I did this to my nails, guys! How did I do it?
Ok, it wasn’t that hard. I bought Sally Hansen Salon Effects nail polish strips at Duane Reade. It’s $10, at least here in New York, but whatevs, I wanted to try it. If you have trouble painting your nails like I do (my left hand? Shaky as hell!), these strips are great: they’re basically sheets of dry polish that you adhere to your nails and then trim off the excess.
Apparently these things are super hot right now, because I had to go to, like, six Duane Reades before I found any left in a pattern that wasn’t fug. So, houndstooth!
So, if you zoom in like this and take a photo, it does kind of look like I slapped stickers on my nails. But honestly, IRL, it looks pretty cool, like I’m the world’s greatest nail artist and I just drew this pattern on my nails freehand.
One complaint, though: unlike the Incoco polish strips I tried before, which lasted for a solid MONTH, the Sally Hansen ones have already started chipping, even though they claim to last for two weeks.
There are a whole bunch of patterns, though! I want to try leopard print next, obvi:
Would you try the Sally Hansen strips?

That is awesome. Sounds like it’d be good for me, since I want pretty nails but don’t like actually polishing them.

They might last longer if you put a uv gel coat over them and dried in a uv light. It’s not hard to do at home.

Alabama is going to be all over this.

It is IMPOSSIBLE finding any nice patterns here in NYC. Why can’t Duane Reade keep up the stock?

i wonder if it would last longer if you put on a top coat over it to seal off the edges?

Hahaha, they’re nice. The Incoco ones sound pretty good, though.

leopard print isnt very hard to do freehand, you should look up a tutorial online. i also saw an article where someone put those sally hansen strips on 4 fingers of each hand, and painted another with sparkles that matched the print and it looked cute.

I want the leopard ones – brilliant!

HELL YES. I want these in cheetah, zebra, lace, and glitter. But I have to wait for my airbrush gels to chip to hell and get a soak-off first. Then re-grow my natrual nails. On the bright side, the soak-off and Sally Hansen strips will cut my cost in half compared to a full set

Haha, my roommate tried this, and she loves it!

I put them on my toes and they lasted a good three weeks. I did the cheeta. amazing.

I’m interested in them… but I work at a grocery store where I use my hands all the time, so it might not be worth it… and I dance, and they don’t like bright, obnoxious colors.
