So I was out shopping and I saw a bunch of people with impeccably perfectly groomed eyebrows. But on closer look, I didn’t seem to find any hair on them. It was drawn on with eyeliner.
What do you Lovelies think of this trend? I personally can not understand the urge to shave off your eyebrows and replace them with drawn-on ones.
Thoughts?

Yeah, I knew a girl in middle school who shaved off her eyebrows and drew them on. It always freaked me out! I think it looks bad, because it’s 100% unnatural. Just take the time to groom your brows, for goodness sake!
guest
Dislike.
guest
a lot of 50s starlets did that.
guest
lovelyish appears to be stuck 50 years in teh past

Creepy.

“Oh hold on guys, my eyebrows smudged.”
Yeah…dislike.
guest
I don’t like it. Back in junior high, Mexican girls did that, mainly to get them to grow in stronger. I have a friend though who doesn’t grow any hair on her eyebrows anymore so she tattooed them on. If you have no hair on them, I can understand, but if you shave it off to draw them on, that’s just silly, imo.
guest
They look really bad. x__x
guest
My cousin draws her eyebrows in. I can’t stand to look at her. We both have naturally light eyebrows, and she used to puck them SUPER THIN. She started to high light them in with her black eye liner. Granted she is getting better at her, but it’s like…”B, you look unnatural up close!!”
I use dark brown eye shadow on a brush to lightly bring them out. I go to my boyfriend or any male family members (gotta love the male honestly, “you look weird, what did you do? wayyy to dark! you look funnny…) to make sure my eye brows look natural or if I shouldn’t bother with them.
guest
super ghetto
guest
Not a fan. It looks so unnatural.
guest
D:
guest
too unnatural.
but funny if they were drunk, and you wiped off their ‘current’ eyebrows and drew stupid ones like ‘angry’
guest
ok, that is awful…but have mercy on those of us who have almost none and have to enhance with powder….

It makes you look like a chola.
guest
cholaaaaa
sunflower / 251 posts
I can understand filling them in, a lot of people just naturally hardly have any eyebrows…like me lol.
But shaving them off just to draw them on seems like alot of hard work…and it usually doesn’t end up looking pretty.
guest
depends on the person and how skilled they are at drawing their own eyebrows.
guest
This was a trend I never thought would come back, but I should have guessed it when brightly colored eyeshadow became popular again. This look was popular when my mom was younger. I think this look is best left to the Cholas or back in the 70s.
guest
i only see old ladies with drawn on eyebrows.. i wont let anyone touch mine, let alone draw them in
guest
Hood-rats have been doing this forever.
guest
I’m only for drawn-on eyebrows if they’re on Amanda Palmer.
guest
It’s nasty looking probably because I’ve only ever seen them on nasty women. But no, not a trend I’d try.
guest
Yeah that’s strange.
guest
A lot of people have them tattooed on. It’s weird. I don’t like it.
guest
@BunnyBliz@xanga - I <3333333333333 Amanda Palmer!!

I hate it.
guest
that’s the signature ghetto chola(gangster) look. they also outline their lips with lipliner only. this isn’t a current trend. I noticed it back in 1995. the usual style is completed with baggy jeans and nike cortez shoes.

CHOLAS!
guest
Personally, I would not want to shave my brows and draw them in at all lol. However, I do not HATE or DISLIKE people who choose to fix their eyebrows that way. I’m really open to a lot of things lol.
guest
nuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
ur supposed 2 hav hair there.seriously, it’s like the ONE place on your face where hair is acceptable! (and usually expected…)

I know someone who’s so skilled at drawing in her eyebrows, and putting on eye makeup; she’s very beautiful. I don’t think too many people can pull it off well.
guest
If I liked the way it looked, I would…. My eyebrows have no hope if I want them arched. I’ve tried waxing, tweezing, and threading… Nothing seems to work.
But I think it’s ugly cause of it looking unnatural. My best friend does it.

I used to get my nails done by a taiwanese lady who had them tattooed on, but still had some hair there as well. They actually looked pretty real! But…no I’d never do this. lol.
guest
I think some women actually look attracted with drawn on eyebrows, but some women look real ugly with them. Depends on the women, I think. Some ladies look good with it and some just not there thing.
I wouldn’t, cause I wouldn’t look good and I wouldn’t be good at drawing them on. Hahah. I just keep my eyebrows groomed properly.
guest
some people’s natural eyebrows just aren’t the shape they want it to be. but yeah i agree they should just tweeze their normal eyebrows and fill it in
guest
I do this, but mine don’t look like shit.
guest
I have OCD and compulsively pull out hair. I used to have to draw on those suckers. Also, a lot of older ladies do it because as you age, your eyebrow hairs tend to stick straight out? So they just shave ‘em off and draw ‘em on. For some, drawing them on is easier than dealing with their weird shape. Or maybe they just like really skinny eyebrows. Some people like dramatic ones and they frame their face better. I don’t have an issue with it.
guest
If it’s a natural hair colour, like brown or black, fine. However, when people use blue and pink, I want to knock some sense into them. Irregardless, it’s not for me at all.
guest
GAH!
guest
I think most women who do this have scant eyebrows to begin with and decide to screw the whole thing and start over. Still, drawn-on eyebrows increase a person’s creepy level by 50 xp automatically.
guest
Trend? This has been around for decades! And if people do it correctly it looks natural, but some people just go all out and it looks horrible
guest
@retardtm@xanga - hahahahahahaha thats so funny
guest
Pass. Thats freakin weird.

