Let’s just get one thing out of the way.
I am NOT pregnant.
So why am I showing you pics of these Target maternity dresses?
Because I scored each for $5 last weekend at Goodwill. Tags still on and all.
Again, NOT pregnant.
But I do love me some high-waisted skirts, such as this $118 Anthropologie number:
So I bought the maternity dresses at $5 a pop, cut off the tops, and poof: I had 2 skirts.
Well, kind of.
These were not only maternity dresses, but they were XXL maternity dresses. So they still needed a little help.
Which leads me to even bigger news: I learned how to sew people.
Well, kind of.
My momma taught me how to sew a straight stitch with her sewing machine. So I pinched in the skirts about 1 inch in on each side, sewed about an inch down on the top, and THEN I had 2 skirts.
So what do you think? I love that first pic of the black and white skirt because I think it is pretty similar to the Anthropologie one, just $113 cheaper.

Sewing is such a good useful skill to have! I encourage you to keep learning….making a skirt like the Anthropologie you show here is a cinch to make, actually!
Nice work with your DIY!

I have a small sewing machine and made diy skirts before from scratch but it was a multi-tiered skirt. it took me a couple hours to figure it out and finish one skirt but I managed
I like diy projects:)
