Are you obsessed with tagging people in your Facebook photos? Pixable has made an awesome study of Facebook photo trends, and what’s most interesting is the gender differences, as Glamour noted:
We’re so vain…or we’re really into photography.
- Women have twice as many looks, tags, and uploads as men.
We love our girls.
- Girls prefer photos with girls.
- Guys prefer photos with girls.
We’re on photo overload.
- The average number of friends a person has is 345, and with an average of 282 photos per friend, that’s 97,000 photos in your network.
Who’s looking at you?
- Women receive two thirds of all photo views.
- Guys would rather look at girls they don’t know than girls they do know.
- Girls prefer looking at other girls they know.
Go to Pixable to see their awesome infographic that breaks down even more stats on Facebook photos.
Do you think their findings are correct?

Kind of true, kind of not.

Uh… I have 1,177 tagged of me, that includes photos in my own albums. I know there are girls with WAY more.

@KickDrumHeart@datingish - it’s called an average..

@x__mh@xanga - I know what an average is. I think the number is brought down by people who don’t use FB.
guest
@KickDrumHeart@datingish - No, it’s not. Most guys do not even pay any attention to their own photos–never change their profile pictures or constantly upload pictures because I am pretty sure that most do not own or carry around a camera to document their every move.
You have an excessive amount of pictures and just cause you know someone that has more, does not make it any more common. I think people like you should stop taking pictures of the every detail of your life and enjoy your time out.

Sounds right to me. I know that women (including me) like to constantly look at pictures of women we know and see how they have changed.
I, however, have 34 friends, very few pictures, and I don’t let people tag me in photos. Too many people have tried to get back in my life, so I like to hide as much as possible.

@x__mh@xanga - Actually, I haven’t added any photos since October. You shouldn’t rag on someone because they like to make memories with friends and keep them with photos.

sooo true!

@x__mh@xanga - There’s nothing wrong with having a lot of photos. A lot of people like to remember things – I love looking back on old photos of me and my friends to remember the good times. That doesn’t mean I need to “enjoy my time out”.

@x__mh@xanga - Wth is your problem? They’re just pictures lol

@x__mh@xanga - Haha, this reminds me of a time me and my sister were at a hookah lounge and three girls started snapping pictures of themselves. “Wait, wait get me with smoke coming out of my nose teehee.” …Usually I don’t care, but since that hookah lounge is dimly lit and set for a more relaxing atmosphere, the flash was fucking annoying.
Also, I only have 33 pictures tagged of me and most are from my mom or my sister haha.

@individually_surveys@xanga - Having your memories stored in a Facebook photo album is cool, it’s just most of my friends usually have 90+ photos in one album and most of them look the same. There’s always plastic red cups, kissy faces, peace signs, random guy giving the middle finger, dry humping etc. None of which seem worth remembering. Maybe I’m just a Facebook noob and these pictures really are important?
guest
@Athlyx@xanga - Haha, no, I’d agree with you there. There’s a difference between remembering the good times and having photos for the sake of photos.
guest
@Athlyx@xanga - I am glad there is at least one decent person that agrees with me! It makes no sense to record every aspect of your life and I absolutely HATE when my newsfeed shows me an album of someone’s ordinary day–especially the food they eat from every angle..?!
@KickDrumHeart@datingish - I did not criticize your want to make memories. If you have over 1,000 photos, I am certain that over half are of unnecessary positions/ angles/ whatnot. Are you really arguing that you need over 1000 pictures to remember the time you spent with your friends and family..?
@UnconventionalButterfly@xanga - I suppose you agree because you are that type. They are not just photos. When there is that many pictures in an album, who the hell is going to waste their time going through it?

@x__mh@xanga - You’re certain that my number of photos means that there are many “unnecessary” ones? Hm… or could it be that I’ve been on Facebook since 2005? I’ve done a lot of living in the past 6 years, and I don’t think 1,000 photos is excess. Don’t people take pictures in college? If I wanted to, I could assume that I know all about your life, and say “I’m certain you did not go to college, or you would know that”, but I think that’s a little naive.
rose / 812 posts
@x__mh@xanga - ok let me ask you this: Why is it your issue that I have a lot of pictures on my profile? They aren’t in your life, you don’t have to look at them. They’re harmless memories. I think you need to stop caring about other people’s lives and just worry about your own.
guest
how are they tracking photo views? was this a survey?
guest
@KickDrumHeart@datingish - umm.. nieve? what the fuck is that? did YOU go to college? I am not even sure what point you are trying to make. does college = taking pictures? it does not. how NAIVE of you to think you are the only age group to do so.
@UnconventionalButterfly@xanga - I never said it was “my” issue, what ever that is supposed to mean. I am simply stating a truth, and I am sorry that it hurts you. Reality check.. no one cares about the literal details of your life. And there is no point in stating that I don’t have to look at your pictures, of course I don’t, and I would never, and I am certain that more than half your friends do not give a shit either.

@KickDrumHeart@datingish - HAHA good thing you edited your comment to make yourself look less like the idiot you are.
rose / 812 posts
@x__mh@xanga - You totally missed my point….WHY worry about somebody else’s life? WHY worry about how many pics somebody has on their profile? Its pointless and it doesn’t effect your life at all. Grow up. Its JUST facebook, not the end of the world.
rose / 903 posts
@UnconventionalButterfly@xanga - Grow up is right. She says she doesn’t give a shit, yet she’s really concerned about how many FB pictures some people have and making assumptions about their lives. Hm.
@x__mh@xanga - Yeah, because I said college kids are the only age group to take pictures. Please, show me where I said that, before you start calling me naive.
rose / 812 posts
@KickDrumHeart@datingish - Amen sister.

I’m not even going to respond to your hypocritical comment, as if you want me to believe that you have never been critical of something that does not effect you. I am not at all concerned with the number of photos you have on your site. I wouldn’t associate myself with people who were so insecure with themselves that they have to force their facebook friends to think they have a life.
And I do not need to grow up because I do not even have a facebook. Perhaps you do.. and find a real social life.

@x__mh@xanga - You don’t have a Facebook? Then why did you say earlier: “I absolutely HATE when my newsfeed shows me
an album of someone’s ordinary day–especially the food they eat from
every angle..?!”
Nice.

@KickDrumHeart@datingish - it’s called deactivation from dimwits like you.
rose / 903 posts
@x__mh@xanga - Ahaha. I’m supposed to believe that because you are so caught up in this issue and argument, that you just deactivated your account today. Hilarious.
guest
@KickDrumHeart@datingish - Actually I put it in that context so it would make more sense but of course, you wouldn’t understand.
And I bet you feel so very smart that you were able to point out that discrepancy. Just like you had to go back and edit your comment after looking up how to spell a five letter word.
guest
@KickDrumHeart@datingish - Guilty. I have 1323 pictures tagged of me :/ hahahah
guest
I don’t even have a profile picture.
I used to, but deleted it. Haven’t put one on since, I just didn’t want to look at myself anymore.
The only photos I have of myself are school photos, kiddy photos, and ‘before’ photos.
I’m working on the after ones.

I’m a firm believer in tagging people in my pictures.. but I don’t upload many.
I also havea less than average number of friends at 306. And I’m tagged in 933(? too lazy to check) photos.