My friend waxes hers and then draws them on in a pattern, so that it’s obvious she’s not trying to make them look realistic. It was just part of her style. Here’s a close up on one of her eyebrows: http://i52.tinypic.com/n1fl2h.jpg
guest
I will never give up my eyebrows for such fake thing. Ugh, I’ve seen people shaving 3/4 of their eyebrows and then drawing the arch to make it look good. It looks good from far, but upclose you can see they not real. And as well they have to wash it off b4 sleeping, imagine going to bed with eyebrowless woman. I mean eyebrows add to our facial expressiveness.
Some of them get them tattoed also, but it looks worse.
I would recommend people just to stay natural and that’s it.
guest
There was a girl in my high school that would do her eyebrows like that. One time she got into a physical fight and her eyebrows were all smudged around her forehead. Poor kid.
guest
@Nevermore_Nightmare@xanga - haha, brilliant.
it looks awful! I have to say, I do use Benefits eyebrow wax and powder, because my hair is black, and my eyebrows are lighter, so I look a bit stupid. Plus I have weirdly thin eyebrows in the middle. BUT, it’s completely natural looking, just a touch darker and fuller. Shaving them off completely is just stupid. For one, I so couldn’t get them to match.
guest
At my last job, I worked with someone who did this. You could tell her mood by looking at how she’d drawn her eyebrows that day. When they were curved, half-moon shapes, she was happy. When they were straight, she was sardonic. When they looked like upside-down check marks, watch out…she be trippin’.
I wanted to suggest that she use some sort of stencil, but that always happened to be on a check mark day, and I didn’t feel like getting my eyes clawed out.

It’s super common down here. well maybe because i live on an island that’s surrounded by asians but so many chicks draw their eyebrows in it’s considered normal.
guest
I find it a little weird…
guest
It’s pathetic. It’s unnatural. It’s stupid. It’s ridiculous. It’s disgusting.
guest
I have to use pencil and powder on mine because of an accident involving fire back when I was a teenager… It sucks but what else can I do? I’d never shave them off just to draw them in though.
guest
My friend did that once, until one day she came to school forgetting to draw them in.
The nickname Alienbrow stuck with her for a while, I believe.
guest
I think they can look good but only when PERFECTLY and completely flawlessly drawn on. I wish I had the guts to do it but it seems like an unecessary thing I mean, I dont want to have to touch up my eyebrows.
@UnpredictableIdentity@xanga - whoa. . .they are just eyebrows. thats a bit of an extreme assumption to make about a person based on thier eyebrows.
guest
people keep mentioning its a ghetto thing.
hit the goth communities on livejournal; tons of goths and cybergoth types do this.it looks good on some people, when theyre even and drawn with a steady hand

@britnirm - I had to look up “chola”. *LOL*
I don’t have shaved eyebrows, but mine are very light and needed to be enhanced with powder or else I’d look sickly (as my boss once commented “What’s wrong with you?” when I went without one day).
But these eyebrows here reminds me of Seinfeld…
guest
i’ve never been a fan of that trend.
guest
Groucho Marx was doing this in the 1920s, although he used greasepaint.
guest
i mean, i know a lot of people do it….but … but nooooo! its not natural & i cant imagine shaving off my eyebrows! omg id be so sad! & your poor bf will wake up to you with smudged eyebrows…….. haha no thank you. i will pass on that [; good post
guest
That’s disgusting !

@WhenHateIsTheOnlyOption@xanga - Word. Someone needs to send them a memo to stop.
guest
Ugly. Enough said.
guest
yuck is what i think of that. lol
guest
its so ugly
guest
I don’t see how this is a “trend.”
guest
what if you have an itch?! or if it rains…
god, it looks so unnatural.
guest
That one show VH1 had about spoiled brats learning to not be spoiled brats had someone who did that. It made her eyebrows look so unnatural even from far away.
I understand if you want to make them look fuller. But if you just want to make them be perfect without having to do the maintenance…then I don’t know what to do for you. It looks tacky and is normally obvious so they still aren’t perfect. I’m just going to keep with my natural eye brows.

As a guy, I think it’s disgusting. It also bothers me when girls and women pluck their eyebrows… it’s so obvious…
guest
I’ve seen the drawn on, tattooed, etc. When I was in HS and worked at my local YMCA there was an elderly woman that drew hers on with BLUE LINER. It scared me.
guest
I remember all the mexican girls in middle school did that. I don’t think I like it. I fill mine in, though, but just because they are really light.
guest
i don’t like it =[
guest
Not only does it LOOK stupid & ugly, it IS stupid & ugly.
guest
It doesn’t even look good at all.
guest
clown. too fake.
guest
I have super blonde eyebrows and i sort of ‘shade them in’ if you get me because my hair is really dark compared to my eyebrows :/
I can get what everyones saying like people who draw them on like the girl in the picture, but not everyone does ‘em like that.
hydrangea / 59 posts
a girl i knew did this… i asked her if she ever drew angry eyebrows. looney toon!
guest
weird
guest
I like very done eyebrows. So much so that mine are now permanently gone. I now have the flexibility to alter change to whatever style I want and color.
If you want to try – shave – they’ll grow back. If you like then pluck and eventually no more hair. Occasionaly a downy like hair will appear but these come out with no pain.
