As a full figured girl, I used to think that being fashionable was never for me. Throw on a fresh pair of jeans, a clean shirt with sneakers and I was good to leave the house.
It wasn’t until I started college that I realized that even though I am a plus size girl, I could also look cute with my curves.
For a long time it was hard to find clothes that looked good on me. A lot of things just never fit right. Either I was swimming in material or I was showing more than I was comfortable with.
This was an ongoing cycle until I found Torrid, a store catering exclusively to full figured women. It surely and quickly became one of my go-to stores. Here are my 3 favorite places to shop for cute looks:
1. Torrid
This is the first store I had ever shopped at that made stylish clothing for girls like me; a store that catered soley to the fashionable plus sized girl. Trendy, girly, casual or even edgy, Torrid caters to all types of girl and the accessories are cute too.

2. Forever 21+
I have always browsed their website thinking, “if only I were thin enough to fit into these clothes.” Recently, I found out that they now make plus sized clothes that are just as stylish and cute as those for the thinner girls. The selection is still not too large and you can’t find plus sizes in all Forever 21 stores, but the clothes are worth perusing the website for.
3. Re/Dress
This store can only be found in the Boerum Hill neighborhood in Brooklyn, New York. The reason I enjoy this store so much is because it’s a consigment shop specifically catering towards the full figure fashionista. The real beauty of this shop is all of the vintage pieces. Shopping here is like going on an adventure to find the pieces that were sold by their previous owners that are just waiting for you to find them and incorporate them into your look. There is a bit of everything here that any full figured girl would love to have, shoes, clothes and accessories. A girl can’t go wrong with Re/Dress.
These are my favorites, which stores are your favorites to find stylish pieces?

Torrid has some great stuff. I think my sister would shop there constantly if we didn’t live 2 hours away from one. I’ve never heard of Re/Dress.

I love Torrid! But It’s SO expensive!!! Forever 21 is a little cheaper, but I don’t have either one in my area. I shop at Ross, and There’s this place called Loop18 that is teen clothes made by Lane Bryant.
Old navy and target is where i used to get a lot of my clothes too

I love Torrid! Forever 21′s not bad either, but the plus-size section at the store I go to is tiny compared to the rest of the store. For dressier stuff and basic wardrobe staples, I love Lane Bryant, especially since I work there and get wicked discounts!

LOVE Re/Dress. I also sometimes check places like Jessica London, Lane Bryant & Monif C. They’re all a little pricey & oftentimes way to “old” for me, but they’re worth looking at. And the GAP usually sells up to size 18 or so, as does Old Navy, so those, too. My problem is that I’m a 14, which is often right in between – too big for regular, too small for plus, so I’m in a crappy, unfashionable limbo!

I’ve never been to Torrid, I really want to! But there isn’t even one in my state
Right now I’m sort of borderline–14 is at the small end of plus size and the large end of regular, so it’s sort of weird. I know Old Navy carries up to size 20, but I have NEVER found a pair of pants there, even longs, that wasn’t a few inches too short. I like Vanity for jeans, and I get dresses and tops at Target most of the time. I’ve also recently discovered Forever 21 and I can fit into the occasional XL floating around on the racks (they’re hard to find).

Really helpful, I never knew that Forever 21 had a plus size section. Always afraid to go in there, so many anorexic chicks…

I love torrid but I can’t afford it.
I go straight to the Goodwill store.

@BarsandbathroomsX@xanga - So you’re saying that just because she’s overweight, she doesn’t deserve to dress how she wants to?
I’m sorry love, but that’s Bullshit.
@topic, I’ve always wanted to go to Torrid, but there aren’t any in Canada D: I know there’s a website, but it would be nice to go in and take a look.

@polyrhythm - The website is sometimes way better than actually going shopping in the actual store. There are so many more options online!

@hot_metalhead@xanga - I’ve never heard of Vanity, is that an online store or is it an actual store you can go shopping in?

@deemure@xanga - I know Torrid can get really pricey, but there are alternatives, like Target or Old Navy. Forever 21 is also pretty cheap in comparison to Torrid. I’ve never really gone to Goodwill, but I have had friends who have actually found cute things there.

@Zohejr Dehnadi@facebook - I can honestly say that I haven’t even heard of them until now, though I will check it out.

@Mariaantonietta - I think it’s both. They have a store at the mall here so I always go to the physical store, but they have a website too: http://www.evanity.com/. I like shopping there because they have long jeans that are actually LONG enough, and they have a wide range of sizes.

@Mariaantonietta - I’ve been to Forever 21 a few times and was not happy with what they had. Target however is wonderful. Even though they have a very small section they have very cute outfits with vibrant colors and patterns that make us plus size girls look fabulous! I do love the stuff in Torrid though. Only if I was rich = (

I love Torrid, but sadly they are too pricey for me, so I go to the avenue to go shopping at and they have some cute clothes in there
