Whether you’re trying to mellow out with yoga, zone out after a hard day, or just, well, make out with a cute guy, spin these 6 songs to put your soul at ease.

1. Massive Attack, “Teardrop”

One of my all-time favorite songs to blast late at night, driving in a car alone.

2. The Album Leaf, “Writing’s on the Wall”

Post-rock is the ultimate in bliss-out music; its drifting melodies and undulating instrumentation will have your ears and mind soothed in no time. I’m a huge fan of California’s The Album Leaf, and this song in particular.

3. Morcheeba, “World Looking In”

Let Skye Edwards’ voice wrap around you like a cozy blanket.

4. Thievery Corporation, “Assault on Babylon”

A reggae-tinged intro sweeps into a pulsing 4/4 beat that will send your thoughts somewhere far, far away.

5. The Kills, “Wait”

Jamie Hince and Alison Mosshart take a striking turn towards the mellow in this standout track from their 2003 debut.

6. Nouvelle Vague, “Guns of Brixton”

Nouvelle Vague does covers of classic songs, turning them into dinner-party versions of their former selves. Call me blasphemous, but I almost like their take on the Clash’s “Guns of Brixton” better than the punk-charged original.

What are your favorite chill-out songs, Lovelies?
