I recently told you about the medley of Canadian covers that Taylor Swift performed at her concert, and my love of covers. I absolutely love it when a major artist puts a new spin on a great song. Sometimes, I think the new version is better than the original. Here are just a few of my favorites

“Baby One More Time” by Matt Cardle. I (partially) watched X Factor online last year, and came across this song. Britney is one of my favorite artists, and this cover did her justice. Besides, what’s cooler than slowing a fast pop song and turning it into a ballad? Swoon.

“Lil Red Riding Hood” by Amanda Seyfried. Amanda’s soft voice is so much more pleasant than the original by Sam the Sham and the Pharaoh’s, which is kind of creepy. This version is sweet, with just the right amount of haunting.

“Jolene” by Mindy Smith. I love this song. There are a lot of covers of “Jolene” out there, but this one is by far my favorite of all time.

“Your Song” by Ellie Goulding. I first discovered Ellie when I saw her cover of Rihanna’s “Only Girl in the World,” and fell in love. However, her cover of Elton John’s “Your Song” is the best version I’ve heard. She even performed it for Prince William and Kate Middleton and their wedding reception.

What are your favorite cover songs, Lovelies?
