Every year on 4/20, 10-15,000 people gather on the law at the University of Colorado in Boulder to smoke weed. The result is a HUGE smoke cloud sure to take down anyone in contact with a serious case of the munchies! More photos at BuzzFeed.

Why would you “celebrate” on a day Columbine happened? It seems selfish and stupid. While families are mourning their children, people wanna smoke an illegal drug?
I hope these people get arrested.

@UnconventionalButterfly@xanga - People have been celebrating 4/20 since before Columbine happened. Also, terrible things have happened on all sorts of holidays. If 4/20 was your birthday, would you forgo celebrating it because of what happened at Columbine?

wow. that’s ridiculous and i thank God i don’t live anywhere near there. the smell of weed is nauseating.

@UnconventionalButterfly@xanga - Oh well. That’s your opinion. Some people don’t find it stupid, and they can celebrate it if they feel like it (although, they might get arrested, but that is their problem). They aren’t harming anyone. Not smoking weed won’t bring back the kids who died in the Columbine incident. So why the hell does it matter? It doesn’t.

@FreeYourFears@xanga - Actually they could harm someone, or themselves, sense they are under the influence in public. Oh and please don’t even start with the whole “nobody is violent on weed” because I know some people who have been. Its just as stupid as gloating that you’re waisted in public. It IS my business, sense my tax dollars are getting waisted on something this stupid.

AWESOME.
Good thing I live in Utah and everyone would get fucked from every side of the law if anything like this were to happen here.

This is awesome.

Ahh, so many of my friends go up there every 4/20. I myself never do, but I’m starting school at CU Boulder this fall!

you can see pollution clouds from the hill top all the time if you’ve ever lived in california. CA does it harder, and more toxic, because it is carbon monoxide emissions:D breathe in the happy air, mofos!

As someone from Denver, I always find the whole 4/20 stuff to be terribly disrespectful, especially when my classmates back in high school would be excited and celebrate right in front of people who were mourning as they as lost someone in the tragedy. This is coming from someone who is an adamant supporter of legalization. Also, just throwing this out there, it is CU Boulder, not UC Boulder. I’m glad I don’t attend there because I hear it makes it near impossible to make it to class since there are so many people in the way.

This is exactly what the holiday is.

This is freaking awesome, lulz.
I’ve heard so much bitching about this holiday, it’s annoying.
I’m an avid weed smoker, but this “holiday” isn’t a big deal; it’s just some people think it is.

As long as people smoke their weed away from me and without stinking up wherever I am, I really don’t care. I can’t believe they actually have a big gathering like that, you’d think the school would try and stop it, you know, cause it’s illegal and all…

@UnconventionalButterfly@xanga -
I go to CU Boulder and I personally don’t participate in this, but I know a lot of people who do. It’s definitely not a celebration of Columbine, and a lot of the people who do this aren’t even CU students, but people come here because the event has gotten so big that they know this is literally the only time and place to do it. People even drive and fly here from 1000′s of miles away. They don’t usually get arrested unless they’re doing something that is extremely dangerous or harmful to themselves or others, because the police really can’t contain this many people at one time.
I’m not a huge fan of the entire thing, but I feel like I should explain partially because it’s really misunderstood by a lot of people who think it’s a celebration of Columbine or a huge, violent riot. It’s really just a bunch of people who apparently think it’s cool to get really high together.

@FreeYourFears@xanga - What happened on 4/20 before Columbine? Like, why were they celebrating before Columbine happened?

@AngelAsh_86@xanga - Do you mean why were the stoners celebrating on 4/20 before Columbine? Because they fucking felt like it, my dear, that is why! Why do we celebrate Easter? Well, lemme tell ya, it isn’t because of Jesus. Jesus has nothing to do with Easter baskets or Easter egg hunts. We do it for the fun, honey. Fun, fun, fun. Might as well have some of it, we’re only on this planet for a short period of time!

@FreeYourFears@xanga - Thank you for stating that just because something tragic happened 12 years ago on that day doesn’t mean those people don’t have the right to enjoy themselves, there is no relation to the two. The people who lost someone they cared about that day hurt every single day, not just the anniversary of when it happened. But damn I wish I could be there!
