Famed designer Marc Jacobs strolls around New York’s Bergdorf Goodman in a Prada skirt and sneaks.
The skirt looks almost kilt-like, so if I saw Marc Jacobs on the street, I may not even think or look twice. Nevertheless, I can’t help but wonder: is this a trend that’s going to catch on? Will men everywhere start wearings skirts, or perhaps even skorts?
The interesting bit? This skirt was not designed by Prada for men, but it is a skirt made for women.
Fashion Indie writes that they think Jacobs werqs it. I can’t help but agree.
But what do you Lovelies think? Does this work? Or do you think it’s only okay because it’s Marc Jacobs wearing the skirt?

BIG NOT!
just thinking about it makes me cringe0_0

not hot at all

That particular skirt is NOT hot. It’s a mix between a-line and kilt…on a man. What was hot was seeing Chris Noth in a kilt on the catwalk for a Paralyzed Veterans Association of America fundraiser. It’s a lot less hedonistic too.

The only part that was bad was seeing some of their bums.

I don’t think it’s not okay because he’s a man, I think it’s just unflattering to him. Maybe someone else could pull it off?

GUYS AND SKIRTS WILL NEVER WORK.
guest
Lets leave the skirts for the females.

he looks hot but his outfit isn’t hot. his long tunic sweater matched with the skirt makes him look shorter than he actually is. the orange/white socks are kinda cute. it would look hotter if he just wore those tight pants and showed off his bulge:D the tight skirt restricts your walking, so he can’t casually stride easier if he just wore pants.

Kilts work well on men. I’m not sure about that particular skirt, but maybe a different one… I’m all for guys wearing skirts. Dresses would be slightly odd, but if it’s acceptable for girls to wear guys clothes, then why not guys wearing girls? I honestly think it may work if it were a different skirt, that one is just not flattering for him.

No way! I’m half Scottish and on behalf of my people I apologize for starting this

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO it looks awful! Jeez people, leave the skirts to women.

@livinguntamed@xanga - hahaha thanks for that comment!

So, this picture must’ve been very cringe-inducing, because it wouldn’t even load past his waist. Thanks, Dell.. You get a point.

I have no problem with men in skirts (and this is coming from a conservative, home-schooled Christian) but I have to admit I’m not crazy about this outfit. The length of the shirt is kind of awkward, and I feel like it could use a pop of colour near his face.

hell to the no! ESHAYES BRO!

I saw a man coming out of Walmart wearing a skirt. I really want to call it a kilt but it wasn’t a kilt. It was a skirt. I don’t think it was a good wardrobe choice for him.

If I were to wear a skirt for the fun of it, I would wear something that has much more leg room. Scotland had it right with the kilts. Those skirts? No, not really. Haha!

crazily disgusting if you ask me.
guest
Hell no! Not that I’m sexist, but… men are already ugly enough as it is.
guest
i like that haha

LOL, there was probly only one hiney on there I wouldn’t mind seeing but not in that position!
guest
Not.
Especially coz that skirt appears to be bodycon & I do not like to see mens’ asses.Just in general I don’t like seeing mens’ knees or too much calf (long shorts are hot though).

Recently I was at my local Ren Faire… saw quite a lot of bustled skirts and just skirts in general… on women. But! I saw a man rocking a kilt. And I was thinking “That’s a kilt… on a guy… Awesome! Way to go man.” If they have the legs and the confidence for a skirt (kilt or otherwise), a man can wear said skirt.
guest
Yeah, NOT for me.
His skirt doesn’t even look good with his outfit in the first place!

Kilts are fine. Arabs in robes are fine. The guys in Troy? Totally fine. It’s a culture thing- if it’s something men usually wear in their culture, it tends not to look feminized.
In the States though, the guys who are going to want to wear skirts are ones that are more feminine- thus making it decidedly UN-hot for the ladies.
guest
It depends on the guy, but some guys can really pull it off. And when they can, man is it sexy. Not to mention the amount of confidence it takes to do something like this is sexy in and of itself.

I actually think it’s super hot.
I talked to my boyfriend before about how hot I think kilts are, but he’s really not the type to wear them.
But yeah, I think he looks super hot in this.I think everyone is just very close-minded about what’s acceptable, and they aren’t thinking about the fact that when women started wearing pants it was a HUGE deal and nobody thought that was attractive then either.
guest
Men + skirts = *cry*
guest
It’s not that I don’t think men can wear skirts. I just don’t know if Marc Jacobs has the right body type to pull it off. If he was tall and lean with thin legs, I think it would work.
Oh, and a different jacket and shirt with it.
But hey, he’s the one that’s the designer.
guest
lol I think it looks better on Marc Jacobs than on the model!
But I dig men in skirts
sunflower / 397 posts
Not. Men… stick to pants and shorts please.
guest
It is time that men and women should be accepted and attractive in all manner of clothing. I’ve slept with a man who wore a skirt (and another who wore a kilt-what’s the diff?) and I am a pretty picky lady (as in I’m pretty masculine myself at times and I need a seriously manly-man to get down with). Men need skirts. They need air in their knickers every once in a while too! (plus everyone else gets to check out their hot gams in something other than cargo shorts -ugh! gross!)
Y’know…I wonder if that is what it comes down to? Do men have a problem showing off their bodies?
I say this because men’s bathing suits are kind of lacking in that way too. Apparently only “fags” and “Euro trash” wear “banana hammocks”…what’s up with that? And what’s up with loving another man being the worst taboo among dudes anyway?
SKIRTS FOR MEN!
guest
I’m definitely a fan of kilts, and that particular skirt isn’t all that bad. But I don’t think I’d want to see the majority of men in the majority of skirts. It wouldn’t catch on anyway.
guest
Guys in Korea already wear foundation, lip tint and carry purses, so I can see it catching on here.
guest
It’d be only acceptable if it were short enough to make sure he’s still got balls

Let’s don’t and say we didn’t, shall we?

HOT, because he can.

No, they should leave skirts only to women.

This outfit makes him look like he has a long waist and really short legs. I don’t like it.

PLEASE NO.

People can wear whatever they damn well please, and you have absolutely no right to judge ANYONE based on their fashion choices.
Quite frankly people who judge others based on their fashion choices are hollow, shallow individuals. What a person is wearing doesn’t make the person. How about you get to know them first?
By the way, I wear a kilt semi-regularly, and I wear little 2.75″ shorts on a regular basis. What now? Judge me all you want, I don’t care, because that just tells me what kind of person you are.

NO! ><
