I miss those days when I actually woke up early purposefully to watch Saturday morning cartoons, and came home from school and watched quality cartoons that were on network TV rather than just Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, or the Disney Channel.

This was the time before Disney stars, and computer animation. When all you needed was Sesame Street to learn about life and numbers. It’s sad that most of the cartoons I cherish the most aren’t even syndicated, because I know that any kid who would watch any of the cartoons that I’m going to list would completely forget about Wonder Pets and only want to watch my shows.

Chip n’ Dale: Rescue Rangers: This show had it all. Mystery, adventure, travel, cute characters, funny evil-doers, and a girl who kicked ass.

Bobby’s World: The show that launched Howie Mandel’s career dontchaknow. Bobby had an amazing imagination, and I watched this show religiously.

Animaniacs
: Wacko, Yacko, and Dot, quite possibly the coolest sibling trio on television ever. But it wasn’t just these guys. We had: Pinky & the Brain, Buttons & Mindy, and Slappy Squirel. The segmented show was hilarious, and was gone too soon. Warner Brothers really knew their cartoons.

Tiny Toon Adventures: Another great Warner Brothers show that featured younger looking versions of Looney Tunes characters. Buster and Babs Bunny headed the crew at Acme Looniversity, along with Elmyra Duff, Plucky Duck and Dizzy Devil.

Recess: I was a little bit older when Recess came around, but not too old to watch it. This group of kids, lead by T.J, lived in this great fantasy world where Recess was the real world, complete with a King and that group of ditzy girls called the Amber’s

Did you watch any of these cartoons growing up? What were your faves?
