Even though it was jokingly said “Maybe we’re all just too wrapped up in the Internet to get laid?” I think that actually might be part of the reason. It just seems more realistic to me that people would be too lazy to fuck rather then making a conscious effort to wait till they’re ready.

I think some of it is probably the terrible economy.  School is super important – if you want to get one of the few jobs out there, you’ll probably need an education, so maybe people are just focusing on school?  Or else enjoying the free porn – we females can be expensive, hahaha.

Not sure I believe everyone they surveyed told the truth. Also, it’s such a huge age range; 15 yr olds and 24 yr olds are completely different (mentally, sexually, emotionally) . They should’ve split it up like 15-18 and 19-24. 

And we know that people are always 100% truthful on these surveys…

How can any study go about calculating this? The number could be a lot lower depending on what the majority considers to be “sex.” I don’t think it’s accurate to say that X amount of people are virgins if, say, half of them have had oral sex, but not intercourse.

Im glad. While I dont see a problem with people in that age having sex I just think too many are doing it just to do it or gain the experience. Thats definitely not the right reason to become active. Speaking from personal experience, regretting how easily I’ve jumped into bed with guys, I hope more people wait till they meet someone thats right for them. Not just that they wont regret it, but that they’ll cherish the memory.

Plus, a lot of kids don’t consider oral sex “sex” as such, which is kinda a problem.

I waited until I married but then I married at 17,  As for him?  There are some questions that you don’t ask unless you already know the answer.

Yay for the 30%!! Maybe some people want to wait until marriage. Maybe some people realize that a man or a women with out full commitment cannot fulfill the deepest needs in your life.  Maybe some people realize that purity is strength in so many ways.

 however the value i place on virginity is ‘religious’ in that it did come from a fictional storybook, before exposure to which, and a catalyst, virginity and sex had no value. the same cause made me want my first consensual kiss to means something as well. again though, it is an emotional thing, not a logical deduction/inference. there is near zero chance to find a person, who through mathematical formulae arrived at a conclusion about virginity.

 ’virginity’ is merely an unexamined variable, which ironically causes it to not have meaning to many of ‘our kind’. and to those who have tried to examine it, they generally do group it in with religious notions due to the denial of ‘pleasure’ for ‘higher meaning’. ‘higher meaning’ being an unreasonable idea.

I think it’s great that people decide to wait or even if they don’t willing choose to be virgins, that they are. It’s a great thing to have. I would like to meet a man that is still a virgin.

Virginity is subjective. It’s something that some religious people made up to make
people feel dirty and ashamed of their completely normal biological desires/needs. Sex is normal. It’s what we’re here for.

Then he realized I saw it as more, so he got all guilty feeling. And then he decided he wouldn’t ever do it with me because he didn’t want to take it away. And then after our anniversary we were just talking and stuff. And he realized that he loves me, and he would like for it to be special for me. And he said that it would be special to him because it would be with me. And that it’s the embodiment of love. 

Now we’re simply waiting because everyone is pregnant, and I’m not ready to jump on that bandwagon.
