I mean, maybe I’d feel the same way if I spent the last ten years of my life playing the lead role in the biggest pop culture phenomenon of my generation. But, what about the fans, Daniel?!? According to Celebuzz, Radcliffe, who has put a memorable face to the name of Harry Potter, urged J.K. Rowling not to write another book for the famous Harry Potter series. I’m STUPEFIED…
When Radcliffe heard of the tentative plans, he took immediate action. “I was worried! I texted her. I said, ‘Look, is this true? Are you writing another book?!’” Not like Radcliffe had much to worry about, as Rowling abated his fears: “She wrote back that she was so pleased with my performance in Harry Potter 7: Part 1 that as a reward, she promised to never write another book about Harry.”
Not going to lie, if Rowling decided she wanted to write a few more installments of the series I definitely wouldn’t cry about it. Actually, I would be the first on line at Barnes and Noble. But, let’s face it. Both Rowling and Radcliffe have dedicated a large portion of their lives to bringing Harry and friends to life. Plus, I’m sure they are up to the brim in dollar bills, right? Jealous sigh.
Would you read or watch another Harry Potter installment, Lovelies?

I’ll be the first to tell you I HATED the last book. I felt like she was rushing to get it over with. I hated the writing, I hated the ending. I was so disappointed!!! So do I think she should write and 8th book anyway? No way. She ruined the last book for me, last thing I want is her adding to a story she seemed in such a rush to finish. So thank you Daniel for asking her not to lol.

An 8th book just wouldn’t feel right to me. :/
Yeah, I’d read it, but it just wouldn’t be the same as the others.
guest
What would she write about? James, Albus and Lily? It wouldn’t be right. Ive read the last book 3 times and although I loved it, and im gonna miss it when it ends in the movies, I think its the best place to finish it.
guest
I want a prequel about Snape. lol. Me and my friend Amy loved him all along, both the book character and the movie character. Alan Rickman = yum. But he’d be too old to play a young adult Snape… seriously, yeah, it’s probably better to just leave that series as it is.
guest
Lol… thats kind of hilarious. But, I can’t say I care either way- cause I haven’t seen or read them.
orchid / 121 posts
I think he has every right to not want another book…. because he doesn’t want another movie.
Yes, he is probably neck high in money from the movies… but he also earned it. He dedicated a HUGE part of his life to these movies and due to this fact he now has his own scar. He will spend the rest of his life trying to get someone to give him work and be able to shed his shadow of “Oh look… isn’t that Harry Potter?” Most casting directors won’t want to give him a chance because of this, and that can’t be easy.
So give him a break…. It’s not like ANY actor can be one person play one character their entire life.

@BloodIsLove@xanga - Now THAT would be a GREAT idea!!

YES YES YES. i never want a good eries of books/programs/movies to end. its so sad
like when vampire diaries ends?

@BloodIsLove@xanga - Agree! <3

I mean, I would, but it’s best to leave the series alone as is.
guest
I think an 8th book would be a bit much. I mean I loved the Harry Potter series and it’s going to suck when I finally see the last movie and it’s all really over but an 8th book would seriously be too much.
guest
WTF is he? Like fucking 20?! Damn.
guest
Thank fkn god.
guest
nawh I agree with him. He probably always wants to be something other then the face of harry. :/
guest
I heard that if she does write another book, it would focus on Dudley’s son and not Harry. Don’t remember where I heard that though.
orchid / 147 posts
The 7th book had such a definitive ending, it really didn’t feel like an 8th book would ever be written. I mean, I’m a huge fan and would love for the series to never end, but it seems like the cast has tried hard to steer themselves away from their Harry Potter personas and make a name for themselves elsewhere, which is fair.
guest
Plus, I’m sure they are up to the brim in dollar bills, right?
More like British Pounds
But I’d be right with Radcliffe on this one. There comes a point where every series needs to end. If it becomes drawn out, it’s likely to kill itself because there’s a limit to what you can do to keep the fandom impressed and satisfied. Harry Potter needs to remain a 7-book series.
And I’m sure Daniel Radcliffe doesn’t want to keep portraying Harry for the rest of his life. If he wants to keep pursuing his career in acting (theatre and film alike), he needs variation or he wont get very far.

Honestly, No.
As a huge fan I really think it’s perfect the way it is.
guest
but…the story is finished. an 8th book would kinda kill it. like TV shows that go on too long.

Jesus, whine much? Look, I ADORE Harry Potter, but where else could she go with the series? It’s done. My ten year old self is probably crying too because she would never want Harry Potter to end, but the story is finished. Admire it for what is is.

