Pretty female writers: Anne Sexton (she modeled for a bit), Simone de Beauvoir, Margaret Atwood, Sylvia Plath, Anais Nin. There are many more, I’m sure, but those are the first few that come to mind.

I agree that the female writers of that era weren’t that attractive, but there are some ugly celeb actresses/actors, who are on the big screen, so talent overrides looks sometimes.

I think people dont care at all what an author looks like, as long as he has something to say. In fact, I find it seems youth and good looks usually come with an attitude. When I was young, Ive been told I was very good looking, and I was a total jerk.Now that I dont worry so much about my appearance,,,not that I dont keep clean or anything, I feel so much happier, I dont have to use good looks to get sex,,Im married and my wife loves me no matter what I look like.lol,

Jane Austen was a fantastic writer. Appearance isn’t a factor… Though those pictures are pretty bad.
