Despite photos of Megan Fox that show the actress becoming increasingly thin, Fox’s personal trainer says she just has a “really fast metabolism” and has a hard time gaining weight.
Reports Hollywood Life:
“Do I worry about Megan getting too skinny? Yeah!” exclaims Harley, who trains Megan and other celebrities like Robert Pattinson, Katy Perry and Amanda Seyfried.
“Believe it or not she has this really fast metabolism,” explains Harley. “So her training is all about body toning and sculpting. With her its really about she’s eating enough of the right things. People thought ‘Oh she must be anorexic’ but she’s far from that!”
In fact, Harley reveals, Megan gets very upset when she hears people think she has an eating disorder, especially since she struggles to gain weight. “She gets frustrated at times because she’s like ‘I need to put on weight.’ So she actually weight-trains to keep on that lean muscle tissue.”
Ah, the “really fast metabolism” explanation. You know that always makes those of us who gain weight just by smelling a cupcake feel soooo bad for you!
Do you think Megan’s problem is really her metabolism?

Either way I’m jealous like you wouldn’t believe.
guest
It’s believable. One of my cousins eat just as much food as her husband, yet she’s only a UK size 6 – and she doesn’t even exercise! So i guess, some people are just super lucky and are naturally thin.
guest
I’m the same way. x___X It does suck. xD too. btw
guest
She’s really thin, but she doesn’t look unhealthy. I believe that metabolism thing because I used to have a fast metabolism. It’s hard to put on pounds. I dunno wtf happened tho in the last two years. My metabolism is at a crawl and I gained weight. I’d eat a small woodland creature for her stomach!
sunflower / 302 posts
The last snide comment is kind of uncalled for. People criticize her for being “anorexic,” then ridicule her for her explanation? You don’t have to feel sorry for her, just cut the crap that made her have to defend herself in the first place.
daisy / 727 posts
My boyfriend is the same way. He can eat like no one’s business, but he doesn’t put on any weight from eating. I wouldn’t have believed it if it wasn’t for him haha. He always says it sucks so much.
guest
I don’t think she looks too skinny/anorexic… and her metabolism will slow down eventually, she’s still young.
guest
i believe the fast metabolism reason because when for the first 13 years of my life i had an extremely high metabolism and could never put on weight. i was always 10 to 15 pounds underweight and it was a serious problem for a while. of course now i would give anything for my metabolism to be that fast again
now its just average.
guest
She looks healthy. It’s typical for people to make a rumor that she has an eating disorder. This post is a fair example.
Even by saying ” do you REALLY think she has a fast metabolism? “
I used to be 107 lbs, 5’8″ in height and I could out eat any grown man. I don’t understand why people can’t accept other people’s good fortunes just because they were less fortunate
guest
She’s no where NEAR thin enough that I’d think she’s anorexic.
Although you definitely don’t drop from her former size to this one because you’ve had a fast metabolism this whole time.
guest
the first thing I thought of when I saw this pic was how toned she is, nothing close to anorexia. my perspective is different because I’m also thin and have a naturally petite body frame/metabolism, so I can relate to her and I think the opposite problem and think some people are getting too fat.
guest
im the same way and it really does get irritating after a while when people wonder if you have an eating disorder, but those who have known me forever know that ive always been this small and eat as much as my guy friends. my mom and sister are the same way, its just genetics
sunflower / 320 posts
I’ve always been dumpy.
guest
well it also sucks that when you have a hard time gaining weight the only way pple will accept you are still healthy is if you have crazy toned muscles. being called anorexic does hurt. you’re telling someone there is something mentally wrong with them when there isn’t and it’s cause of their physical appearance. so to state the obvious, not everyone’s body is the same! people need to quit putting other people down to make themselves look better
hydrangea / 87 posts
I would buy it, but what’s her explanation when she loses weight?
guest
I definitely believe that she has a high metabolism. She’s not that skinny and thin either, although damn that body is fine
daffodil / 1601 posts
A few of her angles can look a little bony but overall she doesn’t appear devastatingly thin. She has some curvature in the hips and the fact that she has muscle definition makes it seem highly unlikely she has an eating disorder. I always give people the benefit of the doubt and I would never accuse her of having an eating issue, but she did used to weight a little more, didn’t she? Perhaps she did and couldn’t keep it on.
magnolia / 1042 posts
@ohhhhhliv@xanga - good to know that because my metabolism isn’t like hers that means i’m less fortunate.
guest
@beebizzle@xanga - yeah really.
guest
Lmao, I was anorexic and not bony thin until I was very ill, but I do believe her trainer. Not that I even care. Why am I here? Honestly, how do I even end up here…
guest
she doesn’t look THAT skinny in the picture.
i actually see some muscle!
guest
I wish I had her body..
guest
I belive it.
I used to be that skinny when I was younger and had an extremely hard time gaining weight, and I ate like a pig. That’s just how some people are.
guest