Rowling already fucked up when she wrote the terrible Epilogue. Up until I read the Epilogue I was completely happy. Without the Epilogue I think there might have been room for an 8th book but I’m also happy with the seven that we have. If she feels the need to continue the Harry Potter series why not a prequel with some our favorite characters?
guest
NO NO NO.
I mean, I would read it because, come on, it’s JK Rowling and anything she writes turns to gold, and of course I couldn’t NOT read it.
But I would be so disappointed. Jo Rowling promised she wouldn’t write another one. She promised. And her ending in the seventh book was fantastic and perfect. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I’m so glad she’s not writing an eighth one
guest
No. Wasn’t amazed by the last book tbh.
guest
It ended in #7. It was always meant to end in 7. Seven years of Hogwarts. Why would there ever be an eighth book? Even a prequel? Or following the lives of everyone when they’re grown up? That would ruin the series.
guest
I’m a huge fan, just HUGE, as in as big as you can be without needing help, and I don’t want another book. She ended the series, that’s that. It’d be like how Pirates of the Caribbean ended after the third movie… then they made a fourth. Of course, if it happened, I’d totally camp out to buy it, but I think the series is lovely as it is.
If anything, I’d maybe enjoy a prequel or something. Like more on Dumbledore, something on Lily and James’ time at school. Maybe. But I think Harry’s story is good as it is.
orchid / 180 posts
Of course I would read it, but I would be disappointed. She did so well–she stuck to her storyline for so long, and it was always supposed to be seven books–that an eighth book would just feel cheap. If she wants to keep writing stories about the world, or short stories for charities, that’s cool. I’ll eat them up without guilt. But continuing the series? It isn’t NEEDED. I understand the appeal, though.
guest
If it began with “So, about what you just read…just kidding!” then maybe. I loved Deathly Hallows, but the ending killed it. I always felt that Harry should’ve died along with Voldemort, and I have hated the Harry/Ginny matchup since I read about Harry’s stomach monster in Half-Blood Prince. It didn’t end well for me. Honestly, as much as I love them, I think one member of the trio should’ve died considering all the near-death experiences they were put through. I found it unlikely that the three of them survived while other, more knowledgeable Order members were killed. Plus, the death scene with Dumbledore was just a bit weird.

The epilogue of the last book (as well as a few other chapters towards the end) read like bad fanfiction. Let sleeping dogs lie.
guest
I think that they ended the series perfectly…that being said, I would love to read more books about the Harry Potter Universe.
orchid / 217 posts
@ShirleyD@xanga - I didn’t hate it, really, but I felt pretty strongly that she just rushed through writing it and killed off characters left and right. frustrating.
@BloodIsLove@xanga - yes please! mmmmm Snape!
@SexyGamerGirl@xanga - Epilogue? I totally ignored that part of the book, never happened, imo!

