That is so sad, and strange.  I love big keychains, but I wouldn’t want one that big.  I drop my keys and keeping a live pet on my keychain isn’t very appealling…

This reminds me of those crazy shoes that had a goldfish in the heel. It’s kind of interesting until the animal dies and then it’s just cruel and, let’s be honest, not very pleasant.

Why would you want a live creature on your keys? I abuse my keys so much. Fuck lack of oxygen — it would probably die after I forget I have a live animal on them and just chuck them on the ground or in my purse. Not that I’d ever get one of these. -.-

Once again, its a fish. You can call it ignorant; I think everyone is being overly sensitive. Difference of opinion, I suppose. Ever catch lightning bugs as a child? Same thing. The lightning bugs were nice for a few days, but eventually died in that little jar. It isn’t cruel. Survival of the fittest, eh?

Yeah i was wondering how they would really be able to breathe for long in a sealed baggie… anyway, that’s really sad. Poor creatures.
Why does it have to be that? If people like sea life keychains, why not make like a Lucite or acrylic block (like the “water”) with a rubber or plastic turtle or fish inside? >_> Or like a plastic encasement with water or gel to be the bubbles and a figure inside. It would be cute and not harm anything. =/

Is it not animal abuse if there’s overcrowding in fish tank at supermarket that some fishes are dead and flipped over

But we do have to remember what culture is selling them. The same culture that’s animal control is allowed to kill stray dogs right on spot in inhumane ways. They don’t value animals like we do. And PETA does not exist in china, trust me. It would be a civil war.

If I’m given one or bought one I think I’d just cut it open and let the turtles and fish out and put them in a proper tank or something. Screw the key chain!

@phuck_diz_shiz@xanga - I think the difference is that the ones who are eaten often get to life a more comfortable life first (like many fish may be caught straight from the sea before they are sold, or even swim around in captivity), and even then they only die to keep us alive. Not just to entertain us.

People, when you buy something like that to “save” the animal, you just create a bigger market for it!  The only way to truly stop the sale is to stop the purchase – educate, educate, educate, so there’s no incentive for purchasing something like that.  And that’s a hatchling red-eared slider in the bag – they’re considered an invasive species in much of the world (even though they’re native to the Mississippi River system, not Brazil), so releasing them “to the wild” could be an ecological disaster for native species of plants and animals.  Sliders grow to be 6-11″ long with proper care – and there are thousands for adoption in the US from rescues, shelters, and humane societies (but beware of websites selling baby sliders and calling it “adoption” – a real rescue will ask you to fill out an application).
