Even though Anne Hathaway received mixed reviews as an Oscar co-host, you can’t deny how much of a treat it was to see her showcasing these lovely designer gowns (and one tux!) So, how do each of them stack up?
#1: The Atelier Versace, which she accessorized with Tiffany jewels, was my favorite. The sweetheart neckline and deep burgundy color flatter her statuesque figure and fair complexion beautifully.
#2: On its own, this Giorgio Armani Privé gown looks a little plastic-y, on Anne it looks modern and edgy. I’m so used to seeing her in red or black gowns that this one was a welcome surprise.
#3: Anne looks like a prettier, real life version of an Oscar statuette in this gold Oscar De La Renta gown. Love the flapper-inspired silhouette.
#4: Before I say anything about the suit, those Swarovski crystal-encrusted Brian Atwood heels are to die for. It’s a rare woman who can wear a tux and a high ponytail without looking gimmicky.
#5: This Givenchy Haute Couture by Riccardo Tisci number looks soft and classic — and perfectly fine as a dress – but it doesn’t grab your attention like the bolder dresses do.
#6: I wasn’t a big fan of this Vivienne Westwood gown. Anne looks amazing (the gown was made just for her), and the black ruffles are a nice touch, but I’m tired of seeing fashion inspired by Black Swan.
#7: This Tom Ford gown looks like something Anne should wear….in 50 years.
Do you agree with my assessment? Which of these looks was your favorite?

I think Anne Hathaway is a beautiful girl, some of those are pretty bad dresses, but there’s something about her that makes all of them seem okay. My favorite is the first one, She looks absolutely gorgeous in the Versace dress, I love her hair!

I think the tom ford gown is sexy in its own way. Young celebs don’t always have to be half naked to look good. What matters is that the gown fits and she looks sophisticated.

Personally, I would switch #5 and #2. But other than that, agreed.

I really liked the black ruffled dress
The blue one is the most beautiful though!
I am not liking the one ranked as ‘best’ though, nor did I like Scarlett Johannson’s dress. I guess I’m not feeling the pattern-ing too much, even if it’s ‘in’.

I love number five&& six. But then again I love those style of dresses. and They did look the most amazing. c:
I didn’t like most of her dresses for last night. some weren’t that amazing of chooses for her body. I don’t know, it didn’t really flatter her in my mind. .. But, She looked as beautiful as always through

i love anne hathaway
my favorite is definitely #1, though #6 is a close favorite too. both dresses make her look exceptionally classy and beautiful!
guest
Elegant.

Honestly the only dress I liked was #6 but I love her shoes in #4

I LOVE number 6 and FYI the black poof was WAY before black swan. You’ve never looked at gothic dresses before? Same deal. Get over it. -_-
guest
Huhn, I totally agree with your best to worst “dresses”. The top two are by far my favorites. The blue is stunning!

Number 5 is my favorite dress on her. It’s the best..the rest? I don’t like much.
guest
@UnconventionalButterfly@xanga - Lmao agreed. >.>; I’ve saw that dresses like that at my prom last year in june. .___.;
guest
I agree with the order that you listed them in. But I think my favorite would have to be 5, although I also love the first one. >.<
Anne Hathaway is so pretty. :3
guest
Not a fan of any of these at all.
guest
I agree… especially for the last one..

The final gown was an atrocity, & I also hated the Armani Privé. Looked like the material galoshes are made of. Hello, fembot! I loved the Vivienne Westwood & the Givenchy, actually, though I wish Anne hadn’t nervously touched her stomach so much while wearing the latter.
guest
they spent too much time picking gowns that the entertainment part that the host is suppose to provide was mostly put on the wayside
she is uppity and all but I don’t think she is that funny. I think they should’ve picked an actual comedian to host the oscars like ellen degeneres and conan o’brien. I like the Atelier Versace dress but not in burgundy, maybe a soft pink or light blue color.
guest
hm…I loved the Westwood. o-o The red one was my favorite though. She pulls them all off so well.
guest
Vivienne Westwood caters mostly to the gothic lolita crowd in Japan and the pop culture scene in general in places like Korea– I highly doubt that dress had anything to do with black swan and moreso to do with this background in the punk victorian look that is a popular niche in asia where her stuff is mostly sold.

I missed the awards so this is the first I’m seeing them all. They’re all gorgeous, but the first one is by far my favorite.

I really like the red one! It’s bold and it fits her pretty well. #6 is beautiful too.

I have to say I love them all. She rocked

WHY YOU SO GORGEOUS?

she. is. soooo. pretty. <3

#5 is gorgeous!! I love it…it looks so comfortable and classy. I also liked #1 a lot. the others are ehh
guest
I think only her first white dress and maybe the burgundy was was flattering. The others just did not look right on her body or fit her style.
guest
i think the one in red looks best
guest
Mmkee. Now someone explain to me why she needs more than one dress just to stand and talk all night?
It is so pointless. What a waste of time, energy and money. Buy one dress, and wear it for a couple hours. Really, it isn’t going to kill you.

Great commentary and choices, Jess! I concur…except I’d move the Vivienne Westwood to #5 and the Givenchy to #6. (PS I thought her vocal solo in the Tux was outstanding!)

I like #6 – the Vivenne Westwood dress the best.
Why wasn’t her red carpet arrival dress on this list? lol

She’s so pretty.

I’d put 5 at 2, 6 at 3, and 2 at 6…but I can see why this list is the way it is. Nice post!
guest
i think the suit is the worst!
guest
All of these look very well on her. None of them are ugly dresses, but her figure and hair really complete the picture on each.
guest
She’s beautiful but those dresses do nothing good for her
guest
i love the first dress and the white dress the best
guest
I really like her with her hair back.
guest
I absolutely LOVE the Vivienne Westwood dress. I loved #6, at least I’m pretty sure it was #6 that I was looking at. The cream color was lovely on her and I absolutely adored the designs. Although, Westwood’s dress just seams WAY more me – a little bit of gothic flair. Gotta love.
guest
The white one was my favorite
) What about her red carpet look, the red “vintage” Valentino or someone? I have a horrible memory XP
guest
Gosh you are the most critical female.. I wonder how YOU compare????
guest
I like the Tux and the Tischi… the first thing I thought when I saw the red one was “Why is she wearing a Fruit Roll-up?”
guest
I was a fan of #6
I think its a beautiful dress.
guest
I like 1, 3, and 5
guest
#1 n #5 –> VW fan ^^” so got to love them : )
guest
You forgot the archival Valentino red she wore on the carpet. That was by far the worst.
guest
I like all of them but the last one. And I agree, too many Black Swan inspired outfits, but that dress is amazingggg!

100% agree on number 1. That gown looks gorgeous on her!

the white one is my fave

everything she wears is stunning. I personally think that if disney were to ever make a non-animated version of beauty and the beast, she should play belle. understudy to me, of course.
guest
I think number five was the best. You said it didn’t grab your attention, but it grabbed mine. It’s absolutely stunning.
guest
Changing her dresses was the most interesting part of what she did as a host
