All right, so maybe it just made me tear up, but with the movie series coming to an end I have nothing left to live for a feeling that my childhood is ending. It’s probably not helpful that this isn’t the only sentimental Harry Potter GIF out there right now.
THEY USED TO BE SUCH BABIES. NOW THEY’RE ALL GROWN UP AND SO AM I. I think this is what a quarter life crisis feels like…
And in case you are as sad as I am right now, here’s a GIF that’s sure to brighten your mood:
Are you Lovelies as torn up about the end of the Harry Potter movie series as I am? Do you already have your midnight tickets bought or do the words “avada kedavra” mean nothing to you?

Awww! I love them all

I think people think I’m crazy because I’ve been crying about the end since Part 1 came out. It’s like my entire childhood is done with. It was the only “world” I could escape into to forget what was going on in my real life. I immersed myself in those books and wished like I’ve never wished before that that world was real.

I have no emotional investment in that story.

Haha, I like how all Dumbledore has to say about it is ‘Good.’

ok, in the first gif… who is the guy right under Hagrid?? is that Fiennes?

I started reading the series in 5th grade and the last book came out right after I graduated high school. I definitely felt like Harry Potter was my childhood especially considering that I was really obsessed with the books. I went to a special showing and got to see the first movie a week before it came out. I’ve been to every midnight release anytime there was one for the books and I’ve gone to all the midnight showings for all the movies (I don’t like the movies but I watch them out of loyalty to the books). While I don’t have the same hole in my heart that I got when the book series ended I am a bit sad to see the movie series go.

I’m going to be happy when the last one is finally released. No more Harry Potter movies makes me happy. The books were okay when I was a kid, but I’ve never had any sort of emotional investment in the movies. I even have TumblrSavior blocking all HP posts on my Tumblr dash. >.>

Pretty sure I’m a serious HP fan since I got an HP tattoo.
I’m gonna cry so fucking hard when Snape dies in the last movie.
…Wait. You can get midnight tickets now?! HOLY FUCK, I BETTER GET ON THAT.
guest
I turn 20 just three days after the movie comes out and I really don’t give a care about it, seeing Harry Potter is way more exciting. The ending of HP means no more waiting for my birthday to read them. (the books and movies always seem to come out just days before my birthday) My brothers always knew what to get me either the book or movie ticket. So, I will be tearing up ’cause it’s like the end of a little tradition for my family.

The girl who plays Ginny is absolutely GORGEOUS!!!! She deserves more attention hahah
I am so sad about the ending :/ I am a little irritated though, they left so much out of the other movies from the book that ended up being incredibly important so I just don’t know how they are going to make it clear. Like in the book there was this huge reliazation about Snape based on clues throughout, in the movies they left that out and it will come out of NOWHERE.

@sassypenguin@xanga - OH my god. Clearly, you and I are the same person. I thought I was the only person who preferred Hogwarts to the real world.

this is me losing a part of my life. back in 7th grade our teacher made us read the first book (it had just come out) as a class. i was hooked ever since. hermione says it the best….magical.

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of part one – all the others sucked. Here’s to hoping for part two!

The one with the pictures of them when they were younger <3 Awww. I have no emotional attachment. But it was nice watching all the movies. SOO much better than the Lord of the Rings movies, IMO. I fell asleep 10 minutes in.

Aww, I’m tearing up now.
At the beginning of Deathly Hallows, Part 1 I began crying because it was the beginning of the end. I will pretty much bawl at part 2. I’ve never been sadder to see something end.

@too_pretty_to_die@xanga - it’s Lucius Malfoy! (took me a while to figure it out)

Oh, gosh, that last one…
I like the movies all right, and I’m looking forward to the last installment (wanted to see it opening weekend, because I love experiencing a big new movie with a whole bunch of strangers. It’s two hours of bonding with people you’ll probably never see again. Sounds fun. XP ) but it’s the books that really stick with me. I just finished reading the entire series for the second time, and I’m feeling a little sad that that’s over (for the second time…
I’ll give it a few months, then just start reading them all over again)
There’s just something about those books that the movies never can touch for me. Maybe it’s that Daniel Radcliffe (as wonderful as he is) isn’t the Harry I saw in my head, or maybe it’s that two hours isn’t enough time to cram all the amazing things in a single book from JK Rowling’s impressive imagination, or that the movies couldn’t quite make all the characters as relatable and “real” as the books did. Whatever it is, I dig the movies, but they don’t compare to the books for me. Not by far.
The actor who played Hagrid, however, came pretty darn close to my mental image of Hagrid. I love both versions!

