I just read on Fashion Indie about a new type of handset that you can plug into your iPhone/Blackberry/Computer/iPad/really anything that you can put a standard headphone jack in…and it is seriously amazing. It’s called the Moshi Moshi Pop Phone by Native Union.
Yes the Pop Phone is a way to transform your technological device into something a little more retro! In addition to looking totally awesome, this device is also useful (and healthier!) because it apparently blocks 99% of your cell phone’s radiation!
They come in a series of bright colors and are made by french designer David Turpin to feel very soft.
They’re $30.00, plus tax, but if you go to the store on 85 Stanton St. and mention Fashion Indie you can get 10% off. I’m heading there after I finish this post. No. joke.
What do you Lovelies think? Would you use the Pop Phone?

I think it’s cool that it blocks 99% of radiation. But …it’s huge. It totally defeats the purpose of a cell phone. Might as well carry the gigantic phones you have at home and walk around with it. I wear small purses…where do you even put that thing? lol, I’ll pass.

They have things like this at Urban Outfitters. It’s too kitch or hipster for my tastes personally.

Haha, I’ve wanted one of these for a while. I love holding the big phone up when I’m at home. Not on the go obviously but yeah.

it would defeat the purpose of wireless convenience
it matches her outfit
people talking on their bluetooth headsets look weird as if they’re talking to themselves, so there is no confusion about talking to a ghost or talking to a person by holding this pop phone

Cute but horribly inconvenient.

@MoonFaeEyryan@xanga - agreed. Where would you store that? Your purse?
guest
I think they’re so cute! I would totally use it.

want.
i wear a pretty large tote with extra room (has: keys, two chapsticks, comb, mascara, eyeliner, hand cream, phone, book, eyedrops, contact case, advil, feminine hygiene products is all) and i needed to fill it anyway…

that’s really neat! thanks for sharing!

editors note: i bought it, i love it. I’ve always carried a huge purse so it’s not inconvenient at all. in fact, when my phone rings, i just search for the big pink handle instead of my little black iphone and press the button in the center and voila, call answered. press the button again and it hangs up. LOVE IT

@MoonFaeEyryan@xanga - So true
OP:
It really defeats the purpose of a cellphone honestly.

didn’t we invent cell phones to get away from that kind of phone?
guest
Yeah, it’s pretty cool but not really something you’d want to carry around with you all day hahahaha. What if it gets all tangled in all the stuff in your purse (like keys o_O)? But I still want one hahahahhaa
guest
I like it. Whenever I talk to my dad on the phone, it’s always on my blackberry and when I’m at home, so I’d much rather have one of these to use instead of having to hold my little phone up to my ear.
guest
Awe, I would use it in my room
Definitely not take it everywhere, but it’d be pretty cool to have in the house, like on your bedside/sofa end table !

@design3rskyline@xanga - yeah! it’s fun to skype with!

haha!! i actually have one! how funny that you posted this. I have a red one and i love it, definitely a conversation starter! its proven handy when i’m on long phone calls— so much easier to talk with that ! Especially when youre trying to talk to someone with your phone plugged in, your face doesnt get all hot from the charging phone!!

@aislynninwonderland - hundred percent agreed!! its so easy to find in my bag!!!
guest
i want one but idk if i would carry it around with me everywhere since i seem to always run out of space in my bags.
guest
This is real dumb.
guest
That’s actually really cool but you can only imagine how much batteries is going to be sucked from your phone.

Ah, this site never ceases to amuse me.

I agree with everyone that said the point of cell phones is to be small and convenient and this pretty much ruins that. Most of the time I carry a little wristlet that fits my bank cards, keys, a little bit of cash & my iphone.. where the hell would I put this gigantic phone receiver?
guest
oh my gosh, can you say hipster overload?
guest
Isn’t this sort of taking a step backwards?

I see the 80s are back. *Pulls out “retro” cell phone*
guest
cute idea but I’d be embarrassed to carry that around
guest
The fact that is blocks radiation is pretty cool! I like this.
guest
lmao
Almost want one, just for kicks. But I’d prefer a wireless one shaped like an ’80s mobile phone.
guest
HEY IT’S THE IRONIC TELEPHONE!!!
Hipster Nation.
guest
Totally!!! Not really transportable but great when you wanna kick back for a long conversation!

Too heavy, Too Bulky, Can’t Use While Driving.
Pointless.
