Yesterday, I Graduated from Northumbria University in Newcastle on a perfect day, in a perfect dress.
I bought the dress about 4/5 years ago when i was at College, but thanks to stupid lifestyle choices, I gained weight and couldn’t get the dress on anymore. I was heartbroken! Over the last 2 years (ish), I’ve lost 2 stone, and happily graduated in my Vivienne Westwood LBD.
Usually for formal occasions, I tend to cover my legs because of the tattoos on my ankles, but yesterday, I braved it and proudly showed off my Batman Symbol and Red Lego Brick.
I’m proud to graduate from Northumbria University.
I’m proud of being able to wear my Vivienne Westwood black dress again.
I’m proud of my tattoos.
And i’m proud of the person I’ve become.

This is quite a coincidence actually as we had some students come into school to talk to us today who had just graduated from Northumbria and I’ve just sent for an NU prospectus!

There needs to be more simple, interesting stuff like this on xanga. Well done, and congrats on graduating!!!!!!

@torturetoy@xanga - Gowns in England don’t, no. They’re extremely traditional, and I had to fasten mine together with safety pins and bobby pins, aha.
guest
@catastrophic_surveys@xanga - lol Nice. So, traditional gowns are ones that don’t zip up… That’s pretty cool.

@torturetoy@xanga - yeah, I graduated last week, and mine literally sat on my shoulders, and then the hood (which is separate) went over the top, but there was no way of securing them together (I believe some have velcro, though). So, yeah, we had to use about six safety pins and hair grips to hold it all together, haha.

Congratulations, and you looked stunning. <3

What was your degree?

@omg_therainswet@xanga - Northumbria is an amazing university, i’d recommend it to anyone
@catastrophic_surveys@xanga - The gowns were more like capes. The red scalf-like bit either went on a button or had to be pinned on.
Thank you for the comments x
