I’m bringing the 90’s back. That’s right. I said it. Just kidding, it already came back, left, and now it’s creeping its way back as does every other generation… I mean the 80’s are still in, right? As I went through my DVD collection the other day I went back through memory lane remembering these certain 90’s teen movies I had at my disposal that I seemed to only watch with my girlfriends on a lazy Sunday afternoon. So I thought it would be nice to pay homage to those films that taught me about “love”, friendship, fashion, and how to have a kick-ass party.

Clueless (1995) Alicia Silverstone. Check. Awesome fashion. Check. Rad music. Check. Hot guys. Double check. This is the epitome of 90’s teen movies; it defined our generation and sprung out a plethora of new slang, bright clothes, and our introduction to Paul Rudd. You honestly can’t think back to the nineties without remembering this movie and smiling about Brittany Murphy’s (may she rest in peace) chubby cheeks. I have no idea how many times I’ve seen this movie, or how many more times I will watch it, but I will say this movie will never be forgotten, and I hope that even you kids born way after it’s release have given it a good watch.

10 Things I Hate About You (1999) Right at the cusp of the new millennium, but a 90’s classic nonetheless. This movie which was adapted from a Shakespearian play plugged our heart strings with a musical number, showed us that geeks rock, jocks are lame, and that smart bitchy girls actually do have a soft side. Yes some of the dialogue is cringe-worthy, and the dad is kind of ridiculous (whose dad isn’t?), but it has a lot of heart, intellect, and a cute made-in-heaven love story. Sadly, we lost another star from the 90’s and Heath will always be missed, and thanks to this film we got to know and love him, even if just a little.

Can’t Hardly Wait (1998) You have Jennifer Love Hewitt who was, like, the go-to girl for teen roles, the young and sexy Peter Facinelli playing the typical jock douchebag, a ghettoized Seth Green playing a wannabe be hip-hopper, and a larger than life house party that finally brings jocks, nerds, trolls, and foreign kids together. Now tell me, how can you go wrong?

She’s All That (1999) We all remember the song, Freddie Prinze Jr.’s big brown puppy dog eyes, the spilled drink heard around the world, and the dope dance number lead by none other than Usher. This was another movie that shaped our generation, and became a classic in it’s own right. Sure it’s cheesy, but it’s just so darn funny and cute. Rachel Leigh Cook showed us that nerdy girl’s who wear glasses and have paint on their overalls can totally be transformed into hotties and that not all jocks are jerks or dumb.

Dazed and Confused (1993) ATTENTION: You don’t have to be a stoner to love this movie. You just have to be into 70’s nostalgia, have a fat crush on Jason London (the non drug addict twin) or Milla Jovovich, think Parker Posey is hilarious, and be strangely attracted to older dudes who still hang with all the high school kids. This movie is a straight up stoner, teen, and nineties classic that never gets old.

So tell me, what are your favorite 90′s teen movies?
