People has the scoop on the follow-up to MTV’s hit show ‘Teen Mom,’ aptly titled ‘Teen Mom 2.’ For this show, they’re bringing back 4 girls from the 2nd season of ’16 and Pregnant’ and looking at their lives as young moms.
Here’s a summary of the new cast:
CHELSEA: Raising a daughter, Aubree. Chelsea is still involved with her baby’s father, Adam, but it’s a tumultuous relationship – and one that Chelsea’s friends and family would like to see end. A popular softball star, Chelsea dropped out of high school during her senior year while she was pregnant. The show will follow Chelsea as she moves into a new place with her best friend and dreams of enrolling in beauty school.
• JENELLE: Raising a son, Jace. The father is completely out of the picture, leaving Jenelle to rely on her own mother, Barbara, for parenting help. Jenelle is a party girl, and has trouble reconciling that part of her life with her mothering duties. Eventually, Barbara takes matters into her own hands and sues her daughter for custody of Jace. Meanwhile, Jenelle enrolls in college courses, works to support herself.
• KAILYN: Raising a son, Isaac. Kailyn’s boyfriend Jo and his family supported her throughout the pregnancy and even took her in after Kailyn’s mother left her with no place to go. But when Kailyn and Jo’s relationship suffers, she moves into the basement as she juggles two part-time jobs and a full course load at community college.
• LEAH: Raising twin girls, Alianna and Aleeah. Leah has been trying to make things work with the girls’ father, Corey, but they broke up after she cheated on him with an ex-boyfriend. When Leah discovers that one of the babies is dealing with health issues, her bond with Corey strengthens and they try to reconcile.

Let’s just hope none of these ladies in future seasons got pregnant on purpose for the casting call…
The new show premieres January 11 on MTV. Will you be watching?

I think this whole show is sad. I know that there are teen mom’s, but they’re not a really healthy way to start a family. And this show makes it seem all too normal.

Does this mean that the original teen mom is over?

Oh wow, I remember when I watched the Sixteen and Pregnant part of this- the last girl Leah? She broke up with her long-term boyfriend and rebounded with this new guy (Corey)….one month into the relationship they were pregnant with TWINS.
I think I watched the first season of Sixteen and Pregnant/Teen Mom…and I was pretty much done. Bright side, it gives more incentive to be more careful/not have children at this age.

Meet the next abominations to hit TV!
Seriously, though. This show is pretty messed up.

@nicolthepickle@xanga - totally agree. if this were in documetary form (where it’s educational) it can be really great to inform teens about teen pregnancy.

I’m really glad Leah is doing right by her man, so to speak. I was soooo fucking angry when she treated him like crap, right after she had the twins. Can’t wait to see all of Jenelle’s drama. As for girls getting pregnant for a casting call, good for them and good for me; more trash tv!!!!

Really!?! I’m really excited. I mean i feel bad that they’re still teens and they have a huge responsibility on their hands but they are trying to make an effort. And the money they’re getting from the shows is going to them and their kids. I have followed both 16 & Pregnant and Teen Mom and I will definitely be watching Teen Mom 2. Not all of them are an abomination to society. I wish them the best

As sad as some of the events are I really love this show. Can’t wait!

I regrettably want to watch. South Dakota girl Chelsea is on it, so why not watch someone from the same state as me?

Kailyn goes to my college. I’ve seen her there before

maybe.. Leah was my fave teen mom out of all the 16 and pregnant episodes i watched so excited she’s in it

Wow, Leah’s going to be on? Of all the episodes I’ve watched, hers was the only one that truly made me sad. Could you imagine birthing twins to the rebound guy you were only with for a month?
Her story was also the only one where I felt like the father should have primary custody. Can’t wait until we get to go deeper into what they’re going through.

@LyricallyCharged@xanga - they’re married now!

I guess I don’t understand the appeal of these teen mom shows. Seriously…why and how is watching their drama a good way to spend an hour? I guess I’m just one of those weirdos that prefers to read a book or watch a TV show where I might….God forbid….learn something.

YAY! thank you for this! <3

@x__BeautiifulxDiisaster__x@xanga - Eh. Marriage doesn’t really mean anything. More than half the 16 and Pregnant parents “get married”. Are they together for themselves or for their twins? Because a marriage isn’t what makes a family.

@lttlegel - Are you kidding? This is an extremely informative show, especially for girls who didn’t raise younger siblings or and think that having kids is playing house with dolls.
I hope they cover a teen mom with a special needs child. That would be interesting.

i’m glad that at least 3 out of the 4 girls are going to some sort of college.

Yay. I can’t wait!

I’m kinda excited, because I got a little tired of the girls from season one.
However, I didn’t like any of the girls from season 2 of 16 & Pregnant :-/ but I’ll try it out anyway.
I can’t wait until they put the girls from this current season 16 & Pregnant onto Teen Mom. I thought some of the girls from this season have been wayyy more interesting

Jenelle pisses me off. I liked Chelsea. Leah was one of my favorites. And Kailyn seems normal, but kind of boring.

I will definitely be watching. Looks good. Now I need to go catch up on who Janelle is. Never watched her episode of 16 and pregnant.

That poor baby with the crooked leg ):
it makes me sooo sad.

@LyricallyCharged@xanga - i know that episode still gets me how they were trying to get comfortable with eachother
BUT i hate this show. it saddens me to no end. and how the guys totally cop out and abandon the child… unfair.
it also makes me mad that ppl have sex not even thinking of the consequences.

I think I’m pretty much done with 16 and Pregnant/Teen Mom. You turn on MTV and that’s all that’s ever on anymore. When it first came out, I did think it was a good thing that and brought awareness to the difficulties of teen parenthood. But especially ever since this whole, girls getting pregnant in order to audition for the show came out I’ve been completely turned off.
And if there was anyone who didn’t have any business having sex in the first place, it’s Jenelle. I remember her episode, I wanted to punch her in the face the whole time. If I was her mom I would have called CPS from the beginning.

As a teen mom, this show is awful.

I don’t know. I barely watched the original Teen Moms as it is. I mean, I live the life anyway (even though i’m 20) but I don’t think MTV shows the REAL challenges of being a teen mom. Or atleast a black/ethnic teen mom…

leahs the one who peed her pants right? heheh.

@needmoreink@xanga - Amen.

I’m super excited. I am glad they will be keeping up with the orignal girls still as well.

I would just like to chime in and say, as a young pregnant girl myself, watching these shows, and relating to these girls and their struggle is helpful. Yes, maybe they’re glorified, but watching them go through money struggles, pregnancy issues, relationship turmoil, is an educational experience for me. It is, however, not my step by step pregnancy guide nor my only form of information. It is a good way to see things that could possibly in my future. I never watched this show until I got pregnant, and I wouldn’t reccomend being pregnant and young, and I am a bit older than these girls, but I support this show and the education and support system it can provide to younger moms. “!!!!OMG THIS SHOW IS DISGUSTING girls shouldnt be gettin pregnant OMFG!!!” Yeah, but they do, so instead of hiding it and pretending like it doesn’t happen, MTV stepped up to the plate and brought a serious, usually shameful issue out into the open.

@irishluck20@xanga - Maci was the best mother on that show.
