Doritos posted these 2 commercials on its website, both of which they plan to run during this year’s Super Bowl. Like most Super Bowl commercials, these ones rely on incisive intellectual wit and a razor-sharp acumen for mocking the intricacies of culture.
Just kidding, they’re totally making gay jokes, y’all!
Do these commercials cross the line into homophobia, or do you just think they’re funny?
What do you think, Lovelies?

meh. I liked the ones from last year better.

These made me giggle.

Eeeeh, I could care less about commercials to be honest.

The first one was funny. Usually commercials have a hot female doing all that and it’s overused and gross. Having gay (or questionable) guys was a nice, clever change, although a lot of people may take offense to that.
The second one is weird; kind of funny but there’s just something about it – Maybe it pushes it a little? I don’t know. There’s just something I don’t like about that one.

teeheehee!

Theyre kinda funny. I didnt like the end of the second one. The whole you like that. It wouldve been funnier if they just cut it off at the scene were his hand was in the bag.

Loved it!

the first one was funny, the second one was creepy lol idk if it’s offensive though, i’m not gay, sooo yeah.

these are funny.

hahaha i love it. these are hilarious.
but how are these homophobic at all? stop trying to stir up controversy over nothing xoxo
guest
i’m not sure if i like the second one, but the firstone is hilarious. people of the gay community may find it offensive, but they have to learn to laugh at themselves sometimes. i think it portrays some of the gay community perfectly :]
guest
Uhhh……ok
guest
I can see how they could be deemed offensive, but I don’t really take them that way. However, Doritos seems to be skating on thin ice lately with its commercials… first offending the Catholics, now the homosexual community. Way to go! *rolls eyes*

I liked the first better but the second wasn’t awful. Since when has there been Salsa Verde Doritos!? I have never seen those and I would love to try them
guest
I thought they were funny in just a goofy sort of way. I have a lot of gay friends, I bet they would find it funny–not offensive. I’ll have to show them to be sure. Hmm.
guest
the first one is highly enjoyable.
second commercial was a bit too much
guest
eh, they are funny. I don’t see anything offensive and I’m bi and totally rootin’ for the rainbow side.

The first one was lovely.
2nd not so much… i just kinda felt violated myself lol.
guest
Hhahahaa I like the second one way better. But they are both so funny haha
guest
i really dont understand the first one?
guest
Not homophobia, just trying to push the gay agenda and appeal to the small percentages of homosexuals. Like, “Buy our doritos, we’re gay friendly!” Disgusting…
guest
Both were really stupid and are offensive…depending how you look at them. Whatever, though. I just skip commercial..they’re so overrated.
guest
@Masked_Melody@xanga - the catholics? what commercial did they have that offended catholics?? i didn’t hear about that.
guest
they’re not homophobic, i’ve seens imilar commercials about straight people.
guest
These are awesome
guest
The first one was funny but I’ve seen it before.
guest
@Xo_THElizzikur_oX@xanga - I guess Doritos & Pepsi Max had a commercial that was deemed controversial… in the ad, the Eucharist and the wine were replaced with Doritos and Pepsi. Here’s a video about it and an article about it. I found out about this on some blog on Xanga, but I can’t recall where it was right now.
guest
Because we all know if you’re not the manliest man ever you’re a fag and being a fag is wrong! Way to keep the stereotype alive. Fuck you doritos.

I hate commercials….so I don’t really car anyway. But, these were a little gross. Just sayin
guest
There’s nothing homophobic about them. (And for the record I think that’s a word that gets used wrongly just about all of the time) The second one is a little raunchy for broadcasting on the superbowl I think. I’d expect to see something like that on G4.
guest
Neither one is homophobic, although the last two seconds of the second one are weird and I don’t see the point. Ending on the shot with his hand in the bag would have been perfect. Usually, to do a commercial around this concept, they’d use scantily-dressed women, so this makes a change from that… as a lesbian and an activist who doesn’t agree with dismissing things that are actually homophobic by saying “get over it”, I don’t think there’s anything homophobic to get over.
guest
The first one made me LOL (quietly, my roommate is sleeping). The second one was awkward because I knew it was a Doritos commercial. If I would have seen it live, I probably would have laughed/giggled.

I like the first, but not the second.
The first hints at sexual undertones whereas the second just goes for it. Kids watch the superbowl…and I don’t find these to be two of doritos more kid-appropriate commercials.
guest
The first one was hilarious. The second one was alright. Neither were offensive. No homosexual i know would think this was offensive or homophobic or even consider thinking it were.
guest
@twenty_twenty_surgery@datingish - The Salsa Verde chips are really good. I first had them back in middle school and I’m now 22 so they’ve been around for a while. lol
guest
hahaha… love it. They are pretty funny. No need to get bent out of shape.
guest
LOL I liked both of them!

Why do you bring up such irrelevent, inconsequential shit? No one thinks it’s offensive. I guarantee you not one person was thinking how “offensive” doritos commercials are. they think, “i want some doritos now.” Stop making everything such a huge fucking deal when it isn’t, and go find something productive to do. Is this site your whole life? If it is, you may as well commit suicide because you’re dead already.
