It was only a matter of time. The Casey Anthony verdict was announced just days ago, and the Florida woman is set to be released on Wednesday, July 13. And while her acquittal for first-degree murder remains controversial, at least we got some good memes out of it.
My favorites are the ones with Casey and O.J. Simpson. Which memes are your favorite?

@Jessica - PARDON ME, but Lovelyish IS accepting and promoting these memes.
The poster of the article clearly says and I QUOTE – “My favorites are the ones with Casey and O.J. Simpson.” The author has evidently told her audience she likes these memes and notified which ones are her “favorites.” Additionally, the comment “at least we got some good memes out of it” makes me SICK. A child has died.
It’s not a joke and it’s not funny. It’s TASTELESS. DISGUSTING. This post should be taken down. I’m not sure who runs the Lovelyish website, but they should be ashamed to have let this be posted.
Sure, maybe it’s AUTHOR of this post who I think is a horrible, terrible person for making these comments BUT THIS ARTICLE IS A REFLECTION OF ALL THOSE WHO WORK AT LOVELYISH and WHAT LOVELYISH STANDS FOR.
You should better control your content.

wow.. people need to get a sense of humor and lighten the fuck up. we aren’t laughing cause there’s a dead baby (however i’m a fan of dead baby jokes so sue me), we’re laughing cause these are just plain funny! i actually like the one with the penguin that says, “casey anthony found not guily.” have no idea who that is.. cause i didn’t until someone told me why everyone was posting stuff about it on facebook.. oops!

if you don’t like it get the fuck off the internet. you didn’t need to look at it people! is anyone else just getting pissed at these people or is it just me?

Wow, why do people have a stick up their ass? :/
I like the “Hide yo…” one, the Kanye West one, & the Dexter one. I don’t watch Dexter, but my roommate last year told me all about the show.

@missynicole2010@xanga - Agreed, yo … lighten up kids. It is insensitive, but a lot of it is satire, and all of it is freakin hilarious.
guest
@CecilliaMarie@xanga - Same.
guest
@missynicole2010@xanga - Nah I thought the same thing! None of them are making fun of Caylee, and most of them are making fun of the ridiculous situation that has been made out of it.
guest
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I find these funny. I think the situation is awful, but my way of dealing with awful things isn’t to cry about it, it’s to find some humor in it. And obviously someone is going to murder Casey Anthony at some point, so calm down.
daffodil / 1615 posts
I’m sorry but the hipster OJ one is probably the greatest thing I’ve ever seen. Does it make me a sick, insensitive bastard? Depends on who you ask, but I don’t care.
For everyone who doesn’t think it’s funny: stop judging those of us who do.
For those who do find it funny, stop judging those who don’t.
The moral of the story? Everyone, get over yourselves. Nobody is better than anybody else because of their taste in humor.

@kissmycouturex@xanga - There are memes for everything. That one guy who murdered his family? Millions of memes about him murdering his family. The internet is where fucked up people come and take pictures of fucked up things and add captions to them and make some of them pretty funny. It’s the internet, it’s going to happen no matter what. They can promote it if they want, because it’s the internet. Opinions or not, condoning it or not, it would have been somewhere already, being laughed at by some fucked up guy who likes this kind of stuff.
Y U NO UNDERSTAND?!
guest
My personal favorite was the Nancy Grace one
guest
@kissmycouturex@xanga - Call me devil’s advocate, but your comment is extremely hypocritical. Children die every day so why are you so hung up over this one? Just because you saw it on tv? How bullshit is that? These pictures are off the internet- and from a place known as the ‘cesspool of the internet’ no less. I don’t see how you’re even vaguely offended or even surprised.
guest
@andysigdelt@xanga - Yeah, these aren’t even the best ones I’ve seen today either. The internet is terrible about making horrible people suddenly hilarious. I’m flashing back to v-tech. At least the irony is that the joke’s always on them.
guest
i think its rude that people can make such memes out of people like oj and casey anthony; regardless of the verdict in their trial and regardless of them being guilty (or not) this is just sick. and making fun of may-be-murderers just waters down the whole situation, (and i’ll say it too, a child has died. and no, its not okay to make such memes just because “the internet is full of memes” or whatever, that’s just a failed excuse)

