It must suck to have people taking pictures of you all the damn time, and then scrutinizing you.

Wow, for real, I would not have guessed a couple of those. I recently quit smoking, but it’s kind of odd to see some of these celebs lighting up. Not wrong, but unexpected, I guess is the best way to phrase it…

The Obama picture is definitely photoshopped. Look where the cigarette is supposed to meet his lips and it’s just blurred a little bit to give it the illusion of being in his mouth.
Some of these surprise me though! I had no idea Anne Hathaway smoked, or Jennifer Aniston, or Daniel Radcliffe. Hmm.

@Jessica - Honestly, I just stopped. It’s really hard, I’m not going to make it out to be easy by any stretch of the imagination, but I haven’t had a cigarette since before April 18th. 

cigs are so gross.

@gilly_owens@xanga - awesome! my dad also quit cold turkey, when he met my mom in his 20′s and she would have nothing to do with him unless he stopped. It’s supposed to be the best way to quit! But also probably the hardest.

@Jessica - That’s why I stopped, too. The guy I fell for hated smoking, and so I stopped so that we could be together. Even though he and I aren’t together anymore, I didn’t start smoking again. It’s healthier this way. But it’s really hard going to bars with my friends and being around all the smoke… XD

I have to say that I was very surprised to see Anne Hathaway on the list. I absolutely adore her and I think she’s one of the most beautiful actresses of my generation – but it makes me sad that she smokes.  No offense to any smokers out there, but I personally don’t like smoking at all.

Anne Hathaway smoking really surprised me. I knew Daniel Radcliffe took up the habit when he smoked in the play Equus, I didn’t know he smoked a pack a day. wow
But I still love him.

I’m not going to lie, I really enjoy smoking. People can call it gross all they want, I guess they’ve never had an addiction so strong. If people want to smoke, it’s perfectly legal, so let them. No one should care. 

I was craving some ciggs today! Im not a smoker.. I just smoke once in a blue moon when I drink..

When I started clinicals in the hospital I started to see how bad smoking really was – half of the patients are there for COPD exacerbations!!!  Then I did a rotation at hospice, and I REALLY saw how bad smoking was. Lung cancer was the most common terminal diagnosis I saw.:(

Just gross.  When I see people smoking I think “loser”.  Sorry to all the people who smoke but I just automatically think that…even though my Dad is a smoker too lol.  It’s just gross and so bad for you and it’s not something you have to do…it’s just totally a bad decision in my mind.  Makes me think differently about these celebrities. Bleh.

i hope all of you bashing these celebs for smoking haven’t eaten fast food in the last month.  pretty sure that’s a horribly unhealthy act, too.

…along with a large amount of America’s population. Leave em alone, seriously.and they’re not cigs or jacks they’re cigarettes. and sometimes cancer sticks on the occasion.

I guess I don’t understand why smoking in front of your kids is so bad. My dad smoked in front of me all the time. The only thing it did for me was make me never want to smoke a cigarette. 

I have lots of friends that smoke. My ex used to smoke. It really doesn’t bother me. To each his own, yeah?

Meh. I’ve been around enough smokers to not be so judgemental about it. If I see someone smoking, I really don’t care. Just don’t do it near me. If I didn’t get stomach aches and headaches from just smelling cigg smoke I wouldn’t care but it happens so just stay the hell away from me when you do and it’s all good.

I was really surprised that obama smokes. Jennifer aniston, hayden, and daniel radcliffe were pretty surprising too. (no, not my harry potter!! Haha)

Smoking does not look pretty either..and neither would cancer later on. That’s why I’ve never started..

@Jessica - That’s what my husband did. =). I refused to marry him unless he quit smoking. He quit smoking the day we got engaged, cold turkey.

I don’t see what the big deal is here. Everyone has a bad habit, leave them alone.

Sorry, I cant stand people who smoke around kids OR their own kids. 

Good on all of them for making their own personal choices.  I smoke cigars and I own two pipes that I enjoy!  Let them do what they want with their bodies.  Damn near everyone who smokes has been hit with the anti-smoking propaganda so we know what the “risk” is.  Believe it or not there are actually benefits to smoking also.  

But let these actors do what they want and quit judging them because they do something you disagree with.

I’m just curious, because I believe most published journals I’ve read that did research on the effects of smoking have concluded that there really aren’t any long-term positive effects of smoking.

I believe that people have the right to smoke if they want to, since like you said, most people are completely aware of the risks that comes with smoking. I’m sure the aforementioned celebrities do too, and frankly, I don’t give two shits whether or not they smoke.

But claiming that smoking has benefits is just an inaccurate statement to me.

I quit a month ago.

i wouldn’t want to smoke, but who cares what others do? it’s a free country and your own decision.

Surprise, celebrities make bad health choices just like everyone else. Honestly, when it comes to smoking, there isn’t a personality type IMO, just because people have some many different reasons for starting and just continue because they are addicted. Nicotine can reel in anyone it pleases. It’s sad.

And smokers on here need to stop being so defensive. It’s your habit, your addiction. You already know it’s gross and unhealthy, stop trying to be in denial. I don’t get all defensive when someone points out my bad habits and health choices. I just nod and agree, and admit they are right, I SHOULD probably make a better choice.

Some of these might be casual smokers. And I think Jennifer Anisten only smokes one a day.

Not everyone gets addicted to them. I smoked casually for a while when I was dating a guy who smoked. Then I lost interest.

This makes me sad for some of them.

Oh….It is refreshing to know I am not alone.  and I’d love to have a smoke with any one of these people one day.I smoke only one or 2 ciggies a day now..And people are always shocked when they find out, becasue they say ” I don’t look like a smoker”.  and I am a health nut too…so that doesn’t go together with smoking. The older I get, the less I like to. actually, I don’t enjoy it at all..but sharing one with someone makes it better…But yeah..everything else I do is healthy. My one vice is occasional smoke.

And NO, I am not surprised by any one of these people smoking. It happens, even to the best of us, the smartest of us, the healthiest of us.

Some of these disappoint me.  I don’t smoke because I come from a family of smokers.  It’s really terrible for you.  The health consequences surface not very long after a person starts smoking regularly.  I have a 17-year-old co-workers who has been smoking for a year or two, I believe, and she already has a smoker’s cough.  My granny has been smoking for probably 50 years and still smokes while she’s hooked up to her oxygen machine.  Pretty sad

I think Jennifer, Hayden, and Anne are the shocking ones. It also makes them much less sexy & fresh than I originally thought of them. The pic of Obama just makes him look slimy & disgusting. Great role model there, prez.

I smoke occasionally. Like when I’m stressed. I probably go through like 3 packs a year.  I picked the habit up in college. Haha.

This is kind of like seeing your teacher, outside of school, and smoking.

People are so offended by this. The poster isn’t judging these celebrities or putting them down for their obviously dangerous  choices. They’re simply showing you different celebrities that smoke, and that’s all there is to it. Calm down people, if you really don’t care, why are you posting comments anyway?!

Why does it matter if someone smokes? Is that honestly going to make you think less of them? Many of these actors probably picked up the habit while smoking for movie ROLES, which you all watch.
