In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Diane von Furstenberg, aged 64, confessed that she believes “beauty is perfect in its imperfections.” She loves her wrinkles and since she was a young girl she had always wanted them.
I find it extremely refreshing that a woman who’s career is centered around beauty and youth not only confesses to embracing her flaws but also allowed the above close up, un-photoshopped picture to be taken of her (which includes bruising from a ski accident under her eyes…64 years old and still skies? Amazing). Photo above was taken by photographer Chuck Close.
What do you Lovelies think of DVF’s statement? Are you as pleasantly surprised as I am?

Good for her; more people should be like her =] I’m no where near wrinkles, but I’ll accept them when they come !

Good for her – really refreshing (unlike Donatella Versace).

This is what I call beauty. She is beautiful in her “imperfections” and in her confidence.

I’m glad she likes them cuz they aren’t going anywhere
but hers don’t even look bad! Some people look kinda scary when they get old.

Refreshing. This perspective ought to be shown more in the American media – I do believe we are one of the few (if only?) countries who look down on getting older rather than embracing it. A lot of youths today are quick to insult their elders, like once you get “old,” you’re “useless.”
All this coming from a 19 year old.

I love that third picture. She looks awesome.

@ohforrealson@xanga - strike out American and replace with Western…but then arguably also Asian, Eastern…it’s a global phenomenon not restrained by geographic differences. having lived in the US and germany, traveling around from turkey to china, it seems to be the main commonality shared by the majority of societies
i think DVF is gorgeous for embracing her true self and having the confidence to distinguish herself from the glamour, plastic surgery obsessed fashion world

wrinkles arent flaws -__- they r result of age who ever doesnt embrace that is delusional

good for her:) some people age gracefully or not as extreme as others. my grandma is 74 and barely has wrinkles on her forehead or face, only some visible wrinkles around her eyes when she smiles. however, asians are known to age slower than other ethnicities:P
