Here’s a little secret: I enjoyed Helena Bonham Carter’s Golden Globes look. From her towering hair to her mismatched shoes to her loose netting and brocade, I took it all in, and it all felt authentic. “That’s her,” I thought. She didn’t look forced, like she was trying to be too avant-garde. She just looked like Helena-freaking-Bonham-Carter!
Why haven’t we all adopted a Lady Gaga attitude towards her? She is insane…and totally awesome. She’s played deranged Death Eaters and corpse brides. Her boyfriend is Tim Burton, for goodness sakes! I’m just not satisfied when she goes tame and demure, like she did at this year’s Oscar nominee luncheon. That’s when I get uncomfortable.
Thankfully, she predicts her Oscars gown will be a “catastrophe.” (I’ll probably consider it a Helena Bonham Carter success.)

i think the dress could have fit her better……. i mean, you can still look crazy in a dress that hugs you in all the right places.
but yes, i do love her. she’s my favorite Ophelia.

I may not be a fan of the netting on the first dress, but she definitely looks better in that than the one below it. Why would she want to cover those delicate hands in the first place?

I love her. She is one of the most amazing and talented people I’ve ever seen. Even in movies that are awful (like Sweeney Todd or Charlie and the Chocolate Factory), she gives a fantastic performance. I love that she’s got her own crazy sense of style to go along with her crazy roles (Marla Singer or Bellatrix Lestrange, anyone?). I hope her Oscar outfit is just as wacky as the top picture. Because I love it on her and I think she’s the only one who can pull it off!

HBC playing a Death Eater was perfect…she is that person that you hate so much that she just blows you away…she’s awesome

I love that she has the guts to wear the stuff she wears and nobody even thinks twice about it.
Except my boyfriend’s mom. She was talking about how she wore a green shoe and a red shoe to one of the award shows, and she was so angry that it didn’t make it to a worst dressed list, and she didn’t know who it was. Then we saw a picture, and she pointed it out and said, “See?! Isn’t that awful?!”
All I could say was, “No, that’s Helena Bonham Carter. It would make less sense if she DIDN’T have different-colored shoes…”