Dexter one. Oh and the Nancy Grace one for how damn true it is.
The humor is not that a child was killed, or that her mother might have gotten away with it. The humor is whole much publicity this got even though it happens (sadly) quite often. The REAL disgusting thing here is not the memes but the media who turned Casey into a celebrity.
guest
@Kyuketsuki_no_Megami@xanga -
No, I am not upset “just because [I] saw it on TV.” I’m an intellectual, caring human being and obviously the death of a child, whether publicized or not, disturbs me. If it doesn’t bother you, well you’re a sociopath and you can stop commenting back to me because that’s outrageously creepy.
Yes, I am aware that hundreds of children die everyday. It doesn’t matter whether or not a death is publicized. It shouldn’t be made into memes for the entertainment of others. Yes, the pictures “are off the internet.” My issue with this article is the way in which the pictures were discussed and the comments made about them, i.e. the author listing her favorites, deeming these memes not only suitable, but something to laugh at, and something to like.
If you’re going to respond back to my comments and attempt to have an intellectual discussion, please re-read my comments before responding. Additionally, “How bullshit is that” is not an argument, nor does it help defend your argument.
guest
@CrystalisLeaves@xanga - Just because some people are posting these memes, and they are all ready posted on the internet, we might as well post them and condone them, too? We might as well laugh at silly ‘memes,’ which involve the death and suffering of others and make light of it – for the sake for our own entertainment? We might as well list our favourites and have a good chuckle out of it?
You have the logic of a sociopath, congrats

@kissmycouturex@xanga - Thanks for the constant use of bold, by the way- it doesn’t make you inane at all. There’s one thing you’re clearly missing about these images, and it’s the one thing that’s ticking you off- they’re not made for the sole purpose of poking fun at a situation, but to further humiliate the person that they’re about. They’re being aggressive (there’s some bold for you) against Casey Anthony under the guise of dark humor, not supportive. This is something you clearly don’t get- either due to an age gap or environment or I don’t know what. But no one here is laughing at the death of a child- as you can see, none of them are about the little girl. They’re laughing at the shit justice system, the shit defense, and this insane woman who has somehow, by sheer irony, gotten away with murder. It’s ironic, and the best ironic commentary in these images happen to be the most funny. It’s dark humor, criticizing Casey Anthony. So, if you’re not comfortable with that kind of criticism and backlash against this woman, stay away from it. If you don’t get it, realize that it’s negative and just leave it alone. Otherwise, the rest of us will laugh at it and shake our heads that someone like this is being allowed to walk free.

@kissmycouturex@xanga - Well, if we’re going the route of insulting each other, you really do need to see a doctor about that stick up your ass. It’s so mainstream. /SarcasticHipsterKitty
Seriously, you could’ve ignored this if you wanted to. Let us “sociopaths” laugh at it if we want, but if you’re going to bitch and moan about the internet, where Anon is rule and 4shared can fuck up an 11 year olds life, I suggest you find refuge in the real world, where this shit is as acceptable as shooting puppies in the head.