She doesn’t look anorexic AT ALL, people are just use to looking at fat people and when they see someone of average weight, they think: oh, anorexic! That really is an insult.
guest
she’s thin, but not anorexic
sunflower / 447 posts
I believe her. She doesn’t look unhealthy, and up until the past year or so I’ve struggled to maintain and/or gain sufficient weight to keep myself in healthy BMI ranges. Some of us really do just have insane metabolisms, while others have more slow-poky ones. People are different, why is that so hard to believe?
guest
I believe it, she doesnt look aneroxic she looks like shes been toning up. I have very fast metabolism & it really does suck. & I can relate w/ her getting upset cause calling someone whos super skinny & wants to gain weight skinny, is like calling a person whos fat fat.
guest
Why the hell was this even posted? She doesn’t look anorexic at all. She looks healthy
guest
Skinny does not equal anorexic. Get that through your head, people.
lily / 5148 posts
But I believe the fast metabolism goes away when you get older and you pay for what you do to your body in your younger years. I’ve heard so many older people tell me this.
guest
It’s believable! There are people with fast metabolism. My brother’s waist is like a 26 and he eats without exercising. (I wish I had my brother’s metabolism
)
guest
If she got any thinner I would say she is too thin but right now I don’t think she is. I knew a few guys who had a hard time gaining weight because of their fast metabolisms. I saw it first hand, so maybe it’s true for her too lol she’s a lucky one! Shit.
guest
Here’s a thought: She just exercises a lot. She doesn’t eat junk. That could be it. She’s thin, as others said. Not anorexic. Combine that with her fast metabolism and she’s simply very healthy. Looking thinner compared to the rest of the country’s majority pop. doesn’t mean she’s LESS healthy for it. I’m about her size and I’m very healthy too.
guest
I have a friend who is extremely skinny – and I always let her know how much I envy her body. She HATES it when I say something like that to her. She explained to me how frustrating it is for her to try to gain weight because she just cant and how people always whisper about her behind her back because they mistake her for being anorexic/bullemic.
guest
I believe her & her trainer. I mean, you don’t know if people have eating disorders… some hide it well. But for some reason I don’t see Megan Fox having one. She seems too care free [about being thin]. Also, it would be frustrating to hear people say you have an ED. One, that’s a big accusation. Two, if someone is trying to gain weight, they’re sensitive about their weight (I know because my college coach tries to gain weight & when I told her her dad picked fun at how small she was, she got upset (although she tried to play it off).
guest
what about that strict 1000 calorie diet she said she was on?
guest
i wish i could gain more weight.. but i can’t -_-
guest
I think the only people who question thin people about anorexia are people who have never seen an actual anorexic. Usually, to some extent, you can tell.
guest
I dunno, some girls are naturally skinny. I think she is one of those girls
guest
I think she looks good. Just because she is thin does not mean she is anorexic. I’m skinny myself and eat alot of foods but its hard for me to gain weight. I think having a fast metabolism has something to do with it.
daisy / 543 posts
I’m like the only one who thinks her body looks amazing, not too skinny at all. She looks very fit and healthy to me.
guest
She doesn’t look anorexic, she doesn’t look sickly skinny.
I have a fast metabolism and have a hard time gaining weight as well, so its highly believable. i think people should just stay out of her business.
guest
@Jaimesayss@xanga - Agreed, I also can’t gain weight despite how much fast food and junk I eat, I know it may sound great to some people, but it really does suck being accused of being anorexic and shit even though I can’t help how thin I am. Megan Fox has a great body
guest
she doesn’t even look anorexic! her six-pack kinda gives it away.
daisy / 599 posts
I love how catty women get when they assume that the metabolism explaination is to make people feel sorry for them. I can tell they get so upset. I get the same reaction when I tell people it’s hard for me to gain weight. It’s always, “Oh so you want me to feel sorry for you?! *face gets red and smoke comes of of their ears*” No actually I just want you to leave me the hell alone and dont ever assume I am anorexic, that is all. OR I get the same old, “Oh that’s bullshit. You restrict yourself just like everyone else.” Uh, no I live on tons of fatty foods and have my entire life?
Keep your emotions in check ladies. Skinny people don’t want intentionally exist to make you feel bad about yourself, and the more you accuse them and question their eating habits, the more you will find out that they were just born that way and the worse you will feel. So just keep out of their business, eh?
orchid / 237 posts
I think that it’s possible for her to just have a really fast metabolism. I eat more than my boyfriend and I still haven’t gained any weight. She is thin, but not anorexic thin.
dahlia / 2103 posts
What’s with the snotty tone to this post? Some people really do have a fast metabolism…the end. I have the metabolism of a rock growing moss, but I’m not going to sit here and imply that people who are blessed with a natural tendency to burn more calories have anorexia. Geez. Oh, and one more thing….who freaking cares anyway?? It’s none of our business.
guest
post like these kinda bug me, not that this one is particularly saying it.. but since when does being skinny/thin equal anorexic
all
the time?

