High heels may give me a lot of pain, but they’re so cute.
There has to be a comfortable way to wear high heels. I’ve heard that there are classes to take so you know how you should wear heels correctly but I’m not going to pay for that. I also know that just having confidence can help a lot, but does anyone have any practical ways to make my heels hurt less?

Apply deep heat before yougo out, it makes your feet numb so you won’t feel anything

Whenever I get a new pair of heels, I try to break them in before I go out by walking around the house or even wearing them with socks (not in public, of course) so that they don’t blister my feet.

Easiest way to make your feet not hurt? Don’t wear heels. There are tricks you can do to make them hurt less but your feet weren’t meant to be angled the way heels make them for long periods of time. If you insist on wearing them, know you’re sacrificing being comfortable for cuteness/fashion.

choose those with platform.

Walk around in them in your living space to practice before going out. Carpeted floors provide lower impact so it won’t hurt as much to practice. You can get out a mirror and see how you’re walking, and try to adjust how you walk so it looks more natural.
I find that a lot of the time my feet slide around in heels a lot, so you can buy inserts for the ball of the foot to stop from slipping as much. You can also practice clenching your toes to the sole of the shoe to stabilize.
I’ve also found that doing calf raises also gets you used to the balancing aspect of walking in heels, by training your muscle groups to stand free form (without the support of the shoe).

big socks are a must, as @ashleya already mentioned, but I take that one step [bad pun!] further; vaccuuming in heels: you get to test them out whilst exerting a lot of pressure on them, flexing the soles, etc. not to mention working on the muscles you’ll use wearing them

Practice and exercise. Since I’ve been toning my legs it’s much easier to walk in heels for me especially since my ankles are stronger now.

The way to keep heels from hurting your feet is to not wear them, silly. Get some real shoes.

Get comfy ones!! I absolutely love wearing heels but I refuse to buy a pair I can’t walk in. Platforms are usually easier, as well as booties because those give you more ankle support. It’s totally possible to find cute heels that are also easy/comfy to walk in

Wear hiking boots.
Seriously, I don’t know. I assume that the quality of the shoe has something to do with it. You could choose wedges if you need the height and can’t go to flats or low heels.

Those Dr. Scholl (sp) gel pads ?
I usually put a bandaid around my ankle to prevent it from scraping / blistering

Aldo sells a huge variety of gel and foam inserts specifically for heels. They come in different shapes/sizes to target the painful areas, like pinching around the toes and those blisters you get around the heels. You basically peel them off, and stick them on the inside of your show wherever it hurts.Won’t solve the problem of pain, but the cushioning DEFINITELY helps relieve some pain.
Trust me, they work miracles.

Remember to walk with you spine straight, head up, and when you place your foot down to walk, place the heel down then the toe. A common mistake is that women think they can drag around in heels like they can in sneakers or flip flops. But you can’t, you have to walk elegantly to wear heels without *much* pain. But all heels hurt eventually.

Wear wedges.

aw man that task just seems impossible. haha, but i guess realistically speaking the best way seems to be breaking them in, practicing, maybe buying some cushioning to lessen to pain and hope for the best on the big day. honestly wearing heels and the pain afterwards is definitely one of the few types of pain that’s just a pain in the ass later lol

They have these amazing gel inserts for heels…They’re a bit expensive, but they’re totally worth it, especially if you’re wearing them all day long.

It’s possible that you may be wearing the wrong size. What part of the shoe hurts you? If your toes are being pinched, like mine used to be, you might want to have your width sized by someone who knows what they are doing. (In other words, don’t go to Target, go to Macy’s.) Perhaps choosing a Medium or Wide width for your shoes will make all the difference. Like others have said, wearing them around the house a few times before wearing them for an 8 hour work day will help as well. Another piece of advice would be to buy good quality shoes. I have found many wonderful brands at TJ Maxx and consignment stores for a fraction of the cost of regular retail. Having a better quality shoe means that they are better made, likely more padded, and also more comfortable from the get-go. I cannot even tell you how much longer I can wear a better made shoe than a cheap one. I used to work retail so I was on my feet 8019 hours a day. If I wore cheap shoes, I ended up having to switch to tennies half way through my shift, but when I wore nice shoes I could wear them all day long. Even when I was preggo! They will also likely have a much longer life than a cheap shoe. I hope this helps, good luck!

A couple of tips I’ve heard:
1) Find your balance. Put the heels on, close your eyes, and put a hand on your center (abs). You’ll feel exactly where your weight is settling in the shoes, making them easier to wear.
2) Practice. Walk around in the shoes at home, or while you’re running errands or something.
3) Use those stick-in pads for shoes. They really do work.
4) Tape your third and fourth toes together. I hear this works for making pointed toe heels especially more comfortable, but haven’t tried it.
5) Posture! The straighter you stand, the easier it is to keep your balance in heels.
6) Walk heel-toe, heel-toe. Also makes it easier to walk.
Other general rules: avoid really high heels. You typically want to aim for something two inches or shorter, but it really depends on your comfort level. I’m good for up to 4 inches, some girls can do 5, some can only handle 2 or 3 inches. A 125 lbs. woman wearing a 4 inch heels is putting 400+ lbs. of pressure on the balls of her feet with every step, so keep that in mind too. I would also suggest a platform heel. Platforms reduce the height of the heel, making them more comfortable. Ankle straps help too, so you’re not clenching your foot to keep the shoe on.
Hope all of this helps!

The Dr.Scholls pads! I use them because I LOVE HEELS and I wear them to school which is walking across camping for 8 hours a day (:
&& I can do it, they will always hurt a little, but not too bad
