I had some mixed feelings when I first watched this video: Should I be amused or offended? Should I laugh or write a nasty comment?
It’s a group of guys spoofing the lives of women by harping on all the typical stereotypes: girls are always on some crazy diet, girls nag their boyfriends, girls love to shop, girls always use silly acronyms, etc.
My inner feminist was a bit horrified at the gross oversimplification of women, but the rest of me was ROFLing.
Ok, so these guys are making some broad generalizations about women, but I gotta admit, I can identify with a lot of them (Did I have a nervous breakdown and cry to all my friends when my cat died? Yes. Yes I did.) I really want to hate their chauvinistic humor, but I’m way too busy giggling at it.
So what do you guys think: Are these guys a bunch of misogynistic jerks or comedic geniuses?

I’m not offended; it’s hyperbole – it wouldn’t be funny if they were completely politically correct in their portrayals. They’re just taking bits of truth (also the basis for something funny) and blowing them up to be ridiculous. And they’re not favoring one gender: they have other skits with women playing the stereotypical man.

HILARIOUS!! xD
veyr sexist, but it’s in the name of comedy, and also puts people aware of the generalizations guys have on women sometimes.
i’m not saying all women are like that, but women at least carry one of those traits. xD
but i couldn’t stop laughing the moment they started going O..M..G!! xD

You shouldn’t be offended. You should laugh at it. It’s clearly one of the funniest videos going around the internet this past year. My friends and I quote this like our lives depended on it. Anyone who liked this video should watch the “Boys Will Be Girls: Night Out” as well.

Not to mention, the girls in this comedy group did a “Girls Will Be Boys” video as well.
guest
Yes, you have to watch the Girls Will Be Boys video. They’re not sexist, some of the things are pretty damn close to reality haha.

I’m not offended at all. I thought it was hilarious.
Way to go Harvard Sailing Team!

Very funny skit. We all need comedy in our lives.
If it were politically correct, it wouldn’t be funny.

Haha. I love this video. My favorite line “besties with testes”
But seriously, don’t be offended. I think what we should do is make a girls will be boys video.

this one guy said that comedy can’t be funny if it’s not gonna offend anyone.
well i’m not offended maybe because it’s not entirely true for me and i wasn’t really laughing
guest
OH MY GOD. GENIUSES. GENIUSES.
“I actually inhaled a huge gust of wind on my way to work.” LOL I WAS DYING.
so yeah, they really played off the stereotypes, but their expressions and tones were just so amazing that i HAD to laugh!
guest
OR MAYBE women should start fighting against these petty stereotypes that seem to hail true for most of us
guest
there’s no point in getting mad. This is hilarious.
guest
Whether it’s true about every female is beside the point.
Wish people understood that and didn’t mark everything as generalizing.
guest
If you can’t laugh at the absurd behavior of humanity, you’re basically left with the humor of cats falling off of things. Which is good, but I don’t want to be exclusive, you know?

@onefreebetch@xanga - that would be a good idea.
guest
they r gay… they r not makin fun of girls…
sunflower / 355 posts
@PUMPKiN_ERiCA@xanga - I’ve seen that one! They also depicted stereotypes of how men act so it’s not entirely a commentary on women alone.

“I ate a big gust of wind on the way to work” “I shared a bagel with the garbage”
“You guys wanna split an ice cube or something?” “Can I just drink the run-off?”
I think it’s hilarious. Maybe if I were more like that I’d be more offended, but they did a great job!
guest
Haha, I’ve seen this- it’s hilarious! They have a “girls will be boys” version where it’s girls parodying guys.
guest
I’m a huge feminist, but this is just funny. They didn’t push a superiority over women, just made a little fun haha.
I died- “I shared half a bagel….with the garbage”
guest
@f5ye_angel5@xanga - i think oftentimes comedy is Only funny if there’s the chance of offending someone. nothing ventured, nothing gained

lmaooooo who here wants to share an ice cube? or a big gust of wind with me

ROFL. This is exactly what I needed now that I’m studying for my exams.
I thought there was a smart saying that goes: don’t take yourself so seriously.
There’s a time and place to petition and oppose what people say and do. But when the intention is all fun, and the result is humor, only laugther should be the result– not criticism.
guest
oh my gosh, this was freaking hilarious.
guest
Hilarious. Especially since I can relate to a bunch of it.
guest
BAHAHA so funny!
guest
haha i love this
“we’re besties with testes”"don’t you testes besties” lmfao lmfao lmfao

I saw these way back. So awesome. The Girls will be Boys one is funny too. ^o^
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=paNiEdFTvuA&NR=1
tit for tat. ^o^ I like a lot of their other vids too. hilarious group.
guest
I don’t find it offensive at all. Everything is exaggerated and it’s all for fun and laughs. And laugh I did.
guest
I think it’s pretty disgusting and sexist, largely because if you have to question whether or not something is sexist or racist or heterophobic or homophobic, then it usually is
orchid / 190 posts
HAHAHAHAHAHA!! omg!!! i love this!! HAHAHAHA!
laugh!! it’s clearly made to entertain. if they were trying to insult they wouldn’t have made such blatant exaggerations. laughing’s more fun either way
guest
Wow…all that stuff is just obnoxious and neurotic when guys do it.