@MissAshley - I agree; it also makes you seem really insecure if you’re always trying to bring down people that you think are pretty/skinny/whatever. A little shot of self-confidence goes a long way. It would be nice if we could all just worry about ourselves and quit being so damned comparative all the time.

WOOOOWWWWW FUCK YOU. I feel for Megan. People have been telling me I look anorexic for years, to put on weight… it makes me really mad sometimes. I mean, at one point I was really concerned about gaining weight because I was in college and worked full time, so I had no time to work out ever, but I just ate healthier foods. I have been around 90-95 lbs since I stopped growing in 9th grade. Now that I have more time to go to the gym, I’ve actually GAINED about 3 lbs, but it’s all in muscle mass because I do a lot of strength training. Seriously, some people are so jealous they have to say mean things… Megan is gorgeous and people need to stfu about her weight.
sunflower / 370 posts
I saw that on Yahoo! this morning… it was titled as her workout secrets or something, and all they said was, yeah, she’s genetically blessed, plus she trains hard. What?! Talk about a disappointing lead in! I want to know, does she do interval training, pilates, what?
Cause she is really pretty. I don’t care for her acting, but she’s very attractive.
guest
of course shes not. i wouldn’t exactly call her healthy and youthful and vibrant… i mean obviously shes not having enough– but. shes not anorexic to me. i never once thought that. just seems like lack of calories, her energy went downhill. i used to be really attracted to her.
guest
@soulfuric - completely 100% agree.
and i’m not going to say anything else or i’ll just get rude.
guest
Well, I have the same problem, if I don’t eat 5 big meals a day, I will lose weight. I’m 5’3 and weight 100Ibs, but I can get to 89Ibs easily if I don’t watch myself. and I look bad with only skin and bone.
Some people think I’m lucky, but its was quite a pain when people made fun of me during high school, got bullied because I was like a toothpick……
Actually since I turned 28, my metabolism gradually slows down, and I noticed I gain more than my average so I can’t eat recklessly anymore.
guest
@ohhhhhliv@xanga - really? people are less fortunate for not having a fast metabolism? well guess the same could be said that some people (hint: you) are less fortunate by having a shitty personality.
guest
@raspbxrrryjam@xanga - In no way do you even have to be under weight to be considered anorexic, you can not diagnose an E.D. by apperance. ( Just a fact I wanted to share.) So please be aware of that.
guest
I believe her… and your last little comment… I doubt she is trying to make anyone feel bad but the fact is… if some one was constantly making you feel physically inadequate regardless of your size it effects you… I don’t think it’s a feel bad for me, it’s a shut it if you don’t have your facts.
My entire family is thick and I am only thick in certain places so i dealt with jealous or mean girls and bully’s talking crap telling people i was ana (which is a deformation of character for some.) My family had no issue because they new the truth, I eat like a football player, I can beat my 6ft3 250lbs brother in an eating contest and I’m 5’3 110-120lbs…I fluctuate… 3hours later i’m hungry again… Because I’m active… (when not pregnant)
It’s not about the outside image it’s about the health and i know what my body needs but it still hurts when other people gossip and you here people talking crap saying you look like a bag of bones…
guest
@chocosunshine@xanga - completely understand where you are coming from.
guest
Your snide ending comment is WHY she has to defend herself. It’s believable that she has a fast metabolism – alot of people do have that & can’t gain weight no matter how hard they may try. How about as a society we STOP accusing people of having eating disorders (when even if she did, it’s absolutely no one’s business.)
guest
@vexandcigarettes@xanga - The diagnostic criteria for anorexia nervosa includes having an underweight BMI. Does it make it right? No, because then people who need help won’t be deemed as ‘having a problem’ so they won’t end up getting the help they deserve. It’s why they’re changing the DSM. Just throwing that out there.
daisy / 502 posts
Being a sex symbol, she’s under a lot of pressure. I wouldn’t be surprised if she turned out to be anorexic.
guest
I believe it, look at how toned she is! They should write a story called The Media Who Cried Anorexia.
guest
Ugh, I hate this.
I can definitely relate to her. I eat all the time and never gain weight, and it’s frustrating because people keep telling me that I need to eat more, and that I’m anorexic. I tell them that I eat enough and that I have no eating disorder, but they just roll their eyes, and don’t believe a word I say. It makes me so angry and upset.
guest
She’s quite skinny. You can’t really claim she’s anorexic without actually knowing her, and even then, it’s doubtful that you would know.
I think it’s odd her metabolism suddenly kicked into high gear though. I would think it could also be stress. When I’m stressed and busy, I forget to eat but that wouldn’t necessarily mean I have an ED. Just like she might not.
guest
Yes. I am quite thin, but I pretty much live off of junk food and get little to no physical activity. And, believe it or not, having a fast metabolism can cause me to be insecure because I’m afraid people will think I’m anorexic if I eat a small meal or am just not hungry. People are always shocked, or even worried, at how much I weigh. But I honestly don’t try to lose weight or even maintain a weight. I’m sorry, but some people are just naturally thinner the same way some people are naturally larger.
guest
it’s really hard for me to gain weight. i have a high metabolism and burn calories very fast because of my high energy level and a tendency to be very active. i fight to keep my weight above a certain level, so i can understand her getting upset when people accuse her of this. i often feel like it’s just as hard for me to gain weight as it is for others to lose it.
