Ms. & Mrs. Minimergency(R) Kit for Her Gold Minimergency Kit for Her – Gold, from Amazon
Every year high schools around the world send thousands of lovely ladies off to college, and each summer is filled with graduation parties and gatherings to celebrate their new journeys ahead. Yet, there is always a bit of confusion as to what gifts would be fun, useful and inexpensive for the college bound.
Here I dug out some really cute and inexpensive gift ideas for the soon to be college freshies of 2011! Even if these don’t suit your soon-to-be college student, I would hope they’d inspire some new and fresh ideas for gift giving this summer!
For the Social Butterfly, the Minimergency Kit (pictured above). This kit has 16 pieces that fit into a cute mini purse including nail polish for a chipped nail, stain remover for the clumsy at heart and breath freshener for that last minute date.
For the Commuter, the Safety Girl Car Kit. Make sure your commuting student is prepared for any mishaps on the road with this 16 piece, all inclusive safety kit equipped with tools, booster cables for a sudden dead battery and a help flag.
Lipstick Pepper Spray, from Amazon
For the new City Girl on the go, the Fashionable Lipstick Pepperspray. It may seem cheesy, but a girl new to the city can never be too safe, especially with the late night scene tempting to freshmen on their own. Disguised very well, you’ll know you have some protection in case you sense danger around.
For the Traveling Chica, an Airlines Gift Card will come in handy. The more popular airlines, such as American Airlines or Southwest carry them and allow you to even personalize the messages on the cards! Add between $50 to $1500 for your traveling college girl.
Girls’ Night In Collection (Just Like Heaven / Win a Date with Tad Hamilton! / How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days / What Women Want / Forces of Nature), $45.98 from Amazon
For the Small Town Gal, I love the Girl’s Night In Movie Collection. It has 5 cute chick-flicks for your slumber party nights with your new friends at college. This is not to say she won’t have the option of hanging out, but in case she’d rather stay in with the girls, at least she’ll have a fun lineup of movies to tune into!

I’m irritated with the pink car kit. Just because I’m a girl doesn’t mean I need an emergency kit for my car that is predominantly pink. Normal road kits are fine.
And any girl will need mace wherever she goes. Especially if you’re walking across campus at night a lot.

I love this list!
Unfortunately in Australia, when we go to University, we do not accommodate on Campus.

Mase is such a good idea. I carried it constantly. I also like the car kit. I frikkin need one so bad. My spiritual mother just let me borrow an air compressor thingy with a light on it for when my husband and travel for grad school later this week.
Something that’s also good is filling up those meal plan dollars.

K, I understand that there are girls who want pink tools and crap but can’t there be other options? Since it’s colored, can I choose from purple, blue, green, etc as well? Or how about basic black? Often these things are smaller for girls with small hands but even some of them would like these options.
The kit ideas are good though. I don’t know how many times I’ve given people band-aids because the RA and ARA were at class and they got a cut and I was the only one with a first aid kit. Though I’m fine with the normal first aid kit. The purse one would just be more crap for me to figure out how to lug around but would be perfect for many of the “use a tote bag as a day purse” girls that I know. And the disguise for the pepper spray is a good idea since there are girls who will only carry things around if they look cute. Just hope they don’t mix it up with their actual lipstick when they need the pepper spray.