@Kyuketsuki_no_Megami@xanga - It isn’t a “shit justice system.” I don’t have a “gap” or anything wrong with me… thanks for that comment, though. I’m actually a very intellectual person, as are you. You have no idea who I am, where I come from, or what I do and yet you feel the need to make personal judgments about my intellect over the internet? Attacking me on a personal level doesn’t make your points more valid.
Casey Athony had the right to a fair trial, and a fair trial she recieved. You’re like the rest of society who thinks that JUSTICE IS SERVED WHEN A GUILTY VERDICT IS REACHED. I get it, you want to see the ‘bad guy’ go down.
A “NOT-GUILTY” VERDICT DOES NOT EQUAL INJUSTICE. Oh look, I’m using bold again, you bad bro?
I never said the MEMES themselves are supportive, I said THIS WEBSITE is being supportive OF THE MEMES by posting them. We shouldn’t be “humiliating” Casey Athony at all. What good does that do? You’re upset about the verdict of the case…so what do we do? Make memes? Humilate her? Oh yeah, that’s gonna do something. Oh yes, justice is REAAAAALLLY being served now. Watch out!
guest
@CrystalisLeaves@xanga - I “could’ve ignored this if you wanted to.” Yes, I could have.
We all could stand by whenever social injustices occur.
Whenever spousal abuse occurs, we can keep silent.
Whenever someone takes away our rights, we can keep our mouth shut.
When an internet site posts ‘memes’ joking about the trial, verdict, and the accused woman of a murder case of a young child, I too could have very well ignored this.
I’m well aware. I chose not to. I think these images and this article are in poor taste, so I commented saying so.
And yeah, you’re right, this IS the internet – SO WHAT?
The internet isn’t this magical land where nothing that is posted, discussed, or made public matters. Just because this is posted to the internet doesn’t take away the seriousness of the case nor the disgusting images posted. Like suddenly because it’s CYBER SPACE it’s okay? Somehow your morals and judgement have gotten lost in the world-wide web, I guess. It’s virtual, though, so it’s okay.
I love how you and the majority of the people who try to comment rudely back to me would never dare any of it to my face. That’s another funny thing with the internet. You think you’re safe, you’re free to say anything you’d like because you don’t have to say it to that person’s face. It’s halarious.
guest
@kissmycouturex@xanga - Am I bad? No. And I’m not mad, either, but you appear to be. I said age gap, not intellectual gap. Try reading instead of scanning next time.
So, at first you’re mad because you think the website is encouraging people to make fun of the court case and you consider that bad, and now you’re saying no one should be attacking casey anthony? I think you’re terribly confused here- Are you against the verdict and that’s why you’re pissed or are you for the verdict and that’s why you’re pissed? If you didn’t care, you wouldn’t even be bothering to comment. At this point, I think you’re just looking for an excuse to rage on the internet and therefore can’t be debated with either way. If that’s the case, enjoy your anger management and we’ll just keep entertaining ourselves.
guest
@Kyuketsuki_no_Megami@xanga - You’ll keep entertaining yourself, eh? You’re commenting back to me too, sweetie. You act so high and mighty and above the internet drama but you’ve created it… and at this very moment in time you’re aborbed in it. All I’m doing is speaking my mind.
I never said I didn’t care, I do care about this issue, hence why I commented in the first place. Just because you do not comphrehend the points I have made doesn’t mean I am simply on a “rage” on the internet. I am speaking about issues which I care about. It’s a blogging website, I’m blogging. I’m writing. That’s what I do.
My whole point, which you somehow missed, is that these memes are in poor taste. Yes, they exist on the internet. But Lovelyish didn’t need to post them. Furthermore, they didn’t need to list their “favourites.” I am not for the verdict nor against it. That’s not the issue. She was found guilty in a court of law. I have no personal opinion on the verdict. The memes are innapropriate because of their inherit subject matter – the course case of a murder of a young child.
It is, if you believe it or not, perfectly acceptable to have differing opinions in life. If you think these memes are funny, appropriate, entertaining, awesome, cool, etc… good for you. I personally do not think they are any of the above. I don’t wish to further attept to validate myself nor my opinions for a stranger on the internet.
Yes, sometimes I do comment back. It’s interesting to have a debate with a person. It’s interesting to listen to different points of view, to offer counter views, and to gain perspective. But you haven’t taken it like that. Somehow, my perspective on this matter, which is different than yours, has offended you. It’s pretty overt. Pretty evident, that we can no longer continue this conversation.
I could be the nicest, most smart girl in the world. I could be dying of cancer. I could have a lot in common with you. I could share many of the same experiences. I could be an 83 year old man. @kissmycouturex@xanga - I’m sorry, did you take it as entertainment with what you’ve been writing? That wasn’t meant at all- I was meaning the memes. Again, stop taking this so personally- not everything everyone writes is about you. I could care less about you- this discussion is about the subject matter.
Of course the memes are technically in bad taste. That’s also part of the point of them, which you missed, again, I assume, because of an age gap. Hey, it’s not your fault- my father doesn’t find a lot things produced today even vaguely entertaining either. But when you get down to it, the entire culture of the internet is based essentially on poor taste coming from dark humor. That’s the way it goes. Again, if you don’t like it or can’t appreciate it, don’t bother with it. It isn’t mandatory.
I’m more than happy to have a discussion about it, but you came charging into this article, bold guns blazing, ready to have a shouting match, and that’s what you’ve gotten in return. If that isn’t what you intended, I’d suggest closer watch of your tone.
You speak about issues you care about. It’s a blogging website, you’re blogging, you’re writing, it’s what you do- yet you say you don’t give a damn what others have to say about what you write because of the stone age old reason of “You don’t know me”? In case you missed it, the entire point of blogging on the internet is so other people you don’t know (your loathed strangers) can read it and therefore invade your personal thought bubble. If you don’t like that either then I suggest you stop blogging and/or commenting. Your personal opinion isn’t worth a damn on the internet, and neither is mine. That’s why it’s the internet, the proverbial wild west, and why it, as a body, produces the kind of twisted humor that’s been imbued into things like these memes. Doesn’t matter where you go to blog, people will be posting them and talking about them, unless you decide to opt for some über censored christian blog-ring or something where those with sensitive predispositions don’t have to be stifled by the rest of the world’s sans-gêne.

