It’s 70 degrees in my part of the world today.
70 glorious degrees. Evidence that spring is coming and pool days are on the horizon.
Men’s Health apparently felt like letting the ladies know how to lose 15 pounds by swimsuit season. I won’t get into why it’s messed up that a men’s magazine is telling us ladies how to lose weight, another time.
But the tips are valid:
#1: Eat a protein-enriched breakfast. You will save at least 200 calories going this route rather than a bagel on your way out the door.
#2: Reach for seltzer water, ice water, or unsweetened ice tea throughout the day. You’ll save yourself 450 calories staying away from soda.
#3: Turn off the TV when eating dinner. Distracted eaters tend to chow down an extra 300 calories per meal.
#4: Stand up. Simple enough, right? When the cell phone rings, pick it up and take a walk. Park further away for an extra calorie punch. Just find a reason to move! You will save an extra 334 calories a day.
#5: Pack lunch and eat dinner at home. This is my ultimate weakness. Driving to Chipotle is often so much more appealing than cooking on my own. But not only will you save 200 calories/day, you’ll also save a buck or two in the process.
These sound relatively easy enough, right?

yeah because those tips alone will have you fabulous by swim suit season!!! …….smh. they are great tips, but let’s not forget that those tips alone won’t help you lose 15lbs. on another note, why does men’s health feel the need to give us women health tips?

Who wants to bet fat, middle aged guys who can’t get puss wrote this shit?

Meh, I won’t follow number one. I don’t need more protein, and I’m sure too many Americans can agree with me.

but yes these tips alone will not make anyone lose 15 pounds. maybe like 3-5 if you’re lucky. they are good habits though.

I’ve actually heard all of these before and I do most of them. Eh, whatever. No one has to listen. Mens Magazine, Womens Magazine, it’s all the same.
guest
lol, okay.
Firstly, mens health should stick to MENS health. What the heck?
Secondly, are these really all that surprising? *shakes head* I mean, c’mon. We’ve heard these from like a million places, already.

#6 do at least 100 situps, 100 pushups, and a 1 mile run per day along with a healthy diet to lose the pounds.

…and when you already do all of those things and more??? I guess they assume all of us are lazy slobs who guzzle sugared up coffee, plop ourselves down in front of the Hallmark channel in our spare time, and gobble down a giant bagel with a lb of cream cheese every morning. :/ 15lbs takes actual work, effort, dedication, exercise, and serious calorie cutting for me.
How about they drop the damn beer gut and hit more than the weight bench at the gym!
Glad I make a constant effort to be healthier and glad my bf takes care of himself as well!

I don’t get why this would be in a mens magazine when it is aimed towards women.

@ShimmerBodyCream@xanga - I can bet that.

why is it so hard for women to understand that men are superficial. they like looks. If you can spare 15 pounds then drop it. Not like its gonna kill ya?! you probably will be happier, and i’m sure he will be too cuz he wont have to listen to how you dont fit in those jeans or whatever. and plus he likes what he sees a lot more. stop being so damn sensitive.

To be fair, I didn’t see anything in the article that was specifically geared toward women other than the picture of the girl in the bikini at the top, which may just be motivation for a guy to look more attractive…? You can say you’re getting in shape for any variety of reasons, but if the goal you have in mind is just to look good on the beach, I think it’s safe to say that you’re more interested in having the confidence to approach some bathing beauty. Also, I think it’s more socially acceptable for women to swap diet tips than men, so who knows? They’re fine tips for both, I guess.

Men’s Health can STFU.

It’s really not that big of a deal that Mens Health posted this. You people are ridiculously too sensitive. How about drop 15lbs instead of bitching that a man gave you some tips on how to do it.
