God dammit, I hate that my name is still on the top. Thankfully it dropped to six instead of 1. But my mom always bitched that in 1988 she picked Emily because it wasn’t that common and now it’s everywhere. I seriously meet a ton of a Emilys.
I really like Chloe but I’m still naming my first daughter Alice because of my love for Wonderland

Nope. I’m more of an Arabic name guy myself. As is my wife lol
guest
Mia is short and spelt the same in many languages.. love it!
guest
I like Emma and Aiden. My friend just named her son Aiden.
Someday, if I have a girl I’d want to name her Ashlen.
A boy name is tougher… maybe Connor.
guest
Once again my name is not in the top ten. HELL YEAH!
@SexyGamerGirl@xanga - Alice is a beautiful name. I was almost named Alice because of Wonderland but my parents thought Allison sound better with my middle and last name. Although my nickname is Alice.

All of these names are classic & enduring. Nothing wrong with that & I like them but I when I have kids, I’d probably use those as a middle name & give my kids something unique as a first name. UNIQUE not made up or just plain weird. I respect the fact that all parents know their kids are special & one of a kind but making up a 12 letter name really does hurt you in the future. Employers look at it & it just makes them stand out in a not so good way. It was funny going to Catholic school & having attendance taken. There’s like 5 Emilys, Catherines & Britneys but only one of me.
My name isnt common but it’s a legit name. It can be pronounced wrong but often people just ask me how to say it & they end up liking it later. I’m glad mom gave me a name that’s a good conversation starter. LOL

I’m surprised Jayden is on the list.

damn. baby girl’s name would be on the list. LOL. there ya go xangans who know me and have been curious of baby girl’s name. you have a list of 10 girl names that could be my baby girl’s name
guest
I’m so glad I will never see my name on a list like this one.
guest
Glad my name is not on it this year haha
guest
Phineas. I like Phineas. Phineas Gene. or Cameron Phineas. idk though, I have since I first saw the name found out I had been pronouncing it wrong…so …oh fuck it!! I can change the spelling to fit the pronunciation I like. LOL Phinaious. HAHAHA that is a horrible spelling.
Anyway, i KINDA like Issabella just cuz she’s my fav char on Phineas and Ferb( and i wanted to use Phneas before I found this show) Also, Madison is okay, but I would’t use that name.
Didn’t much care for the boy names. Though my brother’s name is Daniel, and my nephew is Jacob, BUT NOTHING to do WITH twilight.

@beebizzle@xanga - was/is it ava or madison? (i don’t know why i’m asking, i doubted you’d answer but i’m wicked curious and those 2 stood out haha)
orchid / 130 posts
I really liked Madison until everyone I knew who gave birth to a daughter in the last 2 years started naming their daughters that. Same with Jayden. My poor nephew now shares a very common name with 10 other kids in his 1st grade class.

@dude_this_world_sux@xanga - LOL. you’re right, i won’t tell you. but you only have 5 more weeks to wait and find out!!!

<3 Aiden.

I’m really partial to Gretchen and Arabelle… but if I have a child with my boyfriend of 8 years I’ll stick with Latin names, AnaLucia or Santiago.
guest
My name would never be on these lists haha. It’s full on Ukrainian and I’ve never met anyone else with the same name.
guest
@beebizzle@xanga - Ooh! You tease, now I’m super excited for your baby to come so I know which of those names it is!
guest
I don’t care for Madison at all. Maybe it’s because everyone I know who’s had a baby girl the past few years has gone with Madison (or Savannah, in one case. Poor kid.) Aiden was the name of Naomi Watt’s slightly creepy kid in The Ring movies, so I’m never going to really like that name.
I was this close to being a Celia, and I would’ve liked that. Rachel is such a boring name that doesn’t even sound pretty in my opinion. My name hasn’t been on a top 10 list since the very early 90′s.
guest
My name is Emily, I love it! I couldn’t care less how popular it is, I would never change it.
magnolia / 1357 posts
From that list, I like Olivia and Aiden.
Silly Mexican traditions.
My name is pretty common here in Mexico, but not very much in the U.S. Most people can’t even pronounce it, at first it was really annoying but now that I’m used to it, I just find it funny.
For my children though, I like the names Lucrecia, Antonieta, and Emilio. Unfortunately, if I only have one son, his name will be my boyfriend’s name, because he’s the third one in his family and it has to keep going
lily / 5148 posts
Wow a lot of those names are cousins and brother’s names: Like Michael, Jacob, Ethan, Alex etc; Pretty cool. Too bad the names I’m giving my future kids won’t be as traditional.
@letmedie_2087@xanga - I was going to mention Phineas and Ferb but you beat me to it
guest
Of course Twilight names are on the top….
daisy / 568 posts
I liked Isabella until Twilight came out. I fell in love with Sophia & Olivia before they were super popular. I’m still naming my kids Sophia & Olivia though. My boys names aren’t on here though =]
guest
@HopeWithinReach@xanga - Gretchen is beautiful! But also depends on the rest of the name…Gretchen Wiener is a good one.
guest
@Hinase@xanga - :)

Ever since I was in middle school (granted this was 4-6 years ago?) I decided on four baby names (wrote them in my journal and everything haha):
Girls:
Sophia
Isabella (Bella)
Boys:
James
Ethan or Nathan
And now they’re on the top popular names D:
-Looking back on this, it’s weird that I was deciding on baby names at what 12-14? Haha