rose / 980 posts
Once someone says they aren’t anorexic or someone says it about someone else, I tend to think they are lying. I once “had” a high metabolism too… but really I just didn’t eat that much and I never got hungry back then. Was I consciously anorexic? Nope. Did I eat enough? Nope.
guest
@vexandcigarettes@xanga - I’m aware of that, because, you see… I’m not a retard.
My comment was in reply to the fact that people are suggesting her current size is indicative of an eating disorder. In that hypothetical situation created by the suggestion that you can diagnose an eating disorder visually… she is no wear near thin enough that I would suggest she’s CLEARLY not eating.
guest
WHAT do people care? Everyone accuses skinny girls of being anorexic, but if they’re overweight, they never hear the end of it. Why are there such strict standards that celebrities and models have to be skinny and in amazing shape, but then people turn around and accuse them of being anorexic? What if they are? It’s because of the pressure they’re put under to be in that shape. A lot of girls suffer from anorexia with only half of that pressure to be thin, and a lot of them you wouldn’t even know just by looking at them that they are.
Uhm….yeah… *end rant*
guest
she doesnt look anorexic! sure, she’s thin but all i can see is muscle. simply because she’s not chunky doesnt mean she has an eating disorder! some people do just have crazy fast metabolisms -shrug-
guest
This entry annoys me. Yes I believe she has a fast metabolism.
I myself try to gain weight.
She just looks like a person who has small bones who also has little muscles on her.
orchid / 115 posts
i think fast metabolism does play a role in her body looking like that
i was called “anorexic” for my entire 5 years in high school, and whenever i get sick i’d drop to <100 pounds, You can’t blame someone for their fast metabolism (like how you can’t blame people for having naturally big busts X_X)
haha, i’m just happy that she’s looking fit and toned as opposed to frail and weak!
guest
Yes, I do believe it’s her really fast metabolism… unfortunately… I have two girlfriends who are like this… she struggles to gain as much weight as she can by eating right… and even junk food can’t help (both of them dislike junk food anyways) THey show up to my place eating all the lasagna that I made… and they still don’t gain a pound after eating it..
guest
As someone who gets told that I look “too skinny” and “almost anorexic” or that I need to “put some more meat on those bones”, I’m siding with Megan Fox on this. Some people DO naturally have a fast metabolism, and some of us actually DON’T need to cover up for the fact that we “might be anorexic” because — newsflash — some of us actually aren’t.
guest
You know, it IS actually possible for people to have fast metabolisms. -_-
Just because she’s a celebrity, people are quick to say she’s anorexic. In that picture, she doesn’t look unhealthy. She has some abs and appears to be pretty toned.
guest
Okay so us skinny girls can struggle too…give us a break. I also have an incredibly fast metabolism. I can work out and look toned like Megan or I can just not work out and still be super skinny if I eat correctly. It is still tough for us too ( I know roll your eyes ) but a lot of times people say horrible things about skinny girls too. Everyone is always saying how guys prefer women with curves etc. I currently have basically no breasts and I have a small butt…I have to work out to keep muscle in these places so it looks at least somewhat normal. It can be frustrating. I often feel guilty when people say I have a nice body…and I hate it when people constantly call me tiny.
Give Megan a break…she is obviously doing things correctly…working out and eating healthy…if she feels healthy good for her, leave her alone. She doesn’t look anorexic to me in the least. Everyone has their own body type. How about we all stop trying to get everyone to fit into a specific cookie cutter body.
guest
I’m sort of sick people think being thing = having an eating disorder. It doesn’t.
Honestly, I don’t know… I don’t see why it couldn’t be, you come across A LOT of people IRL that have that problem (or blessing however you look at it, I suppose), so just because she’s famous it HAS to being an eating disorder? I don’t think so.
I have no reason to believe she’s anorexic. Anorexia nervosa comes with PLENTY of symptoms other than just being thin, so to say she’s anorexic because she’s thin is beyond ignorant. =/
She doesn’t even appear to be of a dangerously low weight anyway.
guest
i’ve got the same shit…BUT i work out all the fucking time and have way more muscle than she does, so i don’t look that skinny.
but yeah i do believe her, it takes time to build muscle, she’ll look better in 6 months or so
guest
I don’t think she has a “problem” at all. She looks great – and HEALTHY! She wouldn’t be able to have the tone she had if she was anorexic because part of getting that tone is feeding your muscles. When I was not eating, I lost all my muscle weight… and lost tone and just looked sick.
guest
Whether it’s true or not, the last comment made me laugh. I do gain weight just by smelling chocolate LOL
guest
it’s sick that “anorexic” has become an adjective. it is a disease. it’s really unfair to be using that to describe people, it’s almost become like when people call someone “retarded”. if you want to say thin, say thin. not anorexic…
plus, just because someone is thin does not mean they have an eating disorder. the majority of anorexics never get to the “emaciated” state associated with the eating disorder, people just assume that restricting calories = weight loss, but in reality it’s much more complicated.
i also had a friend who had to weigh like, 100 pounds at 5’3″ and she ate like a horse. everyone’s body is different. don’t hate!
guest
@theflowerstem@xanga - I agree. she doesn’t look anorexic

