Wow, that’s sad and funny at the same time. It’s kind of crazy to see an error like that get through… they probably have a bunch of eyes checking the page before print!
To be honest, geographically, I have no clue where Denver is. Sooo I totally would have missed this. I’m going to out on a limb and blame the fact that I’m a New Yorker and I think the world revolves around New York and get surprised when I meet people who have never been. ehhhhhhh
Well, Cosmo is not exactly known for its…umm…intellectual appeal. I can’t believe that made it to print. Even if they weren’t SURE which of those 2 square states was Colorado, they could get on the damned Internet and find out in 1.5 seconds. Stupid.
@Thumper49047@xanga - it was still bitchy. i’m sure a good percentage of cosmo readers are very intelligent people. i happen to be one of them.

@lovelyxbones_x3@xanga - well, in general Americans have horrible geography skills. in 2006, a study conducted found that 2/3 of young adults cannot even find Iraq on a map. maybe i’m just weird (i used to look at atlases as a kid and won a lot of geography contests), but i just don’t see how we can be that uneducated.
@too_pretty_to_die@xanga - I blame our educational system for not preparing and teaching us better geographic skills. And it’s hard to remember where every country is. It’s good to know the major ones.
I know Denver is in Colorado, but that’s all I know. I haven’t been to any other state than Kansas and Texas (home). And I don’t know most of the fifty’s states location..

@Hinase@xanga - yeah, i’m definitely a geography dork. with the exception of Eastern Europe and Western Africa… and all those tiny island countries… blah… i can label most places, along with their capitals.
@too_pretty_to_die@xanga - I’m not bad at geography at all, knowing a few places minus the major countries. Some capitals I know but that’s really all. It’s no problem =) I’m a history dork. lol
Okay, firstly, I may read Cosmo, but when I saw this, I was insulted. As I’m sure all the Wyoming and Colorado and bordering states’ readers were. I live in Kansas and Colorado is directly west of my state, even if I didn’t know and could label every state capital as well as every state on the map, also every bit of the provinces and capitals of Canada (yes, where I went to school in the USA, I had to learn Canada too, to you Canadians claiming that’s why you didn’t catch it.) Putting ALL that aside, I could still tell my bordering state to our west and it wasn’t the one with Denver, so it was an immediate eyesore, I quickly scanned the rest for errors, but they were all in their proper locations, so how on EARTH did this happen? I’d be firing people over this HUGE mistake. Who doesn’t fact check if they’re unsure of geography? I’m pretty sure I will not be renewing my subscription. Epic fail, Cosmo, you just lost a long-time reader, over something you could have easily avoided with maybe one person in I’m sure a huge group of writers and an editor and probably even student interns that you could probably have had look over and notice the epic flaw. I bet the Colorado and Wyoming readers are the ones really insulted.
