Honestly, I have issues with Urban Outfitters too. And I didn’t even know about these allegations, nor their contribution to “scarily conservative” anti-gay causes. Sigh. Good for Miley for voicing an opinion.

I am not a fan of Miley Cyrus, but mad respect for standing up about this. Urban Outfitters pisses me off.

Hmm…I’ve never shopped at Urban Outfitters before, because in my opinion, it’s usually overpriced crap. If this is true though, I’ll definitely stay away!

I do like some stuff from UO but their company really is shit.

I can happily say this for once: YAY MILEY!!!

I dont shop at this store & I never will now. Just like Ambercrombie & Fitch is racist, Urban Outfitters are haters too. Both stores are overpriced any way. You can get that stuff cheaper at other mall stores & like at Old Navy.

Honestly I can’t say whether this company is racist or if their allegations are true but her ranting like this, does no good as it only confuses and blurs the line and makes it really hard to be subjective about the situation. And if the allegations prove to be false, she’ll feel stupid for running her mouth. I think it’s best to wait and see before popping up on anyone. I think this is why people get in trouble over twitter so much. They run their mouth and type when they are angry and saying things out of anger which always leads to trouble no matter how right it is. 

So, I’m not going to rally to any side. I’m not going to condone her actions either. 

I don’t care for their clothes/shoes/accessories much but I like their novelty items/toys section, because that’s where I usually buy my xmas gifts since it is like the spencer’s gag gift store with weird stuff.

I don’t shop at the store.  I never have.  Part of me wants to say that if I had to agree with everything a CEO of a company had to say, I’d never shop anywhere, but the other part of me says that somethings you have to stand up for.  If this is true, I’d never shop at UO.  I think it is awesome that Miley is standing up for what she believes in.

I like some stuff from UO, I never really buy anything that’s not on sale. Costs waaaay too much. I love their novelty stuff/toys though. I never knew about their allegations though… or A&F being racist. So kudos to Miley 

I always hear ridiculous things about Urban Outfitters but kind of took it with a grain of salt, but for some reason after seeing this it really pisses me off. So no, I don’t really like Miley and under different conditions, I would think she was just making accusations and trying to cause problems. But since I’ve heard so much about them, it’s like this is the last straw, so I definitely give her props for making me (and I’m sure other people) realize this store is absolutely ridiculous. Given the support that gay have this day, I’m surprised they’re still in f*cking business.

hmm, i guess i’m going to get flak for this but i love urban outfitters and would not stop shopping there just because of the ceo’s words. i didn’t move out when bush was in office, i’m not going to stop frequenting my favorite store because i disagree with the ceo.

we’re not going to agree with everyone in life. boycotting the business is not going to change his mind. it’s not like he bans gays from working at uo – far from it, i know several lgbt people who work at my local uo. sure he might be have misguided ideas, but i’m not going to start shopping at costco or anything because of it.

@Shinbi_Belldandy@xanga - I’m not entirely sure what you’re basing your opinion on, but A&F isn’t exactly racist. I work for them and the company at least makes an attempt to promote diversity within individual stores and get people from different ethnicities to work for them. I am aware of hiring scandals and issues that have been raised in the past, but the hiring process is solely the store manager’s responsibility, so any issues that have occurred surrounding associates being hired is more so a reflection of that specific store manager’s ideals.

Their marketing does show people of different ethnicities, just obviously not as much as they show white people; however, I feel like advertising across the board is like this and not just isolated to this one brand.

They sold some shirts that depicted Asians (specifically chinese people) in a bad light. “. It made the news & they had to pull the shirts of the market.
