A man in Georgia inked the letters “DB” (for “Daddy’s Boy”) on the shoulder of his 3-year-old son.
His punishment? A $300 fine and a year’s probation.
The father claims he was so drunk at the time of the incident that he didn’t realize what he was doing. PARENT OF THE YEAR!
I mean, did this dude just have a tattoo gun lying around his house? Even if he did, you’d have to get pretty smashed to employ it on your toddler. This guy should get a stronger punishment, in my opinion.
What do you think?
guest
O.O He def. should get punished more. That’s like cruel.
guest
If he’s getting drunk enough to do things to his son with needles that he doesn’t remember in the morning, he should have his child taken away from him.
Now his child will always have a symbol etched onto him to remember how great his daddy was. Yep, I’m sure he’ll still be a daddy’s boy once he’s old enough to know what happened to him. Nice going.

@Sand_notes@xanga - This.

NOT COOL.
guest
release a mound of killer bees, so he can get a bee tattoo on his ass.
guest
This should be considered child abuse. And he should be charged with it.
guest
Off topic, but when I see “DB” I automatically think douchebag..
On that note, that man should not have children.. :/
guest
Ironically, I think DB – douchebag…and definitely this dad was…otherwise, funny story to tell the ladies in the future…” I was so hardcore I was tattooed at 3!”
guest
re: I meant as punishment for the dad:D

This is absolutely child abuse. And is “being too drunk” an accepted excuse?! HEY, CHILD SERVICES, I FOUND SOMETHING FOR YOU.
guest
Oh wow. That poor child. That poor father. This is sad.
guest
Poor kid!
guest
Painful for the toddler.. what kind of father does he have, anyway? Sick
guest
you know i could accept it… kinda…if he had been sober. bug since he was so wasted… not so much. he must have tortured the kid.

I wonder if there was a mother around.

i think he should pay for the laser surgery to remove that
daisy / 639 posts
I think the punishment was pretty good since according to the article he’s not even allowed to see his child again…
There are ways to remove it in the future if the child desires. I think there are much worse things that could have been done to him and he should grow up to laugh about it, instead of making a big deal.
guest
When the kid grows up, he’ll tell his friends he got it for his father, and that it stands for douchebag.

DB = Douche Bag

Horrible. Although, once I heard about parents tattooing a dot on quadruplets so they could tell them apart and I thought that was cool (it was on a toe).

He was so drunk he tattooed his own son? So who was actually watching the kid to make sure his dad didn’t light the house on fire and kill him, too?
dahlia / 2103 posts
Wow…he should automatically lose custody after an incident like that. I don’t really think there is any other evidence needed to draw the conclusion that this guy should NOT have a kid. If that happened to me, I would be getting that scribble covered up with something cool the second I turned 18. Unfortunately you can’t cover up the psychological damage that would be caused by having an incompetent drunk parent.
guest
The father is not allowed to see the child anymore. and he received the appropriate punishment for the crime that he was charged with, tattooing a minor. It is unfortunate that he did it to his 3 year old son, but I would rather have a judge that thinks with his/her brain instead of their heart. The severity of the punishment should not depend on how many tears the story evokes. If he were being charged with endangering a child, then it would a completely different story.
Hopefully the mother or other people in charge of the welfare of the
little boy will keep the dad away from him. Anyone who gets drunk to
the point that they don’t know or don’t remember what they were doing
(OR thinks that it is a good idea to use that as an excuse) should not
be in charge of taking care of anyone’s child. Somehow I doubt it, he’ll be back in his son’s life as soon as his probation period is over.
This statement from the article blows my mind, “though the judge
appeared to have her doubts. ‘I am trying to figure out why this is
illegal,” she said. “Is it illegal to pierce your little girl’s ears?’ “ Why is she even comparing something that is legal with something that is illegal. Make that comparison when piercing your child’s ears (or any other body part) becomes illegal. [ end rant

Usually people get so drunk that they tattoo themselves. They don’t grab a 3 year old child instead. Douchebag.

@Erika_Steele@xanga - Agree, agree, and agree!
guest
Wow that freaking crazy.. I wonder what he’s dad’s like sober. And really shouldnt he be watching his son not getting wasted?
guest
omgsh.. this kids future…
guest
That’s all he got? I hate our justice system. It rarely works like it’s supposed to. Unless it’s supposed to be screwed-up and backwards. In that case, it’s running perfectly. Who’s protecting this little kid?