i dont really have anything against harry potter… but my thoughts?
quit while you’re ahead!!
fans already have 7 books and 8 movies to go read/watch over and over again… lets end it now before everyone gets overly burned out.
magnolia / 1357 posts
@BloodIsLove@xanga - I like this idea, too! Snape is not my favorite character, but he is the most interesting one.
guest
I’m with him on that.
guest
Never read the book and only finished half of the first Harry Potter movie.
guest
I’m a big fan of the Harry Potter series and all but sometimes… I really feel that authors just write more books to milk the series and to me, that just cheapens the entire story.
guest
I stopped liking the books as much after the fourth one. One through four were amazing though, imo.
guest
if i were him, i wouldn’t want another book either. the seventh one ended where it should. no need for an eighth whatsoever.
guest
I love Harry Potter.
But, I think that an eighth book might just ruin the series.. like when a really good movie comes out and they make a sequel and the sequel just sucks major balls and ruins the first movie.. =\ I think it’d be like that.
daisy / 507 posts
no no. I don’t like Harry Potter >.<
guest
It won’t happen anyways. Harry Potter lived out his life in all 7 books. The problem in making an 8th book would be the fact that all 7 books were about harry and Voldamort. They were pretty much never stand alone. If they were to start up more books of Harry Potter. The story would have to at least be a trillogy. One book story about Harry Potter after the 7th one would be kinda pointless to read. People would see it as if they were just gonna read a story about harry potters new life and some little trouble he might get into
guest
Doctor Who has all the real “magic” =P
guest
I don’t think she’d write an eighth book regardless of whether Daniel wanted it or not. She’d have to write about the next generation – and it wouldn’t work. The Harry Potter series ended with the Battle of Hogwarts and what happened in the seventh book. The fact that the ending of Deathly Hallows showed their kids going to Hogwarts was a true sign (to me) that the phenomenon was over.
She could always write a prequel, but I just don’t think it would work. Whatever she writes now is going to be compared to Harry Potter, and it’s just not going to work. She should be happy with the fortune she’s made from Harry Potter and be pleased that she’s influenced and inspired at least two generations of kids worldwide to read and to fall in love with books again.
guest
Radcliffe had it right; If I were him, I’d be pissed at JK for even thinking that this was a ‘reward’ to him of any kind. Rowling was/is a media whore– she minted her own money with poorly written books with flat and predictable characters, and I for one could not suffer yet another Harry Potter if I was tied to a burning stake.
You want more HP– write your own Fan fiction… I beg of you, don’t encourage her to write any more.
guest
i WANT more harry potter!
fuck, if he won’t do it, i’ll dye my hair dark brown and strap on les potter specs and play the role myself!what an ass…
guest
I loved all the books.. & that’s why i think the 7th should stay the end. =]
guest
Never read any of the books. Well, actually, I attempted the first one, got bored, put it down and never picked it up again.
guest
I love the series and while I’d definitely buy an 8th installment if it existed I agree that it was ended perfectly. I may have a few qualms about some couplings at the end but overall the series was the best I’ve ever read and doubt I’ll find one better. However I’m not opposed to her doing a series dedicated to the adventures of a young James, Sirius, Lupin, and I guess Wormtail since he was sorta in their group too.
guest
the story is over. and the worst thing in the world is for a creator to drag out a story just to make more money. that’s how things get ruined.
guest
after the epilogue it’d be too much
but i’d love a prequel about lily/james/severus/remus/sirius/peter/etc.
lily / 5148 posts
@SexyGamerGirl@xanga - I agree. I didn’t like the 7th book so much..but after the epilogue..I felt the same as you. Feels too fanfictiony like.
guest
I’d read them. I haven’t watched all of them so I don’t know if I’d watch it.
guest
@LKJSlain@xanga - Then why did you comment?
guest
I have read NONE of them. I have watched dall the released movies.
And yes, I understand his panic at the idea of playing this character for the rest of his (youthful) life! And he’s trying to move on, and not be ‘type-cast’ for that genre.
guest
Can someone explain the appeal? I had to read of those books for a college class and didn’t find it impressive.
hydrangea / 57 posts
@MyFaire@xanga - way agree haha
guest
I’d have to agree. Poor guy needs a break. 10 years straight. C’mon. That must be extremely stressful & tiring. Hopefully, she’ll write more about Harry & Ron’s kids. That would be cute.
guest
@LKJSlain@xanga - You’re kidding, right? How can you not read Harry Potter. Easily the most creative book for youngsters. Definitely pushed me in the direction where I’m going. (Not saying that it’s the best book/series in the world, but still.)
guest
I wouldn’t mind if she followed the lead of Tolkein and continued to create her world without necessarily continuing the series chronologically. Not that Rowling is on the same page as Tolkein (neither better nor worse, really, just different) but it would be interesting for prequels to be written, or as someone mentioned, pursuing Dudley. I’m sure plenty of people would feel like it was killing a dead horse if she kept going, but at the same time, so many would love it.
So basically, there are so many angles that could be pursued if she wanted to continue creating the mythology of her world, that I would definitely be in favor if it.
guest
lol, she has said for YEARS that there would ONLY ONLY ever be 7. the seventh was the perfect ending and the only other Harry related thing she had considered was an encyclopedia. You have very wrong information here.
guest
More Harry Potter please! <3
guest
i hate stupid harry potter. i agree. as if they’re not dragging it to it’s death enough by making the SEVENTH movie into two parts. like. what the hell else could happen? harry v. evil. OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER.
guest
I’d definitely read it haha. But the series is fine where it is. I don’t know what she’d write about in an 8th installment! It just wouldn’t be like the others.
guest
As sad as I was to finish the last Harry Potter book, I think it needed to end. With the way the story was going, I was not sure whether it could be continued. I mean the whole point of Harry’s mission as the boy who lived, was to kill Voldemort. He finally did in the last book, which was closure for him. There is no more reason to lengthen the adventures of Harry and company. The characters had a long journey to get to where they are, so I think it’s time to close this chapter of Harry Potter.
guest
I can totally see why he doesn’t want to get typecast. But it would be really fucking cool if J.K Rowling did a book about the old Order or something like that.
guest
@LKJSlain@xanga - *jawdrop* why not?!
And I wouldn’t mind reading prequels involving Snape, Dumbledore and Voldemort. The three most fascinating characters and we don’t know that much about them!