guest
@kissmycouturex@xanga - But this isn’t a “social injustice.” This is, as @Kyuketsuki_no_Megami@xanga said, dark humor, but not about the child herself being murdered.
Some people in the world might ignore these kinds of things, abuse and denial of rights, but that’s a real life situation. You can get as pissy and grumpy as you want about the shit they post on the internet, but you’re not going to be able to stop it. You can stop shit that’s happening in real life. You can stop someone hitting their wife or someone being denied their rights, but you can’t fucking delete the internet. Some people think it’s hilarious, like me. I find the socially awkward penguin hilarious, because it’s not poking fun at the situation, it’s making fun of the people who have no idea what’s going on in the world. It’s not all “HEY LOOK OMG GIRL DEAD LOL WTF LETS POKE DEAD BODY WITH STICK LOL FTW.” I don’t see what’s morally wrong with laughing at penguins that don’t know what’s going on in the world. I don’t see what’s wrong at all.
By the way, I do think you need to chill out. I mean, seriously? Calling someone out on the internet is just as bad as insulting someone on the internet. No, I can’t find you, but if I could, I would be having this debate with you, out loud and in person. Don’t assume that because you’ve met some spineless internet loser before that everyone isn’t willing to stand up for their opinions. That’s like yelling at someone through your car window, “HEY, YOU’RE A BITCH!” and then driving off. Get off your high horse.
Yeah, I can use bold, too, omg.

@Kyuketsuki_no_Megami@xanga - I’m sorry I keep interjecting, but damn it, you’re fucking awesome.

@CrystalisLeaves@xanga - Hahahaha thanks.
It’s always a pain in the ass to debate with people on the internet anyway- so much more effective in person. One day…….
guest
@Kyuketsuki_no_Megami@xanga - Yeah, I totally get it. I used to be a debater, although not a very good one, it’s definitely a hell of a lot more effective to debate out loud than it is through the internet.
Don’t worry! We’ll get ‘em one day xD
guest
@kissmycouturex@xanga - A not guilty verdict when every bit of evidence points directly at the accused IS a miscarriage of justice. Like it or not, if she’s been unattractive she most likely would’ve been convicted on the same evidence.
It’s not about “everyone who goes on trial should be found guilty” it’s about “everyone who goes on trial with overwhelming evidence of being guilty should be found guilty”. That’s why the memes are around, because a woman blatantly got away with murdering her kid – but at least with things like this she’ll get SOME sort of punishment in that it will be a very, very long time (if ever, thanks to the internet) before people forget that she killed her kid.
guest
@BimmerPhile@xanga - They did not find her guilty beyond reasonable doubt. Professionals, following the law to every degree, did not find her guilty. Just because you’ve watched the trial doesn’t give you the power to deem her guilty or not guilty. This isn’t an episode of Law and Order. This is real life.
guest
@Kyuketsuki_no_Megami@xanga - What exactly is this “age gap” you are referring to? You have no idea how old I am. Regardless of your bitchy comments, I’m not going to stop blogging, nor writing. I’m actually a fucking awesome person. You don’t know my life, back off.
guest
@Kyuketsuki_no_Megami@xanga - You’d “suggest closer watch of your tone?” Oh, internet threats and/or suggestions from complete strangers are halarious. Nah, I’m good
Pretty sure I’m going to do exactly as I please.
guest
@kissmycouturex@xanga - No, a jury made up of your run of the mill “People of Wal-Mart” found her not guilty. The judge and attorneys had nothing to do with the verdict. The fact that you think “professionals” had anything to do with the verdict just goes to show how utterly uninformed you are.
But hey, you know, we can’t all be trendy like you and support murdering children because they cramp your style.
guest
@kissmycouturex@xanga - Now who’s mad? Once again, why are you taking this so personally? This has nothing to do with you, and yet you seem to have turned it into me attacking you which is so completely off I can’t even relate it properly. This is about the memes, so stop talking about yourself. Nobody cares if you’re “fucking awesome”, or if you think I’m bitchy. Or if I think I’m bitchy. This is the internet. No one gives a fuck what anyone has to say, therefore you can drop the feigned self-importance.
The age gap is in regards to the fact that you clearly don’t understand the memes, the point of them, the underlying reasons for them, etc., meaning that you missed the wave that those in the 17-25 age bracket caught a couple years back that makes these entertaining for us. You don’t find them funny, clearly because you don’t understand them. Thus it is highly unlikely you belong to this bracket that get the jokes/root behind these things. Therefore, an age gap. Really, I’m surprised you don’t know the meaning of ‘age gap’. Dictionary.com and all that.
Tone was in relation to the fact that you didn’t seem to understand peoples’ hostility to your “opinion” because you didn’t seem to understand the hostility that you yourself were putting out for the start. My suggestion was in regards to the fact that if you didn’t want people jumping down your throat then you should mind your tone. Unless you just enjoy trolling. In that case, go for it.