What worries me most? What if he
didn’t
have a tattoo gun?
Anyone else’s friends go about tattooing themselves with X-Acto knives and magic markers? Because mine do. :/
guest
You tattoo your kid AND say that you were apparently completely wasted around your kid? Yeah.
……..
What the fuck does one even say about that?!
orchid / 120 posts
Agree. A stronger punishment is much needed for this case!
I mean that’s like… child abuse!!! I’m sure it hurt the little boy when he was tattooed.. Aghh, I can’t imagine every seeing my little brother being tattooed! HE’S ONLY A KID!!!! >.<
guest
OMG. Poor little boy!
guest
Not too much worse than piercing an infants ears, not that I support that either. Just an observation.
guest
@Sand_notes@xanga - I agree with. If he was around his son while he was that drunk, child protective services needs to intervene.
guest
pooooor kid, he’s going to resent his dad when he’s older.
guest
The punishment should be harsher for such a lame tattoo design. It’s like the father didn’t even put any thought into it. Oh, real heartfelt, Dad. Are they gonna do the laser removal thing now? Does that hurt?
guest
@lygophilia@xanga - The difference is that the child can take earrings out when they’re older if they don’t like it. A tattoo is permanent. And hurts a lot more, and hurts for a lot longer.
orchid / 121 posts
How painful that must have been for the poor little boy! I can’t even imagine how much he must have been screaming and moving all around trying to get away. So sad.
But that father should have been slapped with a WAY stronger punishment…. I hate to ask, but is there a mom even around for this? I would have KILLLED my son’s dad if he even tried something like this to our boy!
guest
If he was too drunk to realize what he was doing, how does he remember that it’s supposed to stand for “daddy’s boy”?
guest
Another excellent case for the pros of eugenics
guest
that poor kid
guest
How did he get the kid to hold still?!
He was drunk out of his mind….pinning the kid down, more than likely…and tattooing him with what I can only imagine was a homemade tattoo gun.
Yeah, people like that don’t deserve to have children. In fact, people like that should not be allowed to reproduce at all.
guest
hm, you know what i was thinking? i hope to god the needle was clean….
poor kid.
guest
Wowie.
What the hell…
How is the child going to grow with that?
It’ll be spread across his skin and faded and gross.
Probably mutated as well because bone structure changes with age.
The child should be taken away from him.
guest
@Sand_notes@xanga - I knew someone would make that comment, but if it’s in for over a year or something, that hole is there forever. While, though painful, the tattoo can, in fact, be removed, so which is more permanent? I’d say the piercing. Length of pain? Mehhh, okay. I bet if piercings took longer, they’d still be viewed as okay, though. I didn’t say it was exactly the same. I said it wasn’t that much worse. That was a tiny tattoo, which probably didn’t take too obnoxiously long. Again, let me state that I don’t think tattooing small children is right. I just don’t think piercing an infant is much better, but it’s viewed as perfectly fine. Current standards of our society is all.
guest
yeah he needs to have his kid taken away
guest
If he was drunk…..
orchid / 164 posts
Uh yeah. He needs to not have custody of that child.
guest
If I got tattooed at the age of three I’d feel like a bad ass.
Sixteen year old friend: DUDEEEEE! I just got my first tattoo!
Me: Oh yeah!? I’ve had mine since I was three! Beat that one, bitch.
—- OR —–
Me: Dad, you seriously couldn’t have picked a better word or design for me? Like maybe a scary, killer tiger? Or something like vampire fangs and “I bite”? The guys would love that!
guest
how is this any more different than forcing your child to have their ears pierced?
guest
@gettin_skinnay@xanga - I agree.
guest
What can u really do?? The boy survived. Trying to take it off will only scar him for life. Maybe when he is older they can make his father pay for another one to cover it or something?lol. Maybe the boy will name his future son/daughter initials to be DB. Its workable. Ya its bad but these days he can say its a birth mark. That’s one tattoo he cant be distcriminated agaist when he is older.
guest
@The_Bodyguard@mancouch - lol right?
guest
what…the…fuck.
guest
he should have been ordered to treatment, or, at the very least, to attend such and such amount of AA meetings.
guest
What a poor child! What a pathetic dad! Nothing more to say… *sigh*
