(Looks like the Biebs has a new reason to give Gaga props!)
According to this article, Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber are just two of the many celebrities who have pledged to abstain from Twitter and Facebook until the Keep a Child Alive charity has raised $1 million dollars.
When I first heard this, I scoffed. I didn’t think it would have any effect. But then the article explained, Gaga alone has so many followers on Twitter and Facebook that she herself could raise the money (and considering how active her little monsters are when it comes to her, I wouldn’t be surprised)!
There will be ads featuring celebs in coffins (like this one with Kim Kardashian), to mark their “digital death”, in a sort of sarcastic point, which is that if a celebrity signing off their social media is so important to us, why aren’t we more concerned with the people dying all over the world from AIDS? I really like this idea, I think that the more people who hear about it, the more supporters this cause will have. Because honestly, who could say this is a bad idea?
Do you like this idea? Will you be donating to the charity?

Hey, it’s pretty clever…. and I think it will make some money. The only celebrity I’m going to miss is Ryan Seacrest. I subscribe to his Twitter and he always has interesting things to say.
Will I be donating? Probably not… mostly because I have exactly $0.51 in my checking account at the moment. hahaha

This is a great idea. I think we spend far too much time following celebs online and in magazines. Not that I don’t do myself, because I’m just as guilty. But now I am very tempted to go donate, and to just get off the internet for a bit each day.

I don’t think it’s a loss, they always have nothing exciting to say. And how come they can’t donate their own money?

i admit. i donated to the kim one. 1 – because kim is one of my favorite celebs, im almost borderline obsessed with her. :p. and 2 – i think its for a good cause and i prob wouldnt have been able to find another way to donate to the cause.
its sad for me to say, but if it wasnt for kims endorsement which got me aware of the charity, i prob wouldnt have donated.

Probably not.

who cares….they just don’t have to pay the poor bastard that does it for them is all…win/win for them because morons buy into this fake charity from celebs….

lol, why don’t they donate THEIR money? I don’t want to spend my money to make celebrities come back to virtual life, even if it’s for a good cause.
If I’m doing something for charity, then I’m going to actively participate by volunteering.

I’m gonna be sooooo lonely without my Mother Monster!

I know this is for a good cause but I just kinda see this as B.S. and a way to make them look good in the public’s eye. And a clever marketing strategy. Kinda like paying to get them back on tweeter or whatever it’s called
At least the charity will have their money

@WhenHateIsTheOnlyOption@xanga - Who’s to say they haven’t donated any of their money to a charity of their choice. The way I see it by doing this celebrities are motivating a lot of young people who are in that “omg pop culture is the only culture and my like totally revolves around their lives” phase to do something good for other people that they might not have done before. I don’t have a problem with that.

Lady Gaga always donated to stuff like this but it’s nice how she’s going to encourage others to care too.

Beiber is doing it because it’s the trendy thing to do. We all know GaGa cares, but Bieber? He doesn’t even know what German is.

I feel like it’s kind of annoying considering each of them is assuredly quite well-off.