@mycontinuity@xanga - I think it’s a childhood thing. I started reading when I was a child and the magic kinda carried through for me, even now I’m completely in love with the series.

First world problems.

@BloodIsLove@xanga - I agree! Snape was always a mystery untill the last couple books. It would be awsome to have a book here he is the new head of hogwarts, new characters, new enemys, or somthing like that….

A FEW EXTRA AMERICAN DOLLARS WOULDNT HURT! PLUS I WANT TO READ ABOUT HARRYS KIDS AND THEIR MARRIAGE. RON AND HERMONIEE. BLAH BLAH..
SUCK IT UP RADCLIF. IF IT WASNT FOR HARRY POTTER YOU WOULDNT BE NO BODY IN ENGLAND…
guest
I think that if she were to write more about Harry Potter, she could write about him as an adult. Therefore, Radcliffe wouldn’t necessarily have to play Harry anymore. Problem solved.
I agree with SexyGamerGirl ~ why not write about the other characters in the HP series?
guest
“about Harry”
We can still hope.
guest
Well, of course I’d read another Harry Potter installment, but I’m with Daniel on this. There are already 7 books and 8 movies about Harry Potter. There is such thing as too much of a good thing, and any more books would run the risk of destroying the magic behind Harry’s world. It’s special because of the amount of time we all put into reading the books, watching the movies and waiting for each new installment. Now it’s over and we should let it end. Every story has to end. We can’t just whine and complain more books and movies out of them. It’s exhausting to spend so much time on one project. Let them have a break and I’d be even more thrilled to pick up another book by J.K. Rowling that has nothing to do with Harry Potter, because I’d know that in that book is a gateway to a brand new world that needs discovering.
guest
I would read it.
sunflower / 294 posts
well, i mean i’d watch it/read it but i am a strong believer of the saying that, “all good things must come to an end.” and any more books/movies at this point would be too much. i love the series, this is coming from a huge harry potter fan, that i don’t think another book should be written or another movie made because things were left how they were supposed to be and we should all just enjoy what the harry potter series is instead of trying to drag a good thing on for too long.

poor daniel <3

the 8th book would have to be a prequel. adding anything else wouldn’t work.

No this is a stupid blog. Rowling planned it as 7 books they kept as 7 books. Where are you getting your sources stupid tabloids? Thats crap mind you. Go to leakycauldron.org or mugglenet.com you should be ashamed of yourself for writing such garbage……celebuzz is garbage its owned by national inquirer

@ravingninja@xanga - amen JK rowling didnt rule out any more books but seriously Celebuzz? stupid source this blogger used thats like me saying “OH MY GOSH KATE MIDDLETON IS PREGGERS! National inquierer said so! LAME

Writing another book would be awesome! But it wouldn’t feel neccessary, yknow? It ended really well, all questions answered, a good insight into ‘Harry Potter now’ with the last chapter …why add on to it? Unless it’s a book about Snape or something …Or a book each on different characters?
guest
LOVED the series – I grew up with it. Loved the last book. Wasn’t a fan of the epilogue.
But the series is over. If she took it anywhere else, it would only be a disappointment.
sunflower / 416 posts
I don’t think Rowling should continue with more books about Harry – but I would be DYING to read some prequels about Harry’s father and co.
Or even something about Dumbledore and Grindelwald! OMG THAT WOULD BE EPICCCC
guest
I love Harry Potter and I feel the series ended well (minus that awful epilogue) and having an 8th book wouldn’t feel right. I don’t blame him for not wanting an 8th, he’s already devoted so much of his life to playing one character.
guest
@aN_amAYzInG_storrII@xanga - Really? You hate the man because he didn’t want to play the same role for the rest of his life? Do you want to see a Harry Potter movie almost every year all the way up until Harry goes through his mid-life crisis?
Every book series and movie franchise has to end sometime, they can’t go on forever, no matter what whining fans want.

Just woke up…
@aN_amAYzInG_storrII@xanga - You’re the one who said you hated Daniel Radcliffe because of this. Your exact words…“He’s on my hate list again. Bastard.“
J.K. Rowling only actually planned to write 7 “Harry Potter” books, and that’s the exact amount that she wrote. You want more books just for the sake of more books, that’s just pointless. At some point the story had to end, J.K. Rowling was wise enough to end it before it got completely stale.
