Try to get through UCLA student Alexandra Wallace’s tirade against Asian students without puking. She not only singles out an entire community for their rudeness, which she attributes to their race, but she mockingly references the Sendai tsunami while making “ching chong” noises.

This girl demonstrates so much ignorance, that I can’t believe this video isn’t a joke, let alone that Ms. Wallace was admitted into UCLA (I guess applications don’t reveal racism, unless you list the Ku Klux Klan as an extracurricular). First, she makes “Asian” and “American” mutually exclusive by insisting that Asians learn American manners, and secondly, she picks on Asians for being impolite. Of course it’s annoying when people answer their phone in the library, but rude behavior shouldn’t be attributed to race. You could have made a whole video about library rudeness without criticizing people’s race. This girl is insensitive, but should you generalize all white American girls as such because of how she represents? No. She calls herself a “polite, nice” American girl with good manners, but her comments sound pretty rude to me. I went to college in America, and all kinds of people talked in the library, not just Asians. There is also no excuse for bringing the tsunami victims up in that rant.

After posting it, she took it down (presumably following all the hate comments), but copies of the video have since spread to other channels.  What do you expect after publishing that diatribe on a forum as public as YouTube? She has reportedly deleted her Facebook and deactivated her number as well.

While the UCLA administration calls the video “repugnant,” the internet has produced a slew of parodies, including Dracu Lo’s “ching chong ling long ting tong” remix:

I can’t imagine what this girl’s dealing with now that the video’s been seen by thousands of people. Good luck being taken seriously on campus! [via Angry Asian Man]
