Will somebody please explain to me the obsession with fragrance amongst celebrities? The latest celebrity to launch an olfactory assault is Katy Perry, evidently, with Purr.
For the most part, the ability to engender a successful fragrance takes piquant nasal abilities, some knowledge of chemistry and overall good taste. So why are celebrities so compelled to market fragrances with their names plastered all over it? Is it for sheer economic gain?
Granted, there have been a few successful scents. Jessica Simpson’s Fancy, for one, definitely tickled my fancy with its super-sweet, dessert-like aroma.
What do you think of celebrities and their fleet of fragrances? Do you have any favorites?

It’s easier than writing a book or making their own clothing line?

Because everyone wants to smell beautiful and everyone wants to have a popular fragrance. Thinking it might go back to Liz Taylor she was the one who kinda started this trend I think

Editor’s fail on the title.

I don’t know. but the Kim Kardashian one wasn’t all that, AT ALL. Victoria Secret’s fragrances smelled better than hers.

Because it’s something they barely need to make an effort in doing and slap their name on it. Money, that’s it. I can’t see any other reason they would do it.

The perfume experts help guide the celebrities in concocting their fragrances. What product doesn’t want a celebrity backing it? it’s a mutualistic relationship.

Because they are trying to sell their name, although they usually don’t need to since they are already famous enough.
