The Jersey Shore producers are headin’ to dixieland. But before you southern gals get your perfect panties in a bunch, don’t worry Snookie and The Situation aren’t rolling to town.
Instead, it will be a whole new cast of southern belles and gents aiming to get famous off of drunken (but oh-so-classy, we are in the south, after all) shenanigans. So get out your finest Lilly dress and matching hair bow, casting begins this summer and producers are on the hunt for the proudest southerners who want to “Party their asses off on the sickest reality show during one big Crawfish peelin’, Poboy eatin’, Bourgbon drinkin’, Dixie lovin’ bayou summer.” …I wish I even knew what that meant.

Shouldn’t this be titled “Sterotypes that will probably get PROMOTED when MTV does the south”?

Oh God. I live in Texas and you have no idea how many people assume that everyone in Texas (or just people who live down South) rides horses and wears cowboy hats on a daily basis. I mean yeah, there are farms and shit… but there are big cities too. I don’t even have a southern accent. Shows like these are what make everyone stereotype. Bleh.

Just like @not_your_concern@xanga, I am from Texas and have to deal with all sorts of crappy stereotypes. I have a feeling that this show is not going to help matters at all.

not_your_concern@xanga- I am from Texas too and was basically going to say the exact same thing.

@betterdesigned@xanga - At least now you guys will see what we who live in Jersey have to put up with since Jersey Shore. :3

Well, “Dixieland” and poboys, etc. have nothing to do with Texas, culturally speaking, well…maybe East Texas. Maybe. For the most part, is culturally Southwestern, but really vast enough to have it’s own distinct identity. However, because we’re part of the southern half of the country, we’ll get lumped in with this. *sigh*

so alaska isn’t filled with mostly eskimos in igloos and polar bears drinking coca cola

i can already tell this is just gonna be a big fail and wont be as successful as jersey shore. i dont think anything/anyone can top the jersey shore cast, unless there are bigger douche bags in the south

@AmayaDoll@xanga - Now? *LOL* Well, having heard the same stuff for the last 27 years of my life, I would say that I have understood what actual NJ residents feel about the cast of ‘Jersey Shore’. The dumb redneck stereotype has been around much longer than I care to admit.

@betterdesigned@xanga - @not_your_concern@xanga -. @thesoftlights@blackhk - I know right! (I live in Texas myself). The Texan stereotype is ridiculous.

I’m from GA. I’ve heard a lot of weird misconceptions, like …everyone is toothless and marries their cousins; everyone is racist, homophobic and generally intolerant; we all own rebel flags.
Don’t hear many good things usually. And almost everyone who believes/questions these things has never even been to the state.

I love how all of the South is lumped together into one “culture”. It’s like saying New York…New Jersey…what’s the difference?

Lovely. I’m from Louisiana and people assume we are all either really stupid or creepy thanks to movies or we’re a bunch of freeloading criminals thanks to the news. I am not happy about this at all. This is just going to make the south look worse than most Americans view us.

Oh God.

bahahaha. i was born and raised in texas and i hear all the jokes. lol. sigh. though i do have a southern accent and say yall. but i grew up around dallas. meh. though they dont make men like they do in texas! yum. but ya, this show will fail.

I live in Tennessee. We’re not even real deep South, but in X-Files, the only two episodes set in Tennessee showed us to be church-in-a-tent, psychotic, and moronic. Now, let me be the first to say that lots of Tennesseans aren’t the brightest, but the crazies aren’t as common as tv and movies portray.

now all you southerners will know how it felt for me and my fellow new jersians when jersey shore came out. i think the show is absolutely hilarious. it’s like a train wreck… you can’t help but watch. but damn, i got a lot of shit because i live in a beach town. when i went away to college, whenever i introduced myself to new people and told them that i was from jersey, 9 times out of 10, they would say, “ohhh, you’re one of THOSE people harharhar.” everyone automatically thought i was some guidette skank that peed behind bars, deep throated pickles, “smushed” anything with a penis, and did cartwheels in dresses. i do none of the above.

@Hinase@xanga - It sure is! Let me just put on my big ol’ cowboy hat, ride my horse to town to buy a six pack and some cigarettes and use the word “ya’ll” all day long. Haha!

@evangeliaaa@xanga - We’ve had to deal with the stereotype LONG before this show, and Jersey Shore, ever aired. We feel YOUR pain, this is just adding to ours.

@evangeliaaa@xanga - lol @ your jersey-licious profile picture.
I live in the South, and the most annoying thing ever is the sorority girls. They are everywhere.

@betterdesigned@xanga - I know..the shame. Though I admit to saying ya’ll at times. Besides that, I abhor everything else of that stereotype..
