It is the workout that hot momma Kelly Ripa swears by and makes Anderson Cooper giggle like a girl. That was enough for me. Although I don’t live near a Physique 57 studio (they are only in NYC and California), I decided to give the DVD’s a try through the free trial offer on the Physique 57 website. I laughed, I cried, my legs shook like crazy, and only days into my free trial, my abs made their grand entrance.

The idea behind Physique 57 is interval overload. Basically, that means interval training that uses your own body as resistance and targets muscles to the point of fatigue. The main workout is 57 minutes long and you can also purchase DVD’s that offer an express workout of only 30 minutes. Now 57 minutes may seem long for a workout, but I have noticed it goes by relatively quickly. I am constantly moving through each exercise and don’t even have a moment to think about the time. The exercises never get easier so I have yet to plateau, which really helps when you are doing a DVD workout where you may master the moves eventually. Trust me, you will shake every time.

While some do Physique 57 as well as additional cardiovascular workouts, I decided to only devote my time to Physique 57, 4-5 days a week, and that has been enough to get the job done. As I stated before, my abs have made their presence known, and if the lighting is just right, I can spot a six-pack. My arms are toned and there is no…ahem…flab when I wave! My thighs have been my main trouble spot all my life and they now are toned, strong, and proud. Oh and the tush, don’t even get my started. Let’s just say it’s more lifted and tight than ever before.

The Physique 57 community is also incredibly supportive. Their Facebook page is monitored by the instructors and they respond usually within a day to any questions you post. There is also a “Discussion” page where new challenges are posted and members support each other through them.
