It’s every college students’ favorite time of year: winter break! Finals are over, and you have a few blissful weeks of freedom and relaxation. If you go to school away from home, you probably don’t need me to tell you why winter break is so awesome – but here are some reasons anyway.
1. No School: This is probably the most obvious reason why winter break rules. No classes, papers, exams, or getting up early until the next semester starts!
2. Your own room: In college, you probably have a roommate, and those dorm beds aren’t exactly the most comfortable things in the world. Enjoy a few weeks of solitude and getting to sleep in your own bed.
3. Home-cooked food: Even if your mom isn’t the greatest cook, what she makes is probably still better than what they serve in the dining hall (and there are no “mystery” entrees)!
4. Your friends: Sure, you’ve probably made lots of new friends in college, but it’s still awesome to hang with your old friends and doing all the things you used to do when you all lived in the same town.
5. Your family: They might start to annoy you after about three days, but there’s really nothing like seeing your family make you appreciate home.
What do you look forward to about winter break?

That picture looks like it’s from the 70′s.
And number 1, because I live at home and go to school, so I get 2-6.

After Christmas shopping & catching up on TV! Because of all the holiday themed stuff, this is a good time to catch reruns of stuff you missed & watch the holiday stuff you recorded because you were too busy with work to watch!

Great post! Unfortunately, my mom doesn’t really cook. I guess the good thing is I get to go to restaurants I haven’t been to in a long time?

NO school. absolutely no stress. and i love the feeling of being able to start over once the new semester begins.

Sorry, but I can only agree with #1.
I never have my own room. I live at home and commute to school, and share a room with my little brother. All year round.
I always get home cooked food, so that’s not really anything special.
I have no real friends, at school or at home. Don’t really want any.
I see WAY too much of my family.
What I enjoy about winter break is the fact that I can focus on things I want to do, not things I have to do. I go to art school, so I take this time to work on projects I haven’t had time for during school, with all the assignments I’m given. I also like the feeling of waking up at 10AM instead of 6AM (after going to bed at 2 or 3 in the morning). And I highly enjoy not having to take the train, with all those stuck-up suits and their gross-smelling coffee cups.
What do I like best about winter break? I actually get to spend real time with my boyfriend. We aren’t doing homework constantly, we’re not fighting to stay awake from sleep deprivation, we can actually just curl up in bed and watch a movie with a hot cup of tea and some snacks with no looming deadlines or building workloads.
