hate myself for using unique in this way, but the dictionary says that unique doesn’t have to mean one of a kind. Still… I dunno.
@Ashley Nicole Anders@facebook - This is the perfect response to this. The problem is that people want too many things out of life (which leads to a lot of problems like infidelity, depression, etc) when it’s more satisfying to enjoy what you have and to take advantage of the opportunities that come your way.

These aren’t really that unique, but good luck
Most of my “bucket list” is just traveling and seeing stuff. I’d like to scuba dive. I’m lucky enough to have done a handful of kinda amazing things already. I hope to travel to a new country every year during my vacation time (we’ll see what happens with that…) but all I want out of life is to keep my friends close, and fall asleep every night on a tempurpedic bed with a man I love and our dog next to us on the floor.

Giving blood is on mine, too, & giving a server a $10 tip when my meal is less than $10. The rest of mine are listed on my blog:
But it’s not a bucket list! It’s a “101 in 1,001″ List, which gives me 1,001 days (or two & a half years) to complete it. I’m doing pretty well so far! http://www.suburbansweetheart.com/p/101-in-1001.html

I share some of that in my mental bucket list.
Stunt school? I never knew that there was such thing. I thought people were just born with it or had been in gymnastics throughout their whole lives.

We have a lot of the same stuff on our list! I also want to do numbers 1, 2 (maybe lol), 3, 5, 6, 8, and 10 (but all over Europe, not just UK). I attempted donating blood before and passed out haha.
guest
These are not what I’d consider unique, good luck on giving blood.

cool list.
i’d like to do most of these but number 6 is the only of these actually on my list.

Give me a summer job at Lovelyish and I’ll speak only Spanish so ya’ll can learn it :p
Lately, everyone here where I live has had the need to start ticking off things their bucket lists, myself included. It might be the paranoia of the daily shootings around the city kicking in, but I am glad I am actually getting to know this city (as if I was a tourist) at last.

Stunt school is very interesting. Haha.

@WaitingToShrug@xanga -
Stand Up Paddle Boarding is SO FUN. We offer it through my fitness center where I work, we did it for our staff retreat this year. It is SO HARD, but totally worth it!
guest
I never heard of a bucket list till the movie came out. I suppose composing a list would make you more motivated.
guest
Right now my bucket list consists of:
1. Create a bucket list
guest
I’m going to add some of those to my own!
guest
i love your list, especially 2. and 4 would be very enjoyable.
as for the needles, UGH. i have a fear of them too (although i’ve had to accomplish that fear many times in the past few years), and there has only been ONE nurse that has not hurt me. i once went to the ER for dehydration and they needed two people and four different stabs to find a vein. WTF. i was in soo much pain, it hurt soooo bad, and it’s giving me the shivers just thinking about that specific time. but one day i decided to get std tested (gotta be safe. :]) and i told her i didn’t realllly want needles coming in contact with my arm, and she just told me it wouldn’t hurt. HA, that’s what they all say. and this was in a vein i couldn’t even see; i thought she was lying when she was goin for it. and just like that, without even noticing, the thing was in and she was gettin my blood. :] first and only person to do that.
i wish you luck on that one.

Awesome List! I like most of those even the sharks! Location scouting would be awesome.

I have tracing my ancestors on my bucket list, but being from Liverpool anyway, I have family in Eire that i have never met before so meeting them is definitely up there!
guest
you do know that London and Liverpool are totally different cities…like in totally different parts of England.
guest
Liverpool isn’t in London….
Awkward.
