I agree with your reply, to a degree. I’m a Christian, and I believe that God wants us to mourn & be affected by these tragedies; but he also doesn’t want us to live our life accordingly/in fear, or be totally immersed in the very concept of disaster. One big reason I hate watching the news is that it’s ALL bad news, ALL the time. It’s very annoying. I do like to keep up with current events & be more aware of the world. I live in a very nice house in North America, so I have a really unfair advantage to these people. They grow, expand, & become stronger individuals because of disaster. Since I live in a pretty flood/tornado/earthquake-free state, I’ll probably never experience what these amazing people have. I’ve got it made. I don’t think it would be influential to just say, “Hey. These things happen, I can’t control them, and it does me no good to relish over them.” Which is true…but they’re not just there to affect the victims. Us, on the outside looking in, can be changed/affected by the disaster of others, too.

And I guess after seeing the image of all the facebook statuses of assholes saying that the disaster in Japan is “karma” for Pearl Harbor, this really doesn’t seem that bad. Tactless, sure. But I made a really bad joke regarding it too the other day, but just to one of my friends who provoked the joke, so…can’t really judge.

I don’t care what he says. He could damn all of Japan to hell for all it matters. As long as he donates an amount of money that us non-famous regular people cannot, he can say what he likes. I’m pretty sure the little girl in Japan who lost her parents doesn’t give too shits about what someone somewhere says. Now if there’s money to improve her life, then we’re talking.

These famous people/rappers think they got money, so they can say whatever and not care =/ And for all I know, the money that they supposedly donated is probably an idea from their managers to get them to look good in public

@needtobreathe22@xanga - I’ve seen the after effects of the disasters and I’ve met and seen people who were affected by Katrina. Do you think that I should give them every exception to be miserable because such a horrible thing occurred? Are you saying that because bad things happen, I should just sit at home and immerse myself in negativity, feeling sorry for even being alive to experience and witness those horrible things?
Whether it is a big disaster like the tsunami or a small disaster like a parent’s divorce, it is all the same in the end. Some people can move forward and some can’t.
I don’t judge you for being all sad and sympathetic, giving your current prayers to this tragedy, so don’t attack me just because I am not stopping my life to be sad for the sake of Japan. I have to agree with @twenty_twenty_surgery@datingish that in a few months, less people will care because they’ll realize they have their lives to worry about too. I’m not the one putting up a pretense; maybe the difference with me is that I have accepted that these things happen and realize there’s no need to dwell, but to just take it for what it is and move along. Maybe you’ve been cushioned too much so you can’t accept that life’s tough. You live, you die, the end.

@shrewdinnocence@xanga - I have those same kind of feelings too…except they are mixed. It’s tragic but it’s life and that’s how it goes. It can’t really be changed. It’s terrible but like what @Sunny___Skies@xanga - said. They are basically a very earthquake prone country due to them living on the Ring of fire.

There’s a reason why those types of artists decide to stay underground. I mean the only thing I listen to that’s mainstream now days is a little alternative rock and techno that’s about it.

I shouldn’t have pointed my finger at you, because there are times where I just want to shut out the word, all of the pain & disaster, so I’m not 100% guilt-free.
I agree with your reply, to a degree. I’m a Christian, and I believe that God wants us to mourn & be affected by these tragedies; but he also doesn’t want us to live our life accordingly/in fear, or be totally immersed in the very concept of disaster. One big reason I hate watching the news is that it’s ALL bad news, ALL the time. It’s very annoying. I do like to keep up with current events & be more aware of the world. I live in a very nice house in North America, so I have a really unfair advantage to these people. They grow, expand, & become stronger individuals because of disaster. Since I live in a pretty flood/tornado/earthquake-free state, I’ll probably never experience what these amazing people have. I’ve got it made. I don’t think it would be influential to just say, “Hey. These things happen, I can’t control them, and it does me no good to relish over them.” Which is true…but they’re not just there to affect the victims. Us, on the outside looking in, can be changed/affected by the disaster of others, too.