that’s celebrity speech for, “I hold her hair every night after she sticks her finger down her throat”

Luckily I have a fast metabolism, but I’m too lazy to spend that much time on muscle toning… I should, but I don’t. Eventually I will.

“Ah, the “really fast metabolism” explanation. You know that always makes those of us who gain weight just by smelling a cupcake feel soooo bad for you!”
Believe it or not, some people have it. My mom has a stupidly fast metabolism and works hard to keep weight on. I wrote a whole post on this. Sure you can be jealous, but don’t blame her for your fatness when she can eat 40 cupcakes and not gain a pound.
guest
definitely not anorexic. Lol, I have the same body type/metabolism “problem”….it’s not a problem at all…it’s a blessing.
But she’s very toned, that’s visible.
guest
agreed that she’s too thin. but if her trainer said she has a fast metabolism, then she has a fast metabolism. everyone makes do with what they have.
don’t be upset because she has a faster metabolism than you do. at least you can work out and diet and lose your weight, but for her, no matter what she does she can’t gain it. you’re being insensitive.
guest
The only thing that gets me is that she’s lost weight. She wasn’t this skinny when she was in Confessions or really the first Transformers. Maybe she’s simply eating less junk than back then or the extra work is contributing? I don’t know. I never thought she had an eating disorder but I have always thought that she should want to be a little heavier. Glad to hear that that is what she wants.
guest
If she was anorexic she would not have any muscle, and she has a little. I know a lot of ballet dancers with that body type, very slim but lightly toned and they are healthy.
Actually, to me it’s the most beautiful body type, curvy is too much for me, catwalk thin is too unhealthy, toned can look bulky, but she looks just thin, graceful, i love her body.
guest
She doesn’t look unhealthy to me. She’s gorgeous.

Everyone is different. I know guys who struggle to gain weight, so why not girls? I do not like her acting but people hate on her too much.

I used to be super skinny in high school, and whenever anyone gave an eating disorders prevention talk, people would look at me. I ate like a normal person, I just happened to be 5’8″ and 110 lbs. I just wanted people to leave me alone and be interested in me as a person, not trying to figure out if I had an eating disorder.

She’s healthy. People often assume thin with “anorexic” , and chubby (which is different to fat) with “obese” . Can’t understand that >.<
