Teen sensation Selena Gomez is beginning to make the transition from child star to a more grown-up celebrity, with her departure from Wizards of Waverly Place, the release of a new album and her starring role in this summer’s Monte Carlo.
And it looks like Selena’s career may continue to sizzle — the author of the Sex and the City novels and prequels recently revealed that Selena would be one of her picks to star in a Sex and the City prequel.
Author Candace Bushnell told The Daily Caller that she would love to see Selena play a young Charlotte York, the character originated by Kristin Davis.
I’m going to get into trouble for this, but I was looking at some pictures of Selena Gomez today and thinking ’she’d make a really good young Charlotte.’ She’s so pretty. I was like…gosh, wouldn’t she be great? Am I right or wrong? I’m not good at this.”
I can definitely see a slight resemblance between the two (that hair!), but more importantly, I think Selena carries herself in a really classy way — just like Charlotte. Do you Lovelies agree? Who else would you cast in a Sex and the City prequel?

I think it’s great for her career to step into more “serious” roles (if you’d like to call Sex and the City a “serious” role, ha ha. Oh and I’m not dissing the show by any means, I’ve enjoyed quite a few episodes!)
I think it’s a great time for her to start pursuing more mature roles and step out of that Disney style image. It’s a much better approach than to suddenly start dressing ‘sexier’ (sluttier), have some drug/booze scandals, a sex tape, some ‘leaked’ naked photos… As we have seen time and time again by a few countless, and nameless, Disney stars wishing to shed their ‘good girl’ facades.
Personally I’m almost 20 years old and never grew up watching Selena or other Disney stars, but I could definitely see her as Charlotte in the Sex and the City Prequel.

i agree that it’s time to see her in a more serious role buttttt not sex and the city. but that’s just my opinion because i think the show/movies are ridiculous and lame.

Does she want to have her name attached to a movie with “Sex” in the title, though? She’s considered a good role model for young girls, and unfortunately, role models have to watch where they step.

I never watched Sex in the City, but isn’t it… not trashy, but not classy? I think it would be a good transition, if this Charlotte character really is classy like you say, but I think it depends on the show/movie itself as well.

I think Selena Gomez would make a perfect Charlotte York!
Lauren Conrad as Carrie? Emma Stone as Miranda? Hilary Duff as Samantha? [ if she could play the sexykitten well enough]…. these are just off the top of my head. There could be someone better. But I still think Selena Gomez is a perfect choice.
I just hope the prequel doesn’t suck. I was a bit disappointed with the last SATC but I loved the first one.

@sarah2013 - :) I thought so too. I think I was more so just going by hair color and because Miranda is a redhead and so is Emma Stone, it’d be perfect. But she is a great actress and I think she’d play the part as well as look it quite perfectly.

She’s getting older she can do more mature films if she wants to, she needs to ditch her baby boyfriend though. I’d love to see her as charlotte, but I think a better choice would be Camilla Belle.
i’d probably cast megan park as Carrie and i agree with emma stone as Miranda or even Renee Olstead& for samantha I’d pick Arielle Kebbel