@SexyGamerGirl@xanga - I feel your pain. Ashley was on the list for YEARS! Happy doesn’t even begin to describe how I feel about my name no longer being on the list. I will send hope that your name drops off it soon too ^.^
guest
@snowgoddess1224@xanga -
It’s pretty normal for young girls to do that. The names I like/liked changed only because I’ve been in a relationship with a Salvadorian for 8 years. While I still like the more “white” names, if we have children I have a strong preference for them to carry on with Latin names.
guest
Hey, the first two baby girl names are the names of my two baby cousins who were just born this year!
guest
Luckily Emily’s moved from 1 to 6. I like my name & wouldn’t change it, it’s just the fact that everyone else has it! Personally I love the names Bailey & Lorelai for girls and then Addison & Carson for boys. I know some people consider Addison a girls name, but I just absolutely love it for a boy.
guest
oh man my name has never been in the top ten for america!
magnolia / 1369 posts
Yay! I always loved the name Emma!
guest
I’m nooooot surprised. I work at a private school during summers, and I have seen a quite a few: Isaballas, Olivias, Mias, Emmas and Avas. Boy names typically stay pretty traditional.
guest
AW YEAH. The names of my nonexistent kids aren’t on this list! Except Isabella. But I liked it before Twilight, so I’m a hipster of names… or something.
daisy / 522 posts
Wow! lol my best friend and I were being stupid and we decided to give ourselves new name for the new year lol. She chose Olivia and I chose Chloe lol
guest
i had my daughter last may, and i namned her olivia.!
guest
@SexyGamerGirl@xanga - I know exactly how you feel. My mom used the exact same excuse in 1988 when she named me Sarah Elizabeth. So what did I do? I went to the court house and changed my name to Sarahbeth. I’ve never met anyone with my new name…yet!

@SexyGamerGirl@xanga - Tell me about it! In 1993 my mum said the same thing – it was so unusual- unusual my ass !!

@Aaliyaan@xanga - same same (: (: (: lol

The only female name I like is Sophia, and the only male one I like is Alexander. Olivia is okay, but Olive is prettier. Jacob’s alright. The rest of the names are either too old-fashioned or too “trendy” for my liking. “Trendy” names really annoy me, because most of the people I know who name their kids Madison or Aidan or Mackenzie or last names as first names are trying so hard to be hip and cool and give their kids “unique” names, when they’re not unique at all.
I really, really like the name Seth. It’s a totally underrated name. I also like Ophelia a lot. I think those are seriously badass names.
And the only Ava and Chloe I know are both dogs, so I’ll always associate those names with my friends’ dogs. =P
guest
Ava. If I have a daughter her name will be Ava Christine (Christine after my mom)
But, I’ve loved the name Ava for as long as i can remember.
guest
I would never name my son Aiden because I seriously know AT LEAST 20 people with their son named Aiden.. its WAY too over used, imo.
guest
The only name I would consider would be Olivia, but I think it’s too overdone. Good to know my ideas aren’t on that list. I used to love Aiden, but it’s just too popular now.
guest
Haha, of course Twilight names make the list. I love the names Sophia, Chloe, and Aiden.
guest
I named my son Aiden lol

I hate society. Twilight names. UGH.
oh well, atleast I can stop having Courtneys that have been there for my ENTIRE school career.
In other news, Aiden and Daniel and Sophia and Chloe are cute.
guest
Yayyy, my name isn’t on the list. Everyone still calls me Melissa though
I thought Jayden and Madison were really cool names…in 2008 or so the first few times I heard them, but now EVERYONE is using those names. I want my kids to have unique names that no one else will have…so whenever I decide I’m ready, I’m watching the “trendy names” lists to make sure I don’t pick one of those. No offense to people that like the popular names though, they certainly aren’t bad names.
guest
In all fairness to society, “Isabelle” has been in the top 10 for girls since 2003, in the top 20 since 2002. Same with Jacob, which has actually held the #1 spot for 10 years! So, I don’t think the trends are entirely attributable to Twilight(thank goodness), otherwise we’d see Edward in the top 10 list, too (or heck, Cullen).
That said, the boy names my husband and I have picked out as favorites aren’t on the list, although one of our girl names is. Our fav girl name is of average popularity. I am not into “trendy” names; my husband and I both like the idea of naming our children after family members or people important to us, which usually means traditional names.
Though really, popular names don’t bother me. I have a semi-popular name, and it hasn’t scarred me. I don’t think I’d want my kid to be one of 4 in the same class, but then again…if I like the name, I like the name.
guest
I’m not really a fan of any of these names.
guest
Both my kids: Olivia and Alex.
guest
Both of my nieces’ names are on the list; Abigail and Olivia. I don’t think I’d use any of those names. I love love love the name Charlotte. Mmm.
guest
@beebizzle@xanga - I am so excited to find out your babys name! GAH!
orchid / 116 posts
No Anastasia, and no Vladimir or Dimitri.
Actually, I don’t plan on having kids. But if I adopt, those are my top names.
guest
Boy or girl, my babies name isn’t on this list. No middles or firsts. GO US!!
guest
Anyo9ne who would use “top ten” list to choose a name for his baby hasn’t got anything interesting to say about much of anything,
guest
my name over the recent years has appeared and doesn’t seem to go away…
I don’t know if this is a good or a bad thing
guest
My name is the same as an Old Testament prophet. It is never on any of these lists, although I know two others with the name.
I have a boys name that I hate, and that is Caleb. I don’t like it because it is the hebrew word for Dog. Who would name the kid Dog? Other than Mrs Bounty Hunter of course
I do have a girls name that I like. That is Ananda it is Sanskrit and depending on translation, I have been told it means either “Joy from Heaven” and “The joy without which the universe would cease to exist”
That I think is a great name for a girl
guest
Aiden, Jayden and Caden……so over used!
sunflower / 437 posts
In the UK, all the tikes are called Mackenzie. That’s not a gender-specific name either.
guest
I always liked the name Madison but I would never name my kid any names that are real popular in the year. I hated going to school & sharing my name with 10 other girls in my class, it’s rather boring & annoying.