@kissmycouturex@xanga - Being that no one laughed at the baby, there are memes everywhere, and everyone is entitled to FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION, you’ve the right to express your displeasure, but not the right to tell them it shouldn’t have been posted; clearly it’s not your decision and you seem to be the only person who took it in the wrong context. Not everyone who laughs at Casey is besmirching Caylee’s memory. End of story.
orchid / 174 posts
@BimmerPhile@xanga - I have to agree with @kissmycouturex@xanga… There was NOT overwhelming physical evidence saying she was guilty. Or she would have been convicted. Actually I think her father had a lot more to do with it than she did, I think she’s guilty of negligent homicide. Not murder. But the memes are hysterical to me so I stick up for their existence.
guest
@kissmycouturex@xanga - @Kyuketsuki_no_Megami@xanga - definitely face palmed at “what generation gap” “you bad bro”. I’m not really sure how lovelyish can have bigger pissing contests than mancouch, but I like where this is going. I guess it’s like I always said “when men fight nobody wins. When chicks fight everyone wins.” As I side note when women and men fight it’s a cold war.
Internet memes are definitely the lowest form of humor. (just look at lolcats) It’s safe to say that the general public is displeased with the verdict or at least how the trial was handled, but at least we can get some low level black humor out of it instead of being completely jaded.
To be more impartial, internet memes aren’t always just a huge wart on our culture. Antwon “they rapin erryone” dodson’s sister got attacked in the middle of the night and he took than and ran with it. Got himself and his family out of the hood with his iTunes sales and popularity. Rebecca “friday” black took her ironic popularity and took part of it for her college fund and donated the rest to a japan relief fund.
It’s really all about how you want to spin it. different strokes for different folks. As for me I’ll take these with a grain of salt and get a chuckle out of it. The world is bad enough as is. Less hate, more tolerance, makes the world a better place.
guest
@flyfox65@xanga - Amen.
guest
@Jessica - Yeah but if lovelyish, heaven forbid, posted memes that made fun of rape victims, said “we got some good memes out of it / my favorite meme is… blahblah, which is your favorite?”, would you expect people to say “Oh yeah, lovelyish isn’t making fun of rape victims – they’re just letting everyone know these memes exist”…?
Not that I have any personal issue with the Casey Anthony memes, since I didn’t follow the case all that closely anyways and don’t feel some sort of illogical, emotional bond with either the family or Casey, but…
You’d have to assume the average lovelyish reader is completely brain-dead to expect them to believe you’re just “displaying” these memes and not, as the writing in the post shows, taking advantage of them.

@Jessica - Hold on, but the author did say, and I’m quoting here, “And while her acquittal for first-degree murder remains controversial, at least we got some good memes out of it.” She also listed her favourite ones. Mixed messages?
In either case, memes are hilarious. If you’ll excuse me, I’m off to help a friend paint a Cobain Rainbow.