@ohveryoung@xanga - I don’t think we are alone. I have a friend that is even more obsessed than me. I actually probably look like a pseudo fan. I only own one HP shirt. I’ve always wanted the school robes to wear to premieres, but I just never got around to it. Plus, I’ve only been to one or two movie premieres and took my time getting the other books. Regardless of my shitty fan-work, I love the series so much. I always wanted to be harry – or date him. Since I started reading the books I always hoped magic was real and that I would some day acquire those powers. I know that these things aren’t real, but I hope and hope and hope that they are.
daisy / 617 posts
@sassypenguin@xanga - I did the same exact thing! Oh my goodness, it’s nice to know that I’m not psychotic. I used to pretend that I was either dating Fred or George, gosh, I love those twins. Or Sirius Black. For some reason, I always had a thing for him. And I know it’s weird, but I totally have a thing for Malfoy. I know that magic doesn’t exist as well, but that didn’t stop me from pretending that I was magical. Haha, I loved it!
guest
@ohveryoung@xanga - Malfoy was just a horrible person. I could never have had a thing for him. hahaha. I always felt like Sirius could be my older brother – or uncle or something, that were my feelings towards him. I cried like a little bitch when he died. Same with Dumbledore, and Hedwig….
daisy / 617 posts
@sassypenguin@xanga - Right? I just feel like these characters were such a huge part of my life, lol.
guest
@ohveryoung@xanga - Yup, I agree. I’ll never be ready to accept that its over.

I don’t want it to end because suddenly I’m not eleven years old dreaming of being swept away to an American version of Hogwarts! Suddenly my best friend and I aren’t riding around on broom sticks in my backyard throwing a golf ball and a volleyball at each other in attempts to play Quidditch. Suddenly, I’m 21 years old, and it’s all over. Sad!
guest
I thought you meant it made you cry as in it was so funny. Really disappointed :-/
guest
OMG.. that last one cracked me up!…
guest
@TakingxOverxMe@xanga - I FEEL THE SAME WAY. SNAPE T.T *runs to order midnight tickets*
And while I’m not as devastated about the movie series coming to an end as I was when the final book came out (I cried for over 3 hours when I finished it), it will still be sad to see it end. At least I have my HP fanfiction to fall back on!!
guest
i don’t think we can buy tickets yet, otherwise i would have them. i’m so excited for the movie! but i don’t want it to end D= *cries*

Being 21, I think for people my age it’s the hardest (18-23ish) because I literally grew up with the characters and with the actors in these movies. The books became more mature as I became more mature. I, along with my peers, are the only ones that will ever have that unique experience with Harry Potter, and I hope my future kids have their own.
guest
Don’t like HP at all. I think I sat through about half an hour of the first one, and then walked away. *shrug*

I first heard about Harry Potter when I was in 6th grade. My mom bought me Prisoner of Azkaban–so, I wasn’t reading the series in order. In fact, it was the only book I ever got of the series, but I was very moved by its characters and the stunning way they were portrayed.
I lucked out and married a man who had the entire collection. <_< I would read the book before watching the movie, and I’m in love with both versions. Not everyone can say that due to the changes that happen when turning a book into a film. The books definitely hold a higher shelf in my heart. None-the-less, my heart was stolen by this world of magic and adventure.
I’m now 24 years old–where has the time gone? It’s like a chapter is closing on my life and in a way, it’s quite sad, but it’s been a great ride.
guest
I feel a little sad that its finally over. This was the first book series I ever read when I was 11 and now Im 23 and feel old.
guest
I’m pretty sure you can’t get the tickets yet.
And yeah, I’m going to be sad when the final movie ends. But I still have the books, and I can drift into that world whenever I want to just by turning a page.
This isn’t the end. The magic will always be there.

I am going to bawl so hard. I cried and cried and cried when the last book was over – because the books have always been more important to me then the movies – but I’ll still be sad to see the movie series end, too. I started reading Harry Potter before it was even popular, and it’s definitely a huge part of my childhood. I was always the same age as Harry, from when the second book came out and on

Loving the entire series was almost accidental for me. I picked up the first book out of sheer boredom back in the third or fourth grade, and I was hooked ever since.
Watching the movies was pretty much a family thing — I’ve seen every movie in the theaters with at least part of my family/relatives.
