On April 14th, fashion label Fendi put on a runway show for their new line…and the models were children. Fendi constructed an actual runway in the middle of their 5th avenue store that even had a photo pit and a backstage. Uh…what?!
OMG. I won’t deny that these children are adorable and I want to squeeze them in their little blazers and ballerina skirts. But some of you might be wondering: who even are these kids? They’re the children of Fendi’s biggest supporters and most frequent shoppers.
After the show, the kids reportedly had a lot of fun and were given cupcakes, balloons and a party with a DJ.
My only problem with all of this? Well, there’s the fact that one of the pieces, a girls suede jacket, costs more than my closet: $1,870. Nearly every piece of luxury clothing for kids costs well over $200…and that just doesn’t make sense to me.
What do you Lovelies think of Fendi’s new line? Do you find it adorable yet very impractical?

Adorable kids. Overly priced but parents who can afford it will probably buy these for their kids.

@MissPixieGlitter@xanga - my thoughts exactly.

My real question is WHY are they over 1000$? You can’t tell me that initial development and drawing time, cost of the fabric, and labor time to make these pieces is honestly worth that much.

wow these kids are adorable haha but wow super expensive! Those kids have some lucky parents that can afford them.

They kinda look like Gap clothes to me, but cute

Adorable! At least the clothes are age-appropriate, and hey, there are always going to be people with enough money to spend over $1,000 on an outfit for their children, so why not? It looks fun

I’m just glad they do not like pageant kids..

They’re sooo cuuuuute!!
I think it’s very stupid to spend $1,000+ (hell, even $200+) on something that’s just going to get juice spilled on it, plus your kid doesn’t give a shit how much it costs, they just want to play and be a kid. But rich people like to spend money on things, even if it’s pointless, so companies will continue to make things for them to blow their money on. There’s nothing wrong with buying your kids nice things if you can afford it, but I think there comes a point when it’s excessive.

I’m just glad to see (from this post, anyway) that the kids are dressed appropriately. Runway fashion and big name designers tend to be expensive, that just comes with the territory; it’s art! And this is fresher than seeing kids dressed like sluts, which sickens me

I don’t think it matters that the clothes are expensive. Let the people who have the money to buy it, buy it. In the meantime, the kids look adorable and apparently they had fun.

cute!!!

@nomnomyourbewbs@xanga - I was thinking the same. They did a good job portraying what an actual kid would look like in the clothing. Complete with messy uncombed hair. :-p

Adorable! Silly prices, though.

I really don’t like the first pic where the boy is wearing nothing but shorts.

@starcrossedloversdivine@xanga - half is probably due to fendi name, major portion of the rest is probably due to the suede being from actual animal hide. an adult sized suede motorcycle jacket with washed effects by alexander mcqueen costs 4 grand =S
just like food, if it’s natural (not synthetic/processed), u’d be amaze how expensive things really are @@

i thought it was ridiculous to spend so much on kids as to show off the parent’s wealth, like diggy simons or tom cruise’s daughter or many other celebrity children
but look at some of them, they grow up to showing to have talent in design and arts
i still chuckle at how tom cruise’s little daughter actually teaches him how to dress
so just like letting children learn violin or piano at a young age, maybe this early fashion practice will help them be creative artist/designers in the future

this is f’n ridicules!

Definitely adorable! A whole lot of impractical, as well.

@nomnomyourbewbs@xanga - that’s exactly what i thought!

There are people who can afford to spend that much on clothes for their children. By afford, I mean they don’t even think about the fact a child’s jacket cost almost $2000 and they may outgrow it the next year, the way I don’t think about the stuff I buy for my son. I just buy it. Who cares if people want to spend this much money on their children? That does not mean they aren’t going to raise their kids to have morals and values like everyone else does. It just means they have more money.
