So we all know Pirates of the Caribbean started off as a Disney ride (Do you remember when the park ride didn’t actually feature Johnny Depp–OMG, nostalgia!). Now that it’s spawned four films and–gulp–$3.7 billion worldwide, I guess Disney’s saying, ‘why not repeat the same formula?’ In fact, they’re once again plucking movie inspiration from longtime park ride favorites. So which one is next?
The Matterhorn!
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie is slated to be called The Hill. It sounds pretty epic, if not completely ridiculous.
The idea behind The Hill is to do a thrilling, fast-paced movie centering on five young adventure seekers who, for mysterious reasons, are called to the top of the mountain and encounter a Yetis on the journey down.
Argh! Scary Yetis!
I can only say that I’m mildly excited about this. The storyline could be awesome (it hasn’t been written in full yet), but I’m getting a campy, 70s horror flick vibe. Maybe I’m just remembering what those rides look like…
Matterhorn Bobsleds
…Oh yeah. They look like that.
Do you like it when Disney turns rides into movies–or would you prefer they come up with original ideas?

This could be pretty cool. Pirates did well and the Haunted Mansion flopped, I guess it depends on literal they make it. I must say though, the Yeti on Expedition Everest is waayyy scarier!

Well, the ride was an original idea, so I think it’s alright.

You’re forgetting Country Bears! Cinematic gold. I say scrap Hill and just make a sequel to that thriller.

Do you think the Bumble is ready to come out of his 55 year hiatus and revive his acting career? Maybe he’s trying to avoid the typecast, but I think he should embrace it.

They need to stop hiring crap writers.

It’ll probably be so bad that it’ll be funny.

that seems similar to the Bigfoot ride at Knott’s Berry Farm with a hairy monster to scare riders.

I have mixed feelings about this… since I laugh while I’m on every Disney ride. :S But atm I’m just bummed about the whole NO MORE PRINCESSES ordeal.

When you are 5 years old, the Matterhorn is the scariest thing ever. I doubt I’d even be able to watch the movie.
